The Dark Tower (2017)

  • Rating: Not Yet Rated
  • -Genre: Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi

Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil.

The Dark Tower is based on the works by Stephen King and combines elements from various novels of the series. The project lingered in development hell for years (J.J. Abrams wanted to make it back in 2007) before finally moving forward with the current creative team in 2015. The hope is Dark Tower can launch a new franchise that spans multiple films and a television series. The movie’s plot is actually a continuation of the book series, picking up after the events of The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower.
