Im a Twihard, but a patient one. I do want the book to be the basis of the movie – however, creativity must be allowed to move in every direction. The “wolfpack” cast is great – being a native american decendent (choctaw)- I liked the story line of the Quilets and that animal nature was involved in the transformations. I really thought some older acters would have been chosen for the Italy vamps… but Im willing to sit back and let these folks surprise me! It should be a great movie and the 3rd and 4th, too.

“Most of them are members of the newly introduced Volturi, a coven of vampires who are hell bent on on disrupting the existing vampire laws.”

As I just finished _New Moon_ last night, I guess I’m a fan too now. Never expected to be. Still, this line really sorta catches me. Not to issue a dreaded spoiler, but this is hardly the role of the Volturi… Is the statement from a press release? Or am I having a lower extremity yanked?

i figured caius would have been played by an older actor too.

I am a Twihard I have read the books over 15 times and seen the movie ocuntless times. I only hope that they will do a great job on the movie and I am glad that theya re sticking with original actors. They are the ones that started it all and should be back for the new one. PLus some of the Volturi are really hott. So nice job casting.

Um… The Volturi aren’t hell bent on disrupting the vampire laws… They MAKE the vampire laws. They’re the unoffical (or offical, depending on how you look at it) head (royalty, even) of the vampires and make sure that humans don’t find out about the vampire world.

nena says:

yeah Tim, i think you might have to read the book again.. cuz i think you didnt get it..ups.. sorry..

Ross Miller says:

@Tim,

Yes it WAS from a press release. Maybe I picked up what it said wrong (since I haven’t read the books, I couldn’t correct it justly); it actually said they “weigh and impose on the vampire laws….” but I re-worded it… wrongly(?)

Tim says:

@Ross

I’m new to the series, but the Volturi in the book are sort-of the nobility and elite. Been around for thousands of years and scary-mean-powerful.

Basically the big law (again, in the book) that they are supposed to enforce is the secret of the vampires’ existence.

Either you worded it incorrectly or the people in charge are changing it… Sorry, man, but I hope it’s the former and not the latter. ;-)

Cathy says:

Misinterpretation of the role of the Volturi – forgiven. Difficult to weigh in on characters from a saga that you haven’t read. Twihards hold you accountable to these details :) So far, I love the actors chosen to play the Volturi – Jane is going to be perfect. However, Stephenie Meyer’s choices of actors for the roles of Charlie (Bella’s dad)and Jacob (New Moon Jacob) which are posted on her website, are closer to the description in her novesl. I read the books first and then when I saw the pics, I saw perfection.

MS.PAYNE says:

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST NEWS I HEARD SO FAR, I JUST HOPE WE DONT HAVE TO WAIT FOR SUCH A LONG TIME FOR THE MOVIE TO BE RELEASED…
AND YET WE WILL HOLD OUR BREATH….
