Well, yeah... I suppose you're right. I can't lay ALL of the acting blame in Ep. 1-III on Lucas. But I had read that Hayden actually had done some very good work PRIOR to the film series.

I agree with the points you make about anger in the role. He came across like a petulant child instead of a dangerous man.

Well, I do, but also his performance was at the same time not necessarily gold either. He just doesn't play a good angry person, and you think someone playing Anakin that would be a must have. Again I'm not exactly blaming Hayden, but I think one of the points of the Star Wars prequels was to understand Anakin's side in it. But, all I could focus on was his naiveness and anger issues, I couldn't feel anything but joy when he was set on fire. Later though I went back and watched and I got over the character and it was actually a good story, but something was amiss. And from what I've seen in trailers for Awake and Jumper, he looks like a superb actor. Perhaps it's what hes learned along the way.
  • I say blame Lucas, not Hayden.

I am looking forward to this movie renewing my faith in Hayden Christensen, from his horrible role as Anakin which was one of the things that ruined the Star Wars prequels for me.
