Hmmmmmm…

Something about it looks a little ‘fan-art-y’, if you ask me. It’s too dark (particularly on the mask) and the supporting cast looks a bit ‘tacked on’.

Ah, well… I never did know a poster to diminish a good movie… but it’ll be nice if we get something a little classier before release day.

Well they could have gone about 6 different ways on this poster. Just showing Iron Man 5 different ways would have been fine with most Iron Man fans but the non-fans wouldn’t be sold. This poster yes does look a little Phantom Menace but it shows all the main characters and Iron Man takes up the other half basically.
I think its a homeRun!! Great for everyone!! I’m sure will get some alternate fan versions at Comic Con and other avenues…

I’m really thinking this role is going to revive Robert
Downeys career in a big way! (Not that he realy needs it).
But»
The Hollywood Acadamy loves him I wouldn’t be surprised if Iron Man is nominated for at least more that one Oscar.
The Dark Knight as well
The next Oscars are IMO going to nominate some of the big sci-fi films coming out this year.

There were rumors that Heath Ledger was going to get the nom. for the Joker. I’m not sure now but it opens up the catagory a bit.

The ABC network knows that to get their ratings back there going to have to see some changes in the nominations next year. The younger generation dosnt care about the show because there’s nothing there for them to relate to…
IMO with all the huge superhero and sci-fi films coming out this year were going to see it effect the next Oscars. Hopefully for the better for everyone.

Best poster yet! Too dark? Umm.. ok…

I agree with the fan-art vibe, however I do like it.
This say to the average person that just happens to encounter the poster at a bus stop, that it’s not just a some colourful robot movie that perhaps might be in CGI through and through.

It has people, jetfighters, explosions & even a girl in it. (Oh yea, that is a subset of people) ;)

Feels like a fan-made poster. Awesome, none the less.

Hey guys, updated this with the international version of the poster.

There’s no need to make excuses for this poster. It’s PERFECT! Come on, the Star Wars layout is cool … it’s all part of the fun, and Jon is clearly having a lot of fun working on this movie. And there’s nothing to change about the facial expressions or Pepper’s posture. The tone and details of the classic comics have been nailed so perfectly, it’s just eerie.

WOW! I like them! I like the first one best, but they’re both great, IMO. I love the old school Star Wars looking posters (glad they used that look for the prequel posters!), they always had such a cinematic larger than life feel to them, like you when you went to see that movie you were actually going on a trip to another world instead of just going to the movies. :-)
I’ve got to buy me one of those! =D

And this is probably a dumb question, but humor me with an answer anyway, when will we be seeing this poster in theaters? :-)

I like the first one better, but they both look great. Love the style they used and not some random single shot like other posters.

I like the international one better, but I’d rather see a larger version of Rhodey in that. International trailers and posters seem to be later, in general, these days.

It’s funny… international posters as well as trailers always seem to be better than the U.S. versions. Don’t know why that is.

Kel, your wishes are answered …. it is in theatres NOW!! Went to see Charlie Bartlett last night and there was this beautiful poster looking back at me. I almost shouted out loud!! Took photos of it too. When I got home I logged in and there it was … a yahoo alert leading me to this beautiful poster.

Vic, imo, it is great, very dramatic and eye-catching. A little dark but very well done. Next time at the theatre I am going to watch to see how well it attracts those walking by, maybe even ask a few what they think and if it would compel them to go see it.

Both are excellent and must haves! IMHO, the first is better.

Wow they both look real good.
It looks like they were designed by the same artist.
I could go ether way.

I think the international poster is a terrible composition. Iron Man doesn’t have a dynamic presence, and just looks weak. The addition of the city skyline is pointless, and the explosion and the helicopters are cheesy at best. I just want to shove the cluster of three figures over to the left and enlarge the armor.

The U.S. version has a lot more class and fills the space. I see IRON MAN immediately when I look at that version, and the rest of the figures compliment nicely.

Thanks, Joyce! I’m soooooooooo happy! That means I can BUY the pic and when I go to the mall I can show my friends and fam it! SWEET! :-)
I hope they give mini posters of this away on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! :-D
How was Charlis Bartlett?

I think they’re both awesome!! The European one is a little too busy, but cool nonetheless. I love the Star Wars type layout.

This movie is gonna kick azz!!!

LOL, Jim, if I eventually get my hands on some you can be sure I’ll run another poster contest. :-)

Speaking of posters, Vic, it would be awesome if you could get your mitts on that Bond teaser poster without the movie name. That one kicks butt!!

Niall said,

I also like the international film poster. It does have a Star Wars thing going on, but it is also quite Brosnan era-Bond!
