If you’re a Screen Rant regular, you may have noticed that every Friday I usually put together a feature to present all of the poster releases of that week, together in one nice post. It was our way of keeping things organized and not have people searching all over the place for a poster here and there as many aren’t newsworthy on their own and get missed.
Well, I’ve not been able to do this since the holidays with Game Rant keeping me busy but I definitely needed to do some catching up on this front, so here are some of the recent posters, specifically ones that focus on upcoming comic book movies. We’ll be looking at official and fan-made posters for Kick-Ass, Green Lantern, The Avengers, Thor, Captain America and Defendor.
Let’s get to it.
First up is the final official one-sheet from HitFix for the eagerly anticipated buzzworthy film Kick-Ass, directed by Matthew Vaughn and set to release April 16th.
Kick-Ass brings to life Mark Millar’s popular characters including the title character Kick-Ass (played by Aaron Johnson) alongside Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage). It’s a must-see flick and one of Screen Rant’s most anticipated of 2010.

Before we get into the fan-made posters for some upcoming Marvel Studios and DC Entertainment films, here’s another official superhero poster of sorts, for Woody Harrelson’s Defendor.
Defendor is written and directed by Peter Stebbings, making his feature film debut. It stars Woody Harrelson as the titular hero along with recognizable supporting actors, Kat Dennings, Elias Koteas and Sandra Oh.

When my man Ryan Reynolds was announced to be playing Hal Jordan in the big budget adaptation of Green Lantern there was an incredible fan-made poster that quickly hit the net that featured him in costume. Make sure to check out the two Ryan Reynolds-Green Lantern posters from before.
Here’s the latest Green Lantern fan-made poster:

What may become the most epic superhero live-action adventure ever, The Avengers is set for a 2012 summer debut bringing together Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and hopefully the Hulk amongst others. There’s a lot of filmwork on the character films before that happens but here’s an older fan-made poster of what may be the roster for The Avengers.

Thor, and I can’t say this enough, has for years been my most anticipated Marvel film. This started years and years ago when rumblings of making this movie first hit the web with names attached that never came to be a part of the production.
As touted, this movie is set to change the genre and I expect nothing but big things from director Kenneth Branagh and his wonderful crew and cast. Here’s a sweet fan-made poster for Thor which tops all previous fake one-sheets for the Mighty God of Thunder and it even hints at what the Asgardian aesthetic may come to look like on screen.

Along with the fan-made thor poster, came this one-sheet for The First Avenger: Captain America. I hope to start hearing announcements on this movie soon as it is set to release the same summer as Thor but hasn’t officially added on cast member yet.

That’s it for our super hero poster round-up. If you know of any awesome fan-made posters, share them in the comments and maybe we can write about them next time.
Of this batch of mostly-fan-made one sheets, my favorite is obviously the Thor poster. What’s yours?

Is Defendor getting a US wide release? Haha, I just realized from clicking on that link to the other Green Lantern fan-made posters that the image I thought was the real costume was fan-made. So do we not know what the real costume looks like I guess?
WOW that Thor poster blew me away
Those fan made posters rock.
Not wild on the fact that Thor has swords.
I really don't like marvel, but that Thor fan made poster is awesome.
That Thor poster is cool as hell. The Defendor poster was pretty lame. I'm REALLY looking forward to Captain America.
Am I correct in thinking that the “Captain America” poster is a real one and not fan-made? If so, I'm liking that.
Some amazing work here! I wonder if the Spider-Man reboot could piggyback the Avengers movie & reintroduce a new Webhead there.
Is there a place I can find these at a higher resolution, or is this it? I'd like to print out the Thor and Cap ones.
“Whosever holds this hammer…” — I got goosebumps reading that. Nice detail and definitely a Thor fan made that one.
Captain America poster is fan-made.
c.america really looks freaking aweseom
Thor is the best. Hands down. The Kick Ass is pretty gnarly, though, as far as official posters go. But, man, that Thor poster is freakin' awesome.
Thanks! Very nicely done. Hope the official one will be as good. Explains why we're only seeing the shield and no faces in it. Should be interesting to see if the film does the Red Skull in all of his freaky, gory glory.
I've not been able to find bigger ones – I'd love the Thor one on my wall too
Agreed!
Those are pretty sweet. That 'Thor' one looked really cool.
BTW, a special thanks to Rob Keyes for lining me out on Gamerant. Great site.
yuk that green lantern tagline makes me terribly sick
also the avenger poster.
This may sound out there but based on what I've been seeing with fan made material from the stills lke these posters to the very impressively done movie trailer mashups like the popular Green Latern one, not to mentioon the Thundercats one, I imagine it won;t be long wbefore we see fan made movies (albeit short versions at first, something within the under 30 minute range) .
Thoughts?
that thor posters is badazz

I recently made these Captain America posters.

The second one was based on the idea of an Avengers series of posters of the lead characters.
