Due Date (read our review) with Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis had to settle for second place, but it took in a decent $33.5 million. The film, which was directed by The Hangover’s Todd Phillips, again shows RDJ’s new and reclaimed star power.

Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls was third, and again the grosses were high. The chick flick which stars Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson, and Kerry Washington banked just over $20 million, showing that the Perry brand is alive and well.

Bruce Willis’ Red brought in another $9 million, upping the action film’s gross to $71 million.

Saw 3D dropped over 63% from its debut last weekend. The horror film has brought in over $39 million since its launch, and it should make a proverbial killing on DVD.

Paranormal Activity 2 took in just under $7.5 million over the weekend. This ups the horror sequel’s cume to $77.5 million.

Jackass 3D grossed $5.1 million, meaning that the 3D prank pic has now grossed a mighty $110 million.

Secretariat continues its long and steady run. The Disney film has now scored $51 million after bringing in another $4 million.

Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter is dropping out of the top ten at an alarming pace. The supernatural drama brought in $4 million, giving it a $28 million total.

The Social Network rounded out the top ten. The David Fincher film has now grossed an impressive $85 million.

Movie News

1. Relativity Media has picked up the film rights to author Michael Drosnin’s Bible Code series in the hopes of releasing the first film in 2012.

Bible Code II Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: November 7, 2010

“The series is based on a 3000 year-old code in the Bible found by a top Israeli scientist and confirmed by a senior code breaker at the US National Security Agency. It reveals momentous historical events, and predicts the future. The code has successfully predicted world events such as the election of President Barack Obama, the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.”

I wonder if it predicted the success of the upcoming film?

2. Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, and Robert De Niro will star in Red Lights for Buried director Rodrigo Cortes.

“Weaver will play a psychologist whose studies in the paranormal lead her to a psychic (De Niro).”

I can only assume that Murphy will play a patient, or a colleague, or a … he could be anything really.

3. HBO has given the green-light to Documental – a half hour comedy that will re-team Tropic Thunder’s Ben Stiller, Justin Theroux, and Steve Coogan.

Stiller will produce the project, while Theroux will write, direct, and star alongside Coogan.

According to Deadline:

“The pilot, which will film in London, stars Theroux as a documentary filmmaker who tracks down his idol, an equally inept filmmaker (Coogan), and documents his return to his craft.”

Sounds like it might be one to watch.

    Excellent, lol.

  2. Hmm, Bible Countdown sounds like a rip off of The DaVinci Code.

    • Well it’s actually the bible code has been proven, as where the davinchi code is just fiction. I highly suggest reading the bible code. If anything the davinchi code ripped off the former.
