The Raven

Edgar Allan Poe was a 19th century writer known for his macabre and often dark poems and short stories. The Raven is perhaps his most well known poem but the subject of the poem isn’t the focus behind the upcoming movie. In The Raven John Cusack plays Poe in a “fictionalized account of the last days of his life, in which the poet and Detective Fields (Luke Evans) are in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer’s stories”. Much like Poe’s work, The Raven appears to be dark, moody and will no doubt be suspenseful. However the film turns out, Cusack has certainly nailed the look of Poe.

The speedy little racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), his intrepid sidekick, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) and the rest of the gang from Radiator Springs are back in Cars 2. They head to Japan expecting to race for a big title but instead find themselves caught up in an adventure full of international intrigue and mystery.  In the pictures below, British spy Finn McMissile (Michael Cain) shows Mater and McQueen around Japan and newcomer Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer) takes Mater on a flight across the ocean.

  1. cant wait for deathly hallows

  2. Are they doing the same thing Raimi did with the Spider-man villains in GREEN LANTERN? That new image makes me think so. If so, then Yawn. That’s one thing I got sick of in the Spider-man trilogy.

Anyway, THE THREE MUSKETEERS is looking good. May be entertaining.

    • You gotta be kidding me! The LAST thing we needed was another 3 Musketeers movie. They say it’s “updated”, but yet it still looks like it set 300 years ago. Hollywood needs to stop with 3 Musketeers and Robin Hood remakes, reboots, whatever.

  3. Ok, I am starting to warm up to the GL movie.

Mark Strong looks AWESOME. The detail on the CGI looks a LOT better than what they were distributing before.

    There’s hope yet!

  4. I absolutely loved the first Cars movie, but ever since I found that the sequel will have absolutely nothing to do with the first, I’m starting to think it’s gonna be like Shrek the Third. Anyways, I’m super excited for Deathly Hallows.

  5. Wow Musketeers looks pretty good!

Scream 4 on the other hand…the scene with a killer’s hand jammed in a door just doesn’t exactly scream (hehe) originality.

Something about Jim Carrey and Penguins together makes me smile.

  6. Wow… you guys have a serious beef with Green Lantern’s CG costume. You state that they’ve caught a “lot of flack” for it. Sure, from this website. Every other site seems pretty neutral/positive on it. Have some faith. The movie looks great.

    • Really? “every other site”? I don’t think so bud. The costume has ppl split down the middle. I personally think it looks downright silly.

    • @Andy – No beef here just serious reservations. Look at the suit Sinestro has on then compare it to Hal Jordan’s suit. Sinestro’s is easily 10x’s better. If Jordan’s suit wasn’t complete yet and the studio decided to release it anyway then that’s on them.

    • I really like the suit.

      • Me too LM..

    • Really Andy?

      Go over to :

Show me how it’s mostly positive. In fact I would say all three of those have shown more hate toward it than this site is. There are at least people defending it here. Over on those sites not so much. It’s gotten so bad at IGN they even IGN writers are negative on it and those guys will say what ever you want them to for a dollar.

  7. GL looks great! Rubbing my hands in anticipation.

  8. Something about seeing the 3 Musketeers pics makes me really excited about the movie… idk what it is. I really have faith in the movie… i really do. Not too sure why, i mean the director is definitely not the best and the story has been remade time after time after time again… but we will see.

  9. Sure why not. At least the 3 Musketeers has been redone consistently over the years. Not sure what ‘updating’ the story means though…… don’t know how you can make a 17th century political intrigue story any more fresh than the other 10+ previous attempts.

Would be fun of Michael York was in there somewhere. Of course he will always be D’Artagnan to me :) (and Logan from Logan’s Run)

    • I think ‘update’ is just a subliminal way of saying ’3D’. :) Also, with Milla Jovovich involved I imagine the fight scenes will dominate the story.

  10. REALLY looking forward to The Raven. :)

  11. The Raven looks fantastic. I’m so looking forward to it.

Gotta disagree with you on the GL picks

Tomar-Re look pretty good but Sinestro IMO looks just as bad as Hal does maybe just a tiny bit better but not by much.

  12. Sinestro looks great. I hope that GL looks that great with the finished product.

Looper sounds like it can be interesting.

  13. So, maybe the shots of Hal in costume in the trailer weren’t finished after all, maybe the suit effects are fine and everyone has been worrying over nothing.

  14. huge Poe fan here, i find the idea of “the raven” interesting but silly to say the least.
whats next? a movie where Emily Dickinson teams up with a detective to stop a rash of tea cozy thefts?

    • Ehh, actually. Pride, Prejudice and Zombies, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, are being made and I for one can’t wait.

  15. Ray Stevenson looks awesome in 3M.

Too much CGI in the GL, why not just make it a cartoon? :(

    ~Thanks for the article~

  16. After seeing all the images from the new X-Men flick, the new Spiderman flick, the Captain America flick… honestly, the only one I’m looking forward to now is Green Lantern.
I seriously hate the costumes on the former three. I can live with a CG suit for the latter.

    • I agree. The suit will look fine in the actual movie. The shots of Sinestro’s look totally different to what we saw on the trailer for Hal, the effects obviously werent quite finished.

  17. Sinestro = Awesome. As usual the villians save the day…for movie/comic fans
