extended ironman2 trailer New Iron Man 2 Extended Trailer

If the first trailer got fans hot and bothered, the new Iron Man 2 trailer put fans of the first film in nirvana. Some folks online say they’ve deduced the entire plot of the film based on the two trailers, and I suppose in a general sense you can discern how the story will go from them. However I believe that director Jon Favreau will no doubt have some surprises in store for us when May 7 rolls around.

In any case, I thought it would be fun to try to combine the two Iron Man trailers into one, extended uber-trailer.

Now please keep in mind I’m not video editing wizard – as a matter of fact this extended Iron Man 2 trailer is my first attempt ever at doing anything like this… but I did it for you folks, so be gentle. icon smile New Iron Man 2 Extended Trailer

So without further delay, here it is for you – all 3 minutes and 45 seconds worth of Iron Man goodness:

Iron Man 2 opens on May 7, 2010.

  1. that was pretty good, some of the parts where really badly cut/edited non the less it was pretty good.

mickey rourke does the best russian inpersonation/accent i have ever seen.

  2. Thanks. First time ever and I had no idea how to edit the audio to smooth things over. :)

  3. may is probably gonna be a sick month. I have finals, then iron man, then a bachelor party, then rock on the range in ohio.

  4. Hey, Vic nevertheless you did a good job. Or I mean, it was a really nice try coming from a beginner :) I'm pretty sure I'm much less skilled on this than you. Lol, btw I was like 'Huh? There's a another new, longer trailer?! Yikes!' when I read the post title. I'm kinda glad it wasn't as it's enough footage seen already for me. I'm not gooing to make the same mistake as with the first movie, when I had seen a lot before hitting the cinemas. So I guess you were so excited for this film that it actually kind of inspired you to give it a shot at editing videos. Very nice from you Vic, and keep developing those skills! ;)

  5. Very cool, Vic!

  6. Nice job, not perfect, but pretty damn cool.

  7. You're spot on about Rourke, his accent is fantastic, him just being in this movie makes it something to see, as if it wasnt already!

  8. Loved it! Thanks so much. Looks great to me :-)

  9. Very cool mix. You combined that better than most beginners. Good job

  10. Excellent job here Vic. For a beginner it is a really good start.
To be truthful, I really like what you have done with this video than both trailers Paramount put it. This is more fleshed out and shows a progression where as I felt that the official trailers showed you some money shots and some story bits.

And I'm not just saying that because I visit this site. Really great work here, Vic.

  11. What i have to come yo know about this is that it is an early version of the War Machine armor, while others have suggested that it is actually Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) or even Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) wearing the Mark II armor.

    smart lipo

  12. Solid enough, I'd say. It's hard to put in good transitions when trailer are so spliced together to begin with and what to do with music and such. The sense of progression with the story works, though.

  13. Awesome.

  14. SOOOOOOOO kick ass. love the iron man suit in a case. i was wondern how they were going to do something like that. so stoked for this.

  15. I predict either or Micky Rourke RDJ will be nominated for an Oscar for Iron Man 2 next year.I doubt either will actually get it but for Iron Man 3, with the “demon in a bottle” theme, I think RDJ will finally win his well deserved Oscar.

  16. Yes, your trailer (or the two seperate ones) give alot away, but seeing it all at once in your version has me pumped. :)

  17. Hell, I think they could have gotten away with just a 3 second trailer showing the name Ironman being stamped into a metal plate, “clank!” :-D

  18. is it just me or does sam rockwell's character look a little like austin powers when he's talking to whiplash?

  19. Great job!

  20. Thanks, I really did try to work a bit of story progression in there. :)

  21. Cazatron

I was thinking the same exact thing. He looks so much like him there.

  22. Great stuff, man!

I think the only change I would suggest is that the “suit in a suitcase” bit looks like it comes just after Stark is attacked on the race track, then there is another quick cut of Iron Man fighting Whiplash on the track, which I would guess leads to his capture, then he's handed over to Sam Rockwell's character. It doesn't make for as cool and ending, but if you're going for chronology, it's a better fit.

    Keep it up!

  23. man that was nicely done.

  24. That was pretty cool, thanks man. This movie is gonna kick all kinds of box office butt!

  25. That looks freakin´ awesome. Can´t wait to see the movie!

  26. That's what I like about it. You get an understand of what you are going to get when you watch the film with this trailer. Yes, it gives stuff away as in story bits but it is a sequel to a popular film. It is not like people are not going to see it, right.
    Again, good stuff! Thumbs Up!

  27. Nice job for your first time editing video, Vic!

  28. Nice work, Vic. I thought the one obvious jump (“The suit and I are one” to a very brief Iron Man and straight back to “You can forget it”) actually worked better with it being that abrupt than it might have done if you'd tried to overlay a few frames of sound to smooth the transition. Good to see that “You complete me” scene in there again; it made the later “I want one”/”No” exchange carry more weight. It might be overkill, but how do you think it might look if you added in something of those two establishing shots of the “stadium” (?) from the beginning of the second trailer, instead of the Paramount and Marvel logos? You've got a whole second to play with there, or would that be “guilding the lily”?!

  29. A new level of Geekdom ! I'm sweating inside ! Glad they're working the character and story. At least from the trailer…Could it outshine the first?! Bring it on!
