Is it a bird, is it a plane? Nope, it is most definitely Superman!

The latest image from Zack Snyder's Justice League gives us a surprise reveal and a clear new look at the Man of Steel alongside the rest of the team. Featuring the full line-up of Ezra Miller as Flash, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, there is also Henry Cavill's Superman standing front-and-center.

Apart from the big reveal of Henry Cavill back in the tights at Comic-Con last year, our sightings of Superman in any promotional material for the film has been nil. There may have been the odd snap posted by Snyder, but we are still in the dark at where Cavill has been all this time. Even the first-look trailer did nothing to reassure fans that Superman is even in the film.

Rubies, a site that sells officially licensed DC Comics costumes, uploaded the image, promoting a new website and #jointheleague. The reveal ties in nicely with the release of the latest Justice League website, which promises some bountiful benefits for its members. With sweepstakes, up-to-the-minute news, and exclusive content, the site encourages you to join the team today!

If you remember, Superman met his demise toward the climax of Snyder's Batman v Superman in 2016. He sacrificed his life to save the world from the monstrous Doomsday, while the film ended with his very public funeral and the "death" of Superman. Readers of the comic books will know that the death of the alien-cum-journalist is only temporary and there was no way that DC would kill off one of their most profitable heroes.

The tease of dirt rising off of Clark's coffin at the end of BvS was enough to confirm that he would be suiting up again for Justice League, however, even in the events of Suicide Squad, it seemed that Superman was still very much deceased. When the first trailer dropped for Justice League, we were almost sure there would at least be a reference to Kal-El.

The trailer was certainly jam-packed with Easter eggs and new faces, but we hoped to see Superman in action. Alongside some epic battle scenes and flying Parademons, there were first looks at Amber Heard as Atlantean Queen Mera and J.K. Simmons stepping to the prestigious role of Commissioner Gordon. We even saw Momoa's Aquaman riding the Batmobile before leaping into action, however, there was no Clark Kent - not so much as a whiff of a cape.

People have rightly been asking, "where is Superman?" and while his return is still shrouded in mystery, it remains a controversial method of promotion. Some are fans of the drip-feeding of Superman into the feature, while others hope that he will be excluded from marketing altogether to avoid ruining the magic of the surprise. That being said, it is guessed that Superman will feature prominently in the next trailer.
