Motorola has confirmed that its upcoming Moto Edge X30 smartphone will rock some impressive hardware that includes a massive 60-megapixel selfie camera and a battery that supports 68W fast charging. The phone in question is expected to officially launch later this month, but the company has been drip-feeding its key specifications via social media ahead of its debut.

Just a few days ago, the company revealed that Moto Edge X30 will come equipped with a flat OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and readiness to play HDR10+ content. A live image of the phone shared by Motorola shows a centrally-aligned hole-punch cutout and uniformly thick bezels at the top and bottom. The flat panel looks clean, but it is nowhere near as attention-grabbing as the first-gen Motorola Edge with its curved screen.

Taking to its official Weibo social media handle, Motorola has revealed that the Moto Edge X30 will come equipped with a 60-megapixel front camera, making it one of the most capable selfie phones out there. It is quite likely that the camera will perform 4-in-1 pixel-binning to deliver brighter, but smaller 15-megapixel selfies. Samsung’s camera-centric Galaxy S21 Ultra features a 40-megapixel front snapper, the Pixel 6 Pro rocks an 11.1-megapixel selfie shooter, while the iPhone 13 Pro offers a rather modest 12-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. The only other phone from a mainstream brand with a more powerful selfie camera is the Asus ZenFone 8 Flip that comes armed with a flipping module to allow the 64-megapixel rear camera to double as the selfie shooter.

A Solid Flagship In The Making

Motorola Edge 30 Teasers

Motorola’s official teasers have also revealed the phone’s triple camera array at the back will include two 50-megapixel sensors. The third rear snapper is there for collecting depth information and relies on a 2-megapixel sensor. Motorola has, however, more information than just camera details. The Edge X30 has been confirmed to offer a 5,00 mAh capacity battery that supports an impressive 68W fast charging, although there is no word on wireless charging support. Motorola recently showcased an impressive contactless over-the-air wireless charging tech capable of juicing up a phone from a distance of ten feet.

The company has already confirmed that the Moto Edge X30 will be among the first phones to come equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The device is expected to launch on December 9 in China, and will become available to buy starting December 15. Given the regional availability of its predecessor, the phone will likely hit US and European markets in the coming months. In addition to the Moto Edge X30, Motorola is reportedly working on another phone called the Moto G200 that will be the first to pack a 200-megapixel rear camera.
