Scott Pilgrim vs The World official image2 New Images: Scott Pilgrim, Cop Out, MacGruber & More

A bunch of new images have recently appeared online for what are sure to be some anticipated movies simply as a result of the people involved, not necessarily how good the movies look themselves. They are the new Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) comic book adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs. The World; the new comedy Cop Out directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks); MacGruber, the movie based on the Saturday Night Live sketch; and Your Highness, an historical comedy from the director of Pineapple Express and starring the likes of Danny McBride, James Franco and Zooey Deschanel.

The image above is actually the first of two official images released for Edgar Wright’s fantasy-comedy Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which stars Michael Cera as the titular character who must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. Although as anyone who has read the original comic series will probably tell you, it’s not as simple as that.

One of the photos released is just of the main cast lined up which can be seen as the above header, but the other one is pretty damn sweet indeed: it shows Cera wielding some sort of red flaming sword whilst his girlfriend and one of the evil ex-boyfriends (Jason Schwartzman) watch from atop a pyramid in some sort of futuristic nightclub. Sound strange? Take a look for yourself (click for bigger versions):

  1. I have to say, I’m a Michael Cera fan. I really enjoy the characters he plays even if they seem to overlap. Guy’s like Cera, and Joseph Gordon Levitt really prove to me that all is not lost.

  2. It better be good cuz damn did Edgar Wright take a long ass time to finish this movie. He’s holding up my Ant-Man movie. Hurry up dude and get crackin on this Ant-man project. Damn.

  3. I -REALLY- hope this movie gives Winstead the recognition she deserves and lines up more movies for her.

  4. I love Edgar Wright! I’m always slightly apprehensive when him and Simon Pegg don’t collaborate on something but I’ve yet to be disappointed. I’m very excited for this movie.

  5. Does anyone know if Shia LaBeouf will be in the MacGruber movie? That would be pretty sweet if he was. I enjoyed the skit where Shia played MacGruber’s gay/sexually curious son.

  6. Ha!Ha!! Aaron, I remember that one.
I think MacGruber is going to be hilarious and a breakout role for Will Forte.

  7. I’ll watch anything and everything with Zooey Deschanel in it. The girl is pure talent and cute as hell. Hopefully she sings in the movie as well. Sign me up!

  8. Hey ogb, have you seen “Live Free or Die”. Zooey has a small role in that one.
So far her BEST perfomance (imo) was in Weeds.

  9. Ross, you are definitely missing out on something spectacular with MacGruber.
The Michael Cera movie sounds great, as does the historical comedy. From the trailer, Cop Out looks downright awful.

  10. 790

That movie is on my Netflix queue. Thanks for the recommendation.

  11. I can’t see how they can make a whole movie out of MacGruber. I think the sketch is one of the better ones on SNL nowadays, but I really don’t think it has enough for a movie. My favorite one was when Richard Dean Anderson was on SNL and played MacGyver. Still, if they can make a movie from this, what’s next, Toonces the Driving Cat??

  12. Andy I didn’t see how they could make a film about a ride at Disneyland but they did. :-)
