While Marvel hasn’t quite dominated television in the same way they have in the box office, they’ve made quite a name for themselves on Netflix. With the well-received launches of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the street-level Marvel heroes are off to a good start with more on the way. Luke Cage hits the streaming service this fall, and filming of Iron Fist is already well underway, with a Defenders team-up series on the horizon and a Punisher spinoff expected in the future as well.

The production of Iron Fist is shrouded in secrecy, with only a handful of confirmed castings, and almost no details about the story. Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) is playing Danny Rand, the billionaire heir who becomes the martial artist hero, Iron Fist. In the comics, Danny travels from his home in New York to K’un L’un and studies to fight to avenge his parents’ deaths at the hand of a traitorous former business partner. Now, we may have some idea of a new actor joining Jones in the Netflix series.

The Afghan Bollywood actor and stuntman, Sameer Ali Khan (Rock the Kasbah), has seemingly revealed in an Instagram post that he would be joining the cast of Iron Fist in New York City by hashtagging both the show name and the location. Of course, since Marvel has yet to confirm the casting, this Instagram post should be taken with a grain of salt as Khan’s #ironfist hashtag may not necessarily be referring to the Netflix series.

Still, it’s entirely possible that Khan isn’t playing a named character at all, and instead he’s been hired for his expertise in stuntwork. It’s unlikely he’ll be working as the stunt coordinator, since Brett Chan (Marco Polo) is already filling that role. But Khan’s three month commitment and must-shave requirement seem to indicate that his on-screen involvement is significant, making it seem unlikely that he’ll be playing a random goon for Danny Rand to put down.

Danny’s foremost rival Harold Meachum has already been cast, and it’s unclear who else he’s scheduled to tango with during the course of the series. Even Khan’s ethnicity offers few clues, since Marvel has shown no qualms about race-mixing minor or supporting characters in their live action adaptations. Some are guessing Davos The Steel Serpent, who once stole the power of the Iron Fist from Danny Rand. Die-hard Iron Fist fans are encouraged to place their best guesses in the comments section.
