Warner Bros. has released a preview kit for its slate of movies being released between January 2011 and December 2011. Included are some of the first images for some highly anticipated movies - as well as their synopses to clue you in.

Included in the preview are such as movies as Sherlock Holmes 2, The Hangover 2, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Sucker Punch, The Rite, Final Destination 5, Red Riding Hood, Hall Pass, Unknown, Born To Be Wild, Something Borrowed, Horrible Bosses, and The Apparition.

That's a lot of movies to preview so let's get started, shall we?

We have the first official image from Sherlock Holmes 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to the hit re-imagining of the classic detective character. Guy Ritchie returns to direct (a job he took on instead of directing Lobo) Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law return to star. This time the duo is joined by the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace.

Check out the first image from Sherlock Holmes 2 featuring Downey, Law and Rapace together:

Sherlock Holmes 2 first image

Guy Ritchie helms a new action-packed adventure, following the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.), and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson (Jude Law), as they match wits with their arch-nemesis, the criminal genius Moriarty (Jared Harris).

I'm so glad to see Rapace has hit the big time after her brilliant turn as Lisbeth Salander in "The Millenium Trilogy" - she's rumored for many other big roles, including Ridley Scott's Alien prequels. But as great as it is to see her doing well in Hollywood, I really don't want to see her settle for starring roles in a string of sequels.

Sherlock Holmes 2 hits theaters on December 16th, 2011.

The Hangover 2

Next up we have the first official image and the synopsis from another highly-anticipated movie - The Hangover 2. The first film was such a (surprise) monster hit, so I don't think anyone will be shocked to hear the filmmakers are churning out another one.

One of the absolute key things that made the first film work was the chemistry between the four main characters - and it's good to see the whole gang is back for more crude shenanigans.

Take a look at the first image from The Hangover 2 featuring Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zack Galifianakis), and Doug (Justin Bartha), followed by the official synopsis which finally reveals why the gang are going to Thailand:

The Hangover 2 first image - Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha

In the follow-up to the record-breaking hit comedy "The Hangover," Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu's wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don't always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can't even be imagined.

The Hangover 2 opens in theaters on May 26th, 2011.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Moving on we have an image from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the much anticipated second part to the final Harry Potter film. If you've been following the promo materials for Deathly Hallows (how could you possibly not be?) then you'll recognize this image which features Lord Voldemort grabbing Harry by the throat.

Take a look at the image below (we've seen the image on its own before but this is the proper version courtesy of WB):

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 new image - Harry and Lord Voldemort

In Part 2 of the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the Wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Nevertheless, the film definitely had a lot of great moments (not to mention the best acting we've seen from the lead trio thus far) and I'm sure Part 2 will deliver the spectacular showdown the franchise has been building to for almost a decade.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hits 3D, IMAX, and regular theaters on July 15th, 2011.

Continue to Sucker Punch, Red Riding Hood, and more...

Sucker Punch new image1

Next we have new images from Zack Snyder's upcoming fantasy-action film Sucker Punch. The movie stars a whole host of beautiful women kicking all sorts of ass (we don't see enough of that in movies!) including Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Carla Gugino. The Sucker Punch trailers so far have all looked pretty awesome.

The first image is a completely new one (see above) while the second one (below) is a high quality version of one we've seen before:

Sucker Punch new image2

Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared. "Sucker Punch" is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls--the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)--to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey--if they succeed--will set them free.

Sucker Punch is scheduled to open in IMAX and regular theaters on March 25th, 2011.

The Rite

Moving forward we have a brand new image from The Rite, the upcoming exorcism film starring Anthony Hopkins, Colin O'Donoghue, Alice Braga, Ciarán Hinds and Rutger Hauer. The first trailer for The Rite didn't impress all that much, but I'm a fan of the cast so I'm willing to give the film the benefit of the doubt.

Take a look at the new image from the movie featuring Hopkins as a priest Father Lucas:

The Rite new trailer
Anthony Hopkins in 'The Rite'

Inspired by true events, "The Rite" follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While he's in Rome, Michael meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith, uncovering the devil's reach even to one of the holiest places on Earth.

The Rite possesses theaters on January 28th, 2011.

Final Destination 5

Next up we have the first couple of images from Final Destination 5, the unnecessary fifth installment in the successful teen horror franchise. Despite the last installment supposedly putting the final stamp on the franchise, they've decided to go ahead with a fifth. Why? Well this is Hollywood - if there is even a slim possibility that a movie can make money, than you can be sure it will get made.

Have a look at the two new images below:

Final Destination 5 new image1
Final Destination 5 new image3

Death makes a killing in the next installment in the horror series which once again proves that no matter where you run, no matter where you hide... you can't cheat death.

Final Destination 5 (previously 5nal Destination) is released in 3D and regular theaters on August 26th, 2011.

-

Red Riding Hood

We have a new image from Red Riding Hood, the upcoming reimagining of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale starring Amanda Seyfried and directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight).

I thought the recent first trailer for the film was very visually impressive, but overall it left me cold - maybe because it just felt like it was trying to copy/emulate Hardwicke's Twilight movie (although you can't really blame WB for trying to capitalize on the popularity of that franchise).

The new image is just taken directly from a (rather risque) shot in the trailer but have a look nonetheless:

Red Riding Hood new image

Valerie (Amanda Seyfried) is a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life.

Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. Panic grips the town as Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast--one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect...and bait.

Red Riding Hood hits theaters on March 11th, 2011.

Hall Pass red band trailer

Hall Pass

Next we have a couple of fresh images from Hall Pass, the new comedy from the Farrelly Brothers. Past favorites such as There's Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber and Kingpin may help to sell this movie to audiences, but if the first trailer is anything to go by this is going to be another disappointing effort from the directing duo, following the likes of The Heartbreak Kid, Shallow Hal and The Perfect Catch.

Check out the new images both above and below featuring Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer:

Hall Pass new image2

Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are best friends who have a lot in common, including the fact that they have each been married for many years. But when the two men begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives (Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate) take a bold approach to revitalizing their marriages: granting them a "hall pass," one week of freedom to do whatever they want...no questions asked. At first, it sounds like a dream come true for Rick and Fred. But it isn't long before they discover that their expectations of the single life--and themselves--are completely, and hilariously, out of sync with reality.

Hall Pass is released on February 25th, 2011.

-

Unknown

Next up we have a couple of new images from Unknown, an upcoming mystery thriller from director Juame Collett-Serra (Orphan) and starring Liam Neeson, Dian Kruger, January Jones and Frank Langella. The first trailer for the film was released last month and despite giving a bit too much away (something which is becoming an annoying trend these days) I thought it looked very intriguing. Having Neeson in the lead role is rarely a bad thing.

Take a look at the two new Unknown images:

Unknown trailer TV spots
Unknown new image2 - Liam Neeson

Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn't recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired and on the run. Aided by an unlikely ally (Diane Kruger), Martin plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he's willing to go to uncover the truth.

Unknown (previously titled Unknown White Male) hits theaters on February 18th, 2011.

Born To Be Wild (IMAX 3D)

Next we have a couple of images from Born to be Wild, an IMAX 3D documentary experience that follows the rescue of endangered orangutans and elephants. It was shot with IMAX 3D cameras so I think we're in for a pretty stunning visual experience. Plus, we have the ever-soothing tones of Morgan Freeman to guide us along the way as narrator :-) .

Check out the two images below:

Born To Be Wild new image1
Born to be Wild new image2

Born to be Wild 3D" is an inspired story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them--saving endangered species one life at a time. Stunningly captured in IMAX 3D, "Born to be Wild 3D" is a heartwarming adventure transporting moviegoers into the lush rainforests of Borneo with world-renowned primatologist Dr. Birute Galdikas, and across the rugged Kenyan savannah with celebrated elephant authority Dame Daphne Sheldrick, as they and their teams rescue, rehabilitate and return these incredible animals back to the wild.

Born to be Wild is unleashed exclusively in IMAX theaters on April 8th, 2011.

Something Borrowed new image1

Something Borrowed

Next we have two new images from Something Borrowed, a romantic comedy starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Krasinski, Colin Egglesfield and Steve Howey. Romantic comedies aren't really my cup of tea and by the sounds of the plot (see below) it doesn't sound like the film will offer anything different than what we've seen a million times before from this genre.

Nevertheless check out the images above and below if you're interested:

Something Borrowed new image2

Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a talented attorney at a top New York law firm, a generous and loyal friend and, unhappily, still single...as her engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) is constantly reminding her. But after one drink too many at her 30th birthday party, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in bed with the guy she's had a crush on since law school, Dex (Colin Egglesfield), who just happens to be Darcy's fiancé.

When Rachel and Darcy's lifelong friendship collides with true love, it leads to unexpected complications and potentially explosive romantic revelations. Meanwhile, Ethan (John Krasinski), who has been Rachel's constant confidante and sometimes conscience, has been harboring a secret of his own, and Marcus (Steve Howey), an irrepressible womanizer, can't keep his mind out of the gutter or his hands off any girl within reach.

Something Borrowed opens on June 10th, 2011.

Horrible Bosses

Second to last is a new brand new image from Horrible Bosses, a star-studded new comedy featuring the likes of Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland and Julie Bowen. That cast alone is enough to get me to see the movie!

Check out the new image below:

Horrible Bosses trailer

For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses (Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston) into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers...permanently. There's only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them.

Horrible Bosses hits theaters on July 29th, 2011.

-

The Apparition

Last up in WB's 2011 preview are two new images from The Apparition, a new supernatural horror/thriller starring Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga), Sebastian Stan and Tom Felton (one his first post-Harry Potter roles). The plot of the film sounds about as generic as these types of film can get but who knows, it could end up being one of the better examples. It'll probably end up being a DVD rent for me.

Here are the two new images for you to check out:

The Apparition new image1
The Apparition new image2

When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force...

The Apparition haunts theaters on September 9th, 2011.

So that's it for WB's January-December 2011 preview! My favorites would have to be the images for Sherlock Holmes 2, The Hangover Part 2 and The Rite. How about you? Leave your thoughts on the images and the movies in general in the comments.
