As much as I loved Jericho, I've been waiting for someone to finally jump on making a show like it. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

@TK, YES, that's what the description of this reminded me of, lol. I went googling 90's sci fi shows and was finding other shows that I remember watching like Earth 2, lol, I bet if I watch them now they will be so cheesy and stupid, lol.

It would be nice if there were some characters over 35 in it. Think about it. Most of the successful shows have at last 1/4 of the cast that's over that age. Currently for example, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, CSI franchise, L&O franchise, even Heroes is still hanging on and fan faves for that show are all over 40 (Petrilli's mom and HRG)! So unless they add some mature characters I'm afraid this show will be an epic fail.

Hey JoeJoe, that sounds like Night of The Comet. There's a classic! LOL! But who knows. They have used that plot over and over. The only thing that changes is how they kill everything.

Sleuths:

The future of both LEGALLY MAD and LOST & FOUND were put on temporary hold. Or, as they've been doing, will decide later.

It seems that at the moment, they're in the running for a possible mid-season run, if DAY ONE doesn't hold up.

I think I remember the movie you are refering to. It was a 1974 TV movie, on NBC I think, called "Where Have All the People Gone". It stared Peter Graves.

Plot summary from IMDB: "A strange series of solar flares proves fatal for inhabitants of the Earth, except for the fortunate few who are somehow immune from the effects. Animals go insane and human beings turn to white powder, leaving behind only empty clothing. A handful of survivors attempt to rebuild their lives on the de-populated Earth."

Yes gang, a V is coming.

Cookie Garris:
yes, they did and then NBC did a 1/2 assed, short changed effort at finishing off a story and a 2nd season.

Viny, et al:
Can we say THIRD WATCH? Hell of a show and it covered many different aspects of the emer. response cadre of under recognized civil servants known as cops and firemen.

I've heard only ONE interesting tidbit about DAY ONE, but before I splather it here, I'm trying to confirm it... and I find it interesting because NBC doesn't seem to be sharing this tidbit too publicly.

Also, keep an eye out for my mention of CHUCK in my weekly TV rant. Most interesting, if not foretelling indeed.

An interesting line up of 'new' shows. Inverted commas because they all sound quite familiar to shows I used to watch back in the mid 90's.

As for Chuck, I am not too fussed if they cancel it because the last episode was the best ending they could have hoped for.

Here's looking towards the next year of television....

@ Ken J,
The Steven King book and Miniseries "The Stand" has a govt. created Superflu that kind of follows that premise. It was on TV over 10 years ago. Maybe that's what your thinking of?

So they rip off Jericho dumb it down a bit and replace it with a 20 something supermodel cast. Dear god I am starting to hate Television. I never thought I would say that TV is a passion of mine, but they are slowly killing it off.

I might be thinking about something different actually, I think the show I'm thinking about involves some disease that kills off most of the planet's population except a small group of immune people? Doesn't anyone know what show that is??
