Sorry, I don't follow.

Were you referring only to Dreamworks CGI films or CGI animated films in general with your original comment?

790,

Because some of them are, genuinely as good and thoughtful as live action films that adults have been going to see for time out of mind?

I suppose I could buy the dress getting bigger than the garter if the explanation is that the dress was exposed to the same cosmic forces that her body was and grew with her, and she put the garter on afterwards.

But I definitely agree with Vic on the "Boobies" remark. This sounds like Katzenberg getting involved in the production again, always pushing his studio's projects to be "edgier" and on the border of inappropriateness (Check out the documentary "the Pixar Story" to see how his notes on "Toy Story" nearly pushed the film into disaster. Woody was initially described as the most repellent animated character because of Katzenberg's notes to make him 'edgy').

This really sounds like a great concept, on the level of 'The Incredibles' coolness. There may even be the potential for some genuine subversive and intelligent commentary here, in the right hands, but given Dreamworks hit or miss track record, and general timidness in approaching anything that might reflect a little deeper thought, means that there won't likely be much beyond the obvious here, and according to at least one other source, there's reason to be concerned that pop culture reference jokes may be the crutch this film leans on for humor.

It may turn out to be pure fun, but I've been spoiled a bit in my expectations of what animated films have the potential for by Pixar. I may be biased, but not without reason.

Good call Vic - I'm not impressed when they make comedic scenes out of not-very-well-thought-out plans.

And Bob will totally be the fan favourite, especially among kids. I also have a spot in my heart for the Giant bug thing and his crazy eyes, lol.

Good post!

So her wedding garter is less stretchy than her dress? How does that pop off but her dress grows to match her size? And "boobies?"

Yeesh.

Yeah, yeah... nit picking, I know.

I think "Bob" will be the best thing in the movie.
