Hi!
Since I stumbled upon Screenrant I’ve enjoyed most of your posts,
but these IronMan picture updates really bring down the quality of the blog.

Please keep it fresh and, and perhaps widen your scope a little beyond the comics movies and you’ll find a lot more people coming back.

Cheers,
Q

Didn’t realize it was that impending.

Give us the movie now!

MBL said,

Some of us are like kids poking under the bed around Xmas time to see what Mom and Dad got us. Spoiling the surprise no longer makes it exciting and I found myself many times reciting lines to scenes I caught on the internet months before. It diluted “the bang” of it and actually made the movie predictable. Who the hell would want that? Only those who are used to poking their noses under the bed around Xmas time.

Please…no more spoilers. I stopped posting images like this on the European fan sites long ago.

We get the gist of IRON MAN, already know how the story goes and know the actors. What more do we need to convince us to see the dang movie?! I wish I could practice they old “turn it off” logic but that would mean me not visiting your site anymore Vic. I don’t mind bits and pieces but sustained supply of “whatever comes out” is ludacris.

Just my two and a half cents. (see, even that was too much)

Keep them comming!. Gotta love shell head. Us that KNOW him and like him, are going regardless, those that dont, will get more excitement to go see it with more sneak peeks, since they dont know his story.

Yeah, I saw this on the cover of Wizard and thought it looked awesome! From this angle, it looks more streamlined. Bob Layton would be proud!

Kel, sorry, the date is May 2nd. It was after midnight and I’d driven home from Sundance.

MBL, Marq, thanks for your feedback guys, I really do appreciate it. You each actually bring up issues that I’m torn on. I tend to cover the movies that I’m personally more interested in plus the narrowing focus is for a more targeted audience.

I struggle with covering a wider spectrum of films, but to be honest, when we do venture beyond superhero/sci-fi, those posts don’t get many visitors or comments, so it discourages me from continuing.

Regarding spoilers, that’s another issue. It’s difficult to cover some things when I don’t want to spoil MYSELF for a movie!

Thanks for the feedback,

Vic

Hi Vic,

I appreciate what you’re doing here, and one reason I keep checking back is because you did seem to bring out news on a nice range of new movies, not EVERY new movie but a good selection. Other movie sites may have more info, but they also have too much, and I think you have a great opportunity to attract more people just because of your blog’s “no sugarcoating” - no BS approach.

Don’t be disheartened when people don’t leave comments on non-sci-fi/superhero posts. In time, these will prove to be your added value items. It was upon your review of I am Legend, having admitted before that you were not looking forward to it but then praising Will Smith’s acting, that I went to see the movie, eagerly.

I’m also waiting to see In Bruges, Which I would never had known about it otherwise (we don’t get all the coverage we’d like here in Europe, ironically).

Kudos also for sometimes bringing TV series into the mix (it’s still a screen) although I understand that with the writer’s strike there’s not much going on at the moment.

All I’m trying to say is avoid repetition. I know you spend a lot of you free time keeping this site up, so perhaps being more selective with “tidbits” will give you more time to report on other things we might not have heard about, or even more time with your family :-)
Keep it up!

Marq

Oh and one more thing:
I really appreciate your links in posts to the sources of your info. That opens up another whole new world to “insider info” and bloggers in-the-know within the whole industry.

CHA!

Just to make life a bit more difficult for ya vic I think I’m gonna add my little bit.

I dont think seeing pre release info/hype affects the cimema experience whatsoever. I read up loads on I am Legend. To the point that even I thought I had wrecked the movie for myself. However, when I was sat in the cinima, it still felt fresh somehow. I really thought I knew what to expect, but the isolation of smith’s character hit me harder than I thought it would (a rea son why the film is underrated IMO.

Reading up about movies, IMO, can’t spoil the experience in any significant way. Just look at westerns, I know just how a cowboy with a poncho looks like. But nothing can compare to how morricone sets the film up. You can see as many images of Star Wars as you want, but it won’t dull the pure feeling when Vader reveals his sick secret to skywalker.

In short it’s all about how a film is made to work at the end of the day; and of course how it makes you feel.

Absolutely,Heath! Bob Layton would be proud! I love the lil tips o the hat (sorry) that the movie version of the armor gives to the classic suit, such as the circular uni-beam thing on his chest (I never liked the Superman style diamomd looking one in the current books) and the helmet among other things,I think it looks great. One of the best big screen adaptations of a comic book costume ever (unlike that batsuit….gahhh!),IMHO.

Thakns for the update,Vic! I was freakin’ out there for a while!! Scared me half to death, man! :-)
I’m SOOOOO glad it’s still may 2nd!! :-D

I think the armor looks to rubber.
They should clean up the cgi and make it look more like metal.

It’s alright for Screenrant to have updates on the Iron Man movie, because for Iron Man fans like myself this is the only place I go to for updates on the upcoming movie.

Maybe the general readers would prefer a wider spread of coverage, but in my opinion Screenrant isn’t just any other movie blog out there, it’s special in the sense that it caters to a narrow band of fans as well. So far it’s been quite even in its coverage of movies that are worth watching. Maybe those Iron Man updates will not jive with non-Iron Man fans but it’s a great thing to fans. :-)

Give me all the Ironman updates and Photos! There’s enough bandwidth for all these great films this year !

Another excellent pic! IMHO, that armor has to be super snug on the wear.

Please, keep doing what you’re doing. If comic book movies are hot, do articles about them. If period pieces are hot, do articles on that.

I don’t know what this Q guy wants. Maybe he wants just what he likes to be represented. The site’s called screenrant. Iron Man’s a movie.

Q guy said,
January 25th, 2008

Yes, more period pieces too!

The site IS called screen rant.
So, considering Q guy is not on screen, he can rant, can he not?

As you were.

steve adams said,
January 25th, 2008

Q, I respect your opinions.

This site IS called Screenrant and that’s what goes on here.
We should all try to remember everyone has a opinion.
We don’t all have to agree. Its a forum.

Vic said,

Yes, what Steve said. Be nice, guys! I’ll never stop covering what I consider the core of Screen Rant but it wouldn’t hurt to expand things. You don’t have to read the stuff that doesn’t interest you. :-)

I don’t think hype ruins anything either, and it’s fun to see what’s in store for us this year. Keep covering what you like, Vic…it makes things more interesting, and if anyone doesn’t want to see a new Iron Man picture they can just scroll right on past.
