halo movie master chief Awesome New Halo Video Brings Excitement For Movie

The last we heard on the Halo feature film project was from a few weeks back when rumors popped up online that Steven Spielberg would be involved with the adaptation of the record-breaking successful Microsoft/Bungee video game franchise, Halo.

At the time, it was reported that Spielberg may produce the film but Microsoft came out and clarified that the film was still on hold in order for them to focus on their upcoming installments for the Halo video game franchise: Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.

With ODST coming out in the coming weeks, that means more marketing and more awesome videos for the franchise. On that note, we have an awesome new one to show you as well a look-back on the 7-minute short made by District 9 director, Neill Blomkamp, for Halo 3.

For those not familiar with the next installment into the Halo franchise, Halo 3: ODST is a standalone expansion to 2007’s Halo 3. This time around though, instead of playing Master Chief or his Elite friend, the Arbiter, you are merely one of the human UNSC soldiers known as Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) during the events prior to Halo 3.

Here is the awesome live-action trailer for Halo 3: ODST which again, reminds us of what we could have seen or still will see with a film adaptation:

Halo 3: ODST

Awesome, right? It’s powerful and it definitely works as a great recruitment video.

    Wait… which 5% didn’t suck?

I guess wherever principle photography was taking place, unless you’re looking to audition for any major roles in which case LA would likely be your best bet.

  2. I’m partially disagreeing about ODST. I bought it like first day because I used to be a hardcore halo gamer. I returned it 4 days later after I beat it and didn’t have any friends to play firefight with. I mean i liked the approach they went with in you being human and all but it still is the same game honestly. Yes the SMG is sweet and so is the silenced pistol (ala halo combat evolved) but the gameplay is still basically the same. Sure you gotta play a bit more tactical and hide behind cover to let your stuff recharge but did you ever play halo on legendary? you had to do the exact same thing. Not by any means am I saying the game is crap but its more of the same stuff honestly. And even tho I love the protagonist (the rookie) he is basically a human version of masterchief (strong silent type) The story is pretty cool and I like the detective feel to uncovering the plot of what happens in New Mombasa but something is missing. When i first heard rumors of this I heard they were making a Rainbow 6 style Halo game which I thought could be extremely interesting twist on the halo genre. I could go on and on about how cool it would be to have a squad of ODST to command but thats not the point since the game has already been created. I am however eagerly anticipating halo reach because bungie has said it will be familiar but also very different and that you will have to read the intstructions… whatever that means.

Anyways, about the trailers.. both are awesome. thats so nutty that neil b directed those halo shorts because I watched those about 2 years ago when they were on xbox live and I was thinking how phat it would be if they could make that into a feature length film. I guess he did but it wasn’t halo… Anyways I love the gritty feel and shaky camera of the footage, I hope they go in this direction with the movie if they choose to make it. However I do love masterchief and would of course like to see him featured in the movie as well.

Hey buddy im no hardcore GOW fan but your talking about the bumpmapping in that game? Who notices that kinda stuff? Unless your a designer than I don’t think most people are gonna pick out the detail of some helicopter not looking real enough. I mean honestly GOW 1 and 2 are some of the best looking games period. I know its running on a highly modified unreal 3 engine but if you play it on a 1080p hdmi tv than its pretty breathtaking. I know there are games that look better like Crysis maybe but only a few I can count on my fingers. I’m just curious what titles you think the bump mapping is exceptional in…

  4. Fenix

what kind of loser are you that you return the game four days after beating it? People like you that ruin it for everyone else el cheapo.

  5. Hey guy i beat the game and had nothing left to do…. what do you expect.. Trust me i’ve played halo to deathh over the past 5 years of my life It’s prolly a good thing I returned it. And yea im cheap I’m in college sorry I want a game that has some lasting value… Don’t be so quick to make a judgment tough guy

  6. Fenix

you’re in college? that’s a lame excuse for buying a game and then taking it back when you’re done with it. if you need to save money because you’re in college how about you not buy the game at all tough guy.

  7. M-Cat

Me being in college is not an “excuse” bud I thought I would just give you a little perspective on myself as to why I’m not rolling in cash… my mistake. And did you not read my earlier post that illustrates the fact that I am a hardcore halo fan. Obviously I’m going to get the game no matter what the response from fans. Oh and I’m so sorry for voicing my opinion but I just was a little disappointed by the game since I love the halo universe so much. Do you work for bungie? is that why you question my motifs?

  8. Fenix

I did read your earlier post.

My post has nothing to do with your opinion of the game. It doesn’t matter if you are a hardcore Halo fan or not. It’s the fact that you bought the game and took it back after beating it a week later. Do you drink a gallon of milk and then take it back saying you didn’t like how it tasted? I didn’t like the game very much either but I didn’t return it a week later. I sold it on ebay. Some people just like to take advantage of the system.

  9. I don’t see how he’s ruining it for everyone else. The console market is doing TOO well actually, allowing the game companies to charge ridiculous amounts for console games and people are still willing to buy them… If anything, Fenix helped people by adding a used game title for someone who might enjoy the game more to buy it at a reduced price that’s closer to the price of a brand new (and superior) PC game, lol.

  10. You guys want to justify it in your own way then at least I can say I tried. Nuff said.

  11. M-Cat

Actually, what he did helped the “system” more… They earned a hefty profit from selling it to him for the “new” price of what, $60-$70 now for console games? (RIP OFF!)

Then he sells it back for probably $15, then they resell it at “used” price of $45 probably. So the first time they probably made a profit of like $50 at least, then the second time they profit $30. Fenix is the one that lost $45 at least for a game he didn’t even get to keep.

I’m against what he did too, but only because I think it’s a rip off for him. I’d rather just keep the game since I know I’m not going to get squat for it if I sold it back to gamestop or whatever…

I doubt he actually “Returned” it like he said, they won’t take an opened game, he probably traded it in or sold it to them as used, so I’m sure he lost money on the deal…

  12. Ken

not sure why you’re defending him when he clearly stated he “returned” it.

  13. way to give him an excuse ken. lol

  14. @M-Cat

I’m not defending anyone, I am using common sense. Retailers don’t take back opened games and give refunds for them. If you didn’t know that, well, you know that now in case you were thinking about trying that, lol. :-D

  15. nah sorry i don’t do crap like that.

  16. Yah, I own a lot of games that I was sorry to have paid money for, but that’s what I get for not waiting for reviews before spending my money, so it’s my loss…

  17. The only reason I'm pleased with buying ODST is that I didn't actually own copies of Halo, Halo 2, or Halo 3. This was a great way for me to get my hands on a nice little campaign and on all the maps.

  18. Other than the two sides of the argument, you and M-Cat read really similarly. If I didn't know better, I'd swear you are arguing with yourself. xD
