Natalie Portman Cries A Lot Natalie Portman Cries A Lot [Video]

Natalie Portman is one of the hottest young actresses in Hollywood. But she isn’t new to the scene and has played a variety of roles in her 17-year film career. It’s easy to see why Portman continues to get opportunities – she is beautiful, talented, charismatic and dynamic. She also cries a heck of a lot. We compiled as many of her onscreen weeps as we could fit in a 3-minute mashup video and still left out nearly 10 minutes of footage!

Portman is fresh off her latest tear-jerking role as Nina in Black Swan and soon sheds tears again in The Other Woman. We scoured the rest of her work and found over 45 scenes in which the water works were flowing. Crying is definitely listed in the Special Skills section of this girl’s résumé.

It is truly amazing how easy Portman finds it to cry on command. In mashup form, it looks likes she does it at least a few times in every production. Few actresses can pull that off, let alone even try. While it may seem like she simply chooses roles that include a crying scene, one can assume casting directors simply know she is the very best at it. While this mashup may provide a humorous look at her excessive crying, we should also applaud her incomparable ability.

Watch our montage of Natalie Portman’s best crying scenes and a list of films involved below.

  1. The Professional
  2. Star Wars Prequel Trilogy
  3. Where The Heart Is
  4. Cold Mountain
  5. Garden State
  6. Closer
  7. Free Zone (Portman cries without interruption for the first 8 minutes straight)
  8. V for Vendetta
  9. Goya’s Ghosts
  10. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium
  11. The Other Boleyn Girl
  12. Brothers

The best moments are her most hysterical. The moments that truly jump offscreen are those in which Portman really lets loose and screams herself into the most personal emotional state she can muster. Still, amidst all the awe, Portman has had plenty of hysterical moments in the other sense of the word.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy is full of flaws, and the complaints about it still come in droves. One of Portman’s most high-profile roles included one of the most memorable lines of her career – “Anakin, you’re breaking my heart.” Plenty of fanboys have been sarcastically imitating that overly-dramatic scene since Episode III hit theaters years ago. Few blame the actors for their poor performances, but that is an entirely different discussion.

Many actors have a special talent that seems to follow them into every role. Al Pacino is legendary for his yelling and Cameron Diaz apparently has a clause in her acting contract that includes an obligatory dancing-in-her-panties scene. There are plenty of memes just waiting to be created in mashup form, like a compilation of Kristen Stewart’s brooding looks or Robert De Niro’s confident smirks. But we’ll get to making those later ;-).

For now, what do you think about Natalie Portman’s excessive crying?

  1. Still one of the most talented and sexy actresses out there

and i’ll bet theres gonna be no crying in “Your Highness”

  2. It’s funny cause it’s true! lol

  3. She was terrible in Star Wars. Can’t blame anyone for that but her.

She is however, super hot and therefore, forgiven all cinematic discretions.

    • Actually DrSamBeckett… you can blame Lucas. Everyone was bad because of him. His dialogue is infamous.

    • Our Nat kinda lets rip a bit more though. :-) (or should that be :-( )

  4. Nice editing, Mike!

  5. a tear for your thought.

  6. Great background song xD
and the ending was just a little bit harsh HA

  7. Good one, Mike. “Ave, Natalie: moriteary te salutant” (“Hail, Senator: those who are about to cry salute you”).

  8. nice ending hahaha

  9. Thats so not fair,….
She cryed a lot in Black Swan too and its not in the vid compilation. ;D
But she’s an amazing actress, no matter what she does she always comes up REALLY great,

    • Andre,

There’s no video footage from Black Swan yet that could have been used by us.

  10. Garden State is such an underrated movie, anyone viewing this should check it out, seeing how you’ve probab;y never heard of it! Great montage lol

  11. is it just me or is keira knightley and portman identical twins, why am i the only one i know that has noticed it?

hell, they may be the same person and shes laughing at everone that still asks the question “whos hotter?”

I never seen them in the same room… at the same time either…

now thats off my chest, great work…

    • Brandon,

      I have to disagree.

At best Keira could be Portman’s slow cousin. Portman is 3x the fox Knightley tries so hard to be. Knightley is lanky, awkward, and worst of all… annoying as hell. She was hot as a pirate (sort of)… which isn’t hard to do considering what she had around her by comparison. Portman is hot shaved head and all. Her face is that of an angel… makeup or no makeup. “Maybe it’s NOT Mayballine”. She’s also banging in the new trailer for “Your Highness”!!! Banging!!!!

Their not even close. Portman 9.5 Keira 5 (in pirates – when she’s not talking). 3.5 (during dialogue).

But as always!!! To each his own… I’m taking Portman. :)

    • Well, she was Portman’s decoy in The Phantom Menace, so clearly George agrees with you on that one!

  12. Your picking Portman over knightly, that’s ridiculous….I think knightly could of saved that awful movie Black Swan. Portman was just plain horrible i’n that movie. She should never have won an Oscar for that. Portman ruined the movie, she did nothing for that movie except ruined what could of been an interestingly twisted character. What a travesty that an Oscar would go to her for that, yikes! She was just so boring, timid, crying constantly with no emotion, all the other actors and actresses were way better than her i’n that movie. Was afraid for her health a’s well, she has cysts on her bulging neck vans from starving herself…. Hopefully she will eat now that she is preggers! Would of loved to see Keira knightly i’n this role, portman never had any compassion for dance or anything i’n this at all, no connect with the audience either, she was uncomfortably awful.

  13. *veins (gotta love iPhone spell checks)

  14. Liked her in Closer, she should of played the role like that but with a dark twist to it. Again the way she “non acted” in black swan was painfully plain and her close ups of the dancing scenes were terrible too, she didnt do any dancing at all……thought this movie was going to be more like Turning Point with a dark scary twist to it, but no this was just weird and tasteless.

  15. Okay, maybe you’ve got a point. But if Natalie crises lots in her roles? what about tom cruise? He “runs” a lots in every movie he’s made since risky business, he’s had a “running” scene… check it out!

    • You are 100% wrong, because Natalie Portman brought us so many movies and not only in Black Swan where she’s great, but all of her movies from her solos, from being a supporting actor. She’s the one with unique and gorgeous acting.

  16. She is the best among the best. She’s that low keyed, down to earth though many hate her after winning so many awards . They are just jealous. She is really the best mate, pair of Chris Hemsworth. They’ve got a greeeeeeaaaaaat Chemistry. We really are waiting for her 2014 movies., though we do not participate for all the comments about her since she was young , but we do love and adore her so much for 20 years.
