new iron man 2 trailer Second Official Iron Man 2 Trailer is Awesome

What better way to end the evening of the Oscars with a brand new trailer for our most anticipated movie of the year, Iron Man 2. Earlier this week we reported that following the 82nd Academy Awards Ceremony, Robert Downey Jr. would be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live and bringing with him something fans would have to stay tuned in for to see: The second, brand new Iron Man 2 trailer!

Director Jon Favreau informed the world this week that the trailer would appear online shortly after it airs as part of this evening’s Jimmy Kimmel Live so the international viewers don’t have to wait and here it finally is:

The first Iron Man 2 trailer gave us our first glimpse of Don Cheadle as War Machine and some shots of other new characters joining the franchise, including Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash. This new trailer gives us a whole bunch more!

Watch and enjoy:

Holy cow… we’ve got more of Natasha, more War Machine and yes, we were RIGHT: Suitcase collapsible armor, baby!! Our own Paul Young was the first person to deduce that there would be a version of the armor that is a long time staple of the comic book: Compact, collapsible and portable Iron Man armor.

Seeing this tonight makes me that more excited to find out who will be joining the cast of Captain America and what the characters and sets of Thor look like. It’s a good time to be a comic fans or moviegoer.

  1. Yeah, I imagine Whiplash's suit will either be revealed on the cusp of the film's release or just saved as a reveal within the film.

  2. LOL

  3. That portable suit is the Silver Centurion suit form Issue 200. Don't ask how I know that.

  4. Heh! Thanks guys. I'm stoked that they actually made it look realistic.

  5. Heh! Thanks guys. I'm stoked that they actually made it look realistic.

  6. I don't know they try to let you see the drama with the cuts to Tony being introspective in the face of the government wanting total control and men attacking him on a person to person level. They've tried to feed you just enough to make you wonder how it will turn out. Rather than hold back on the eye candy they are saying to me, we went out there on the gadgets but their is a story here beyond that. The trailers that are really contemptible are the ones that allow you to see the ending. That's the ones that really suck…

  7. I agree, I betting that Whiplash's suit is Fav's ace card for this film. Wondering if there sticking to the comics on how Stark's wins the Armor Wars?

  8. This trailer reveals a little more than the first. i like Hammer enlisting Whiplash, his new armor is gonna be DEADLY! They're keepin' it secret I guess.

I actually think Don Cheadle emotes better than T. Howard. Rhodes always balanced Tony well. During the Armor Wars, Rhodey keeps everything afloat for Tony, and while he dealt with his alcoholism, Rhodey kept the IM torch burning.

Stark is super cool and the best Iron Man, if you consider human weakness and narcissism essential to a deep character, BUT Rhodey is a better soldier, able to keep a better head under pressure… and he's a better shot! However, Rhodey never took risks like Stark.

If this film leads into the eventual Avengers team-up, does it also tie-in to Iron Man 3? It would be interesting to see a hint of Mandarin or Fin Fang Foom for the third part, but is there room? There will already have to be some connection with either Thor/Hulk/CAP AMERICA, in order to lead into Avengers. Possibly Hank Pym or Dr. Banner? And STILL… Iron Man 2 needs to stand on its own. I hope Favreau pulled it off, this film needs to be a smooth transition piece, if its not… things could get real messy down the road.

  9. Roarke better get better armor quick, he's got so much skin exposed it wouldnt take more than a beat cop with a decent aim to end his career as a super-villain.

The suitcase armor for Iron Man doesn't look quite as tough as the regular armor, it gives him sort of a whimpy look like Ultra Man (from the 70's if anyone remembers that).

  10. I tried editing my first sentence but Disqus is having issues…….(better twice in the same sentence, well slap mah fro)

  11. THAT…..WAS……INRCEDIBLE!!!!

  12. THAT…..WAS……INRCEDIBLE!!!!

  13. THAT…..WAS……INRCEDIBLE!!!!

  14. Wow, this is so Epic. I love seeing Black Widow get down & nasty.

And I want Suitcase armor badly. If we can't have Boba Fett Rocket packs, suitcase armor will be a good substitute.

  15. Oh man, I may need a change of pants.

  16. woooowwwwww
    love the SUITcase…Black Widow roxxx!!!
    just cant wait

  17. Only 2 months left people. Be patient…be patient.

  18. Osmosis? :)

If only the Silver Centurion suit had looked half that good…

Maybe it's some kind of Freudian zipperfear, but I'd certainly want to make sure I was “fully secured” in the underwear department before putting that one on.

  19. Holy Crap! I'm so excited I can't contain myself! That was just awesome!

  20. I'd be interested to know what exactly the dozen or so people who hit “Terrible” in response to that actually want from an Iron Man movie. If they weren't geek-spasming so intensely they hit the wrong key, that is.

  21. I think I wet myself watching that trailer……….

  22. Only thing that worries me is the cgi. It was great in the first one so let's just hope some of these scenes aren't finished.

  23. Yeap, I think you're right about the armor. I've been expecting it for a long time now and I wonder if it'll be the Crimson Dynamo..

  24. I hope we get to see Scarlett talk… I'm still curious about the accent.

  25. TBH, most of the armor combat CGI doesn't impress me at all. Same with the first movie other than the flight scene with the planes.

  26. Unfortunately… the toothpicks which were propping up my eyelids broke, and yours truly slept through the Jimmy Kimmel post-Oscar show.

However, I'm truly grateful that the new IM2 trailer has been posted here, because my VCR screwed up on me and didn't tape all of Jimmy Kimmel last night. So I watched the IM2 trailer this afternoon, and yes… I had a serious geekspasm afterward.

Thank you SO incredibly for this. Y'all made my day. :)

  27. There's always a hater in the bunch…CGI isn't impressive? Would you prefer claymation?

  28. What does worrying about the cgi have to do with being a hater? If I don't think IM2 is the best movie ever am I a hater?

  29. Sissiepooh

    you still use a vcr?
