Thanks to a little help of 100,000 Facebook fans (myself included), Universal Pictures has released a brand new full-length trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Building off of the minute-and-a-half Scott Pilgrim released in March, this new full-length trailer really pushes the action and comedy elements to another level and should give you many more reasons to see this. trailer

Directed by Edgar Wright, the man behind the incredible comedies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World tells the story of a 23-year-old Canadian and part-time Bassist (Scott Pilgrim) who falls in love with an American girl named Ramona V. Flowers. But before their relationship can blossom, Pilgrim must defeat her seven evil exes. And when I say “defeat” I mean win an all-out battle. All is made clear in this trailer:

Obvious in its overtly stylistic nature, the movie and its unusual emphasis on comic book style action scenes and visuals plays out extremely well and totally works for the story its trying to tell. When first hearing that an adaptation of the Oni Press comic book series would be made into a feature film, I was a little worried but it turns out my concern was completely unfounded.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh and Jason Schwartzman.

I’m very excited to see Scott Pilgrim, later this summer. How about you?

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World hits theaters August 13, 2010.

  1. can somebody please make a Made-for-TV movie about the Culkin family. It’s like a guessing game trying to figure out who is who when they just randomly pop in movies these days. I know that’s Kieran Culkin in this trailer, but they gotta pick one son and hand the reigns off.

  2. Huge fan of Edgar Wright, not so much of Michael Cera and his movies, but this trailer has convinced me that I want to see this.

  3. I’ve never read the comic book this was based on but this looks freaking AWESOME. :)

    • I’ve only read the first one in the series (I think it’s supposed to be six volumes in total), but the few scenes I’ve seen from that in the trailers so far are completely spot on.
So it seems this can be fun for all, both those that love the series and those that never has read any of it.

    • offtopic

did you guys see the final Japanese trailer for The Last Airbender ? It’s Epic !

  4. Awesome!

  5. Even tho I normally loathe Cera and everything he is in (except AD), I’m going to see this nonetheless.
Who knows? Maybe this is when he stops being annoying and starts to be a good actor in good movies?

  6. hahaha, AWEsome!!!!!!!

  7. Haven’t read the comics, but really can’t wait for this, it looks amazing. I was thinking as I was watching this “when was the last time someone made a movie as awesome as this that wasn’t based on another property?” and realised it just plain doesn’t happen.

    • Uhhhh … this is based on a comic book series … so … yeah

      • Well aware of that… hence why the first line in my comment was “haven’t read the comics” and the last line was “and I realised it just plain doesn’t happen”. ;)

        • Jeepers … must have been half asleep. :)

          • Not to worry, happens to us all. I’m fairly sure I’m asleep right now.

  8. Personally I love Micheal Cera he’s always funny don’t get why anyone would have a problem with him.

Personally I can’t stand the movies made by Edgar Wright. I laughed one time at Shaun of the Dead I didn’t find it funny at all it was a boring mess and don’t get me started on hot fuzz that movie was just terrible.

    • I’ll agree with ya on Cera and on Hot Fuzz. Never got why people thought Hot Fuzz was so great. Never saw Shaun of the Dead.

    • I loved, loved LOVED Hot Fuzz. Funniest movie ever (well, not really, but I loved it nonetheless).

  9. I never heard of this title before it became a movie production. The premise looks hilarious & will hopefully deliver for fans and other clueless folks like me. :) The cast is pretty impressive in terms of recognition from moviegoers. Should be worth a view.

  10. “who falls in love with an American girl named Ramona V. Flowers. But before their relationship can blossom,”

Yeeeeah, there’s nothing in the world like puns.

On a more on-topic note, this movie looks AWESOME! I actually understand the geek-out hype for this one, unlike Kick-Ass (note: haven’t seen it yet, but I think it looks good.. just not amazing)

    • Brilliant, right?

    • “Yeeeeah, there’s nothing in the world like puns.”

EXCEPT the use of capital letters to emphasize a word or phrase. :)

  11. Kick Ass was awesome among the best comic films I highly recomend it to u

    • I think you mean “AWESOME!” :)

      BAZINGA!

  12. I might have to sneak this between my ten showings of Expendables a day in August.

  13. I just read volumes I & II of Scott Pilgrim and am excited to see this film. It has all the dopiest qualities of Scott personified.

  14. Looks fun !

  15. The premise is very fresh, the characters are waaaay zany, the look and feel of this movie hilarious…they just may pull it off with a BANG at the box office!

  16. Looks like I’m in the minority here because I think this movie looks absolutely terrible, and I’m willing to bet that had it have now connection with Shaun Of The Dead Or Hot Fuzz, there would be more of this sentiment.

Looks too much like Cera doing his same ‘ol shtick, mixed with a little bit of Speed Racer effects.

    I’ll gladfully pass.
