Oh thanks for the warning jim.

Jim Carey says:

no commentator,

The best thing about Wall-E is, it doesn’t feature Lex Luthor, Mary Jane Watson, or any comic book characters symbolized known for using playing cards.

No Commenter says:

Well this was a forum discussing Iron Man.
But,
The best films about robots will allways be Blade Runner and Artificial Intelligence.

Jim Carey says:

one out of two ain’t bad.

Vic won’t mind unless I start making cracks about shellhead.

Screen Rant says:

I for one am dying to bring my 11 y.o. daughter to see Iron Man.

And Wall-E has nothing to do with Short Circuit, but you already know that.

Vic

Jim Carey says:

vic, i knew you’d come out of the woodwork for that.

Panda says:

“It may be a fan fave, but it won’t have staying power and I sorta doubt the sick and twisted Joker face will appear on many Apple Jacks boxes.”

Why not, Mary Lou Retton was all over the Wheaties boxes and her smile is just as scary

IM has a lot more opportunity in the merchandising dept that TDK I think (side note), with toys and the like. As a property, it will be a 3M (massive-money-maker). TDK will be a better movie tho :)

Jim Carey says:

Panda, you had me up till that last sentence.

Also, Mary Lou Retton??!! So funny. I see I’m not the only senior citizen writing to Screen Rant.

QUOTE FROM NO COMMENTOR: “They should all be dark and rated R.”

Who wants little kids in the theatre anyway. Kids are great an all but they shouldn’t have any influence on Superhero films.”

Look, dude, 50% of Batman’s fanbase is made up of kids, believe it or not. And unless they’re doing Killing Joke or Arkham Assylum then a Batman film should NEVER be rated “R”. A Batman film that’s true to the source material wouldn’t be rated “R”, it would be PG-13. There’s a way to do these films so they’re appealing to adults and long time fans but are still something a tween could see without it being condescending (like Spider-Man). Kids and families LOVE Batman, there is no reason why a Batman film should be rated R, it would only exclude those people from it and take away from what the film does at the BO. And besides, studios LOVE the big monies that are made on kids when they buy all the action figures from a film, and why in the hell would kids buy toys from an R rated film? It just doesn’t make sense on ayone’s part to do a film about a character as well known and loved as Batman that’s an R. As long as it’s true to source, a true fan will enjoy it no matter what it’s rated. Batman TAS was a cartoon for godsake and it is dubbed THE BEST superhero animated series of ALL time because it was so close to the comix. :-)

“To say that nobody knows about TDK because of the title is sooo off base. Everyone I know that’s a Batman film fan totally knows about this film.”

…..duh. Of course Batman fans are aware of TDK! right now, they’re mostly the ONLY people who know about it. Which is why they need to get other people aware of it, the people who are ware of Batman but not part of the fanbase, the people that may be aware of Batman but they won’t know what the hell The Dark Knight is, which is why Batman should be included in the film’s title somewhere. And the advertisements should focus more on Batman then the demented version of the Joker that Nolan is giving us. People need to see some postitive, more heroic type things about TDK when it’s advertised in order to get them to see it. They need to know it’s not Batman Returns. ;-)

But I’m sure in the following months when TDK merchandise arrives in stores WB will start advertising BATMAN in TDK a little more and trying to get families to see the movie. And Batman will probably appear on cereal boxes. ;-)

And Vic, take your kid to see IM! :-D

KEL says:

Sorry about the messy last paragraph, guys.

“the advertisements should focus more on Batman then the demented version of the Joker”

My biggest complaint about this movie is ‘the demented…Joker. I’m into Hero movies, not Villain movies (although, I dug Cloverfield). The movie looks like splattergore.

–*
My second biggest complaint is that the hype is centered on the demented Joker. This probably would have changed, but now I anticipate the ads continuing to stress the bad guy by saying “Heath Ledger’s chilling final major role.”

“They need to know it’s not Batman Returns”

Holy Great Ceasar’s Ghost, Batman–no!!

“And Batman will probably appear on cereal boxes”

Yeah, but the adult ones, like Shredded Wheat, Grape Nuts, and Meuslix (eww, I hate even typing that word).

790 says:

Gheesh like I care about cereal box covers and burger king ty-ins.
(I want an action packed 2 hour thrill ride!).
This Dark Knight film has 4 Villians basically:The Joker, Two-face, a *corrupt cop* and The Riddler.

Batmans such a fricken Hero that he’s able to stop them all unless Jim you think Batman looses in the end?
Jim I think your basing your comments on the FIRST Batman trailers

I’m sure we have yet to see the final trailer. And I think its great that there holding back the Batman footage.
Too think that the demented Joker, the Title of this film or even the PG-13 rating will in any way hurt this film is crazy.
Iron Man is going to turn the tide and everyones going to see TDK because there going to want to be blown away like they were watching Iron Man.
They could call the film Jokers revenge and it would still break a hundred mil

790 says:

Btw, this isn’t Heath Ledgers last film.
Heath was currently shooting on the new Terry Gilliam film.
Gilliam has reported that he’s going to keep Ledgers footage in the movie and recast around his character.

Brian W. says:

While Batman Begins was way better than any of the previous Batman films, i still found it a bit dull. Hopefully the new one will be better but really the Joker is what i’m most interested in seeing.

However, i’m interested in just about every part of the Iron Man movie.

BTW, i hate how comic book films tend to kill all the villains at the end. What made these villains popular was that they kept returning in the comics.

FISS01 says:

Stinking trailers!!!

That just show u the entire movie, if u go to see the full motion picture, is just to know what happens between the scenes shown here, and fortunately the bore ones and the ending, but let me guess, the bad guy dies and he keeps the girl, and maybe war machine appears just in time to save iron’s ass at 4/5 of the movie.

dammit!!!

But the trailer is very well done though, good editing.

Thomas says:

So, anyone else think that the quick shot of the terrorist leader playing with a ring is significant?

It’s at 34 seconds.

Seems fishy to me.

Jim Carey says:

GREAT FIND! Maybe it’s foreshadowing a sequel. I’ll be watching to see if this guy at some point becomes “missing, presumed dead.”

Adrian says:

I and most of the community on IM myspace believe it’s Mandy. The terrorists also gives Stane the prototype Mark I plans. IMHO, Mandy got the burn mark from IM’s flamethrower attack.

Thomas says:

There’s the possibility that he’s one of the Mandarin’s “hands”. Didn’t he give out his rings to his servants and call them his “hands” at one point?

Seeing as how this character only has one ring that would make sense. Plus it allows Favreau to have Mandy lurking in the background but cast a better known actor in the part in a sequel.

Of course, I could be wrong about all that.
