Mockingjay Part 1 Adds Cast Members Hunger Games: Mockingjay Voted Fans Most Anticipated Movie of 2014

2014 will bring with it the usual crowd of theatrical releases, but some are definitely more anticipated than others. We already listed Screen Rant’s Most Anticipated Movies of 2014, but we can’t speak for everybody, and so sometimes a wider polling of the general public is the best way to know what the general consensus is on films.

Fandango conducted just such a poll, and the results were a little surprising (for us at least). It appears that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is the most anticipated movie of 2014 – and no matter how you feel about that, you’ll probably find the list overall worth a look.

WORTH DISCUSSING

  • Being pregnant throughout the production of X-Men: Days of Future Past didn’t stop Halle Berry from making the sexiest woman list.
  • Ryan Gosling’s looks may be the only reason you ever see this next Terrence Malick film topping any list.
  • That Kate Upton pic is actually from the movie she’s in (and just wow….)
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier didn’t even make the top 5 – but Divergent did.
  • The average Fandango user is definitely not a hardcore fanboy or fangirl – but definitely a fan of YA fiction.
  •  From the looks of things, How to Train Your Dragon 2 is poised to make serious bank.

  1. Holy crap! That Kate Upton pic! :)

    • good

  2. Those lists mean nothing, but I agree on the Upton pic ;)

I have my list; and agree with most of Screenrants. More excited for CAP2/GOTG than anything!

    • I agree on the Marvel movies. Granted I’m a huge “fanboy” for the MCU right now. DOFP is up there as well.

      • Ahh, yes. DOFP. Most of mine do include MCU movies, but I’d add Interstellar as well :)

  3. How the hell is Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past on there but not Guardians of the Galaxy? I’m looking forward to all superhero flicks but come on, clearly Guardians of the Galaxy is the most anticipated, at least it being something different and not more of the same thing.

    • Not much has happened marketing-wise for GotG. A picture and leaked 30 sec teaser. People can’t vote for something the haven’t seen anything on.

I’m pumped for Guardians but the poll makes sense.

    • Outside of Screenrant, I have never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy. And that includes CBM and CB fans.

      • That’s weird cause both those sites constantly run stories on it.

  4. What a bunch of tards, how could they not vote for guardians of the galaxy?

    • RAWL! No Cap America or Guardians! FANDANGO IS DC BIAS!!!!

      • Wat is guardians of the galaxy about?

  5. GOTG
    Cap

  6. A little less cowbell and a lot more Kate Upton pics, please….

  7. GODZILLA!!!!!

  8. Looks like the top 2 CBMs next year will be Xmen and Spiderman..

  9. Well, I’m most definitely not in the target demographic for the next Hunger Games film, but I have to admit to it being one of my “anticipated films” for 2014, right behind Godzilla and Captain America.

And I am also VERY much excited about the Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending.

To those complaining that Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t anywhere on this list, well that COULD be because there’s been absolutely zero advertising for the film. Anywhere. None.

I’m lukewarm on the next Spiderman film. I didn’t dislike the first one of the new franchise, but it didn’t particularly enthrall me.

I AM looking forward to Planet of the Apes.

  10. Godzilla and Dawn of Planet of the Apes are my two most anticipated

  11. I think I’m probably looking most forward to Interstellar.

And I’m more curious about Guardians of the Galaxy than I am excited about it. Rocket Racoon is either gonna be incredibly awesome or incredibly stupid. Easily Marvel’s biggest risk so far. The Captain America trailer looks really good as well.

And Marvel REALLY blew their wad with X-Men Future/Past, for me at least…by running all of the Apacholypse noise out there this early. We’ve barely seen a lead up to Future/Past and I’m already kinda looking past it in anticipation of En Sabba Nur. If they would have just let the end credit scene in Future/Past be the intro for Apacholypse it would have been epic.

    • Right on.

      1. Interstellar

      2. X Men Days Of Future Past

      3. Captain America 2

    • “And Marvel REALLY blew their wad with X-Men Future/Past, for me at least…by running all of the Apacholypse noise out there this early. Dude, not Marvel, FOX and what do you expect from the worst movie studio around?

      • When you talk about Avengers, Iron Man, etc you say Disney not Marvel right?

      • Yeah, Whichever studio is in charge of that whole thing. When I said ‘Marvel’ it wss just me drawing a distinction between the two only really relevant ‘comic book’ franchises in the film business…that being Marvel and DC.

  12. Cap, GOTG, Spiderman, Hobbit, X Men.

2015 is the year we are all waiting for.

Avengers, Bat vs Superman, Bond, Star Wars, FF7, Bourne, Ted 2, Ant Man, Assassins Creed, Kung Fu Panda 3, MI 5, Terminator, Fantastic 4,

  13. This was obviously conducted at a local High School, probably in Colorado, yesterday.

  14. I disagree with the picks but I’m not the kind of person to view Fandango’s website either (until now, I’d never heard of it).

  15. People need to relize that guardians is unkown to the general public, and marvel has done nothing to build it up via end credit scenes. It will most likely be marvels poorest performing film, unless the trailers draw a lot of interest from the general public. Spiderman 2 will most likely win this year in the box office. Or xmen.

  16. The Raid 2, TYG2, The Expendables 3 and hopefully Kung Fury. CB movies are getting boring. We should switch to a new “in” thing. I might check Cap2 because it looks like a Bond movie.

  17. Judging from the previous comments, the results of this poll were extremely disconcerting to the comic book fanboys who frequent this site. There is no need for your ego to be hurt. All of these movies, as well as those that you relish, will likely do well at the box office.

  18. DOFP has to be number one. Fan of Hunger Games series and Marvel, but DOFP has too much star power to not be number 1.

  19. Alot of film to look forward too This year but my list in order would have too look like this
1 Godzilla, just the most obvious choice
2 the hobbit 3, the second was phenomenal
3 dawn of the planet of the apes
    4 the amazing Spiderman 2
    5 guardians of the galaxy
    6 teenage mutant ninja turtles
    7 Robocop
8 x men days of future past
    9 transformers 4
    10 captain America 2
Others I’m excited for outside my top 10
    Hunger games 3
    Noah
    Pompeii
    I,frankenstein
    Interstellar
    Transcendence
    Sabotage
    Hercules
    Non stop
    Lone survivor
    Inbetweeners 2

And hopefully a couple of decent horror movies.

  20. When are the rest of my fellow nerds gonna get it?

No non-nerds give a flying f*** about GotG. Not one single f***.

Now if when it comes out, it is awesome and blows people’s minds, the expectations will change for the eventual sequel. But if you can’t understand why more people are not excited for GotG then you really need to get out more and mingle with some non-comic book crowds.

The film I am surprised to not see on this list is Captain America. He is at least established in the minds of the average movie goer.

  21. For me:

    1. Batman vs Superman

What? that is still a year and a half away? Ok…

    1. Star Wars

What? that’s still almost TWO years away? Fine…

    1. Godzilla
    2. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
    3. X-Men Days of Future Past
    4. Interstellar
    5. The Hobbit: There and Back Again
    6. Transcendence
    7. Gone Girl
    8. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
    9. Guardians of the Galaxy
    10. 300: Rise of an Empire, Captain America: Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Transformers 4, Noah, Divergent, Robocop,

  22. hobbit? seriously? I for one, does not care about this movie.

    Hunger game movie.. Anytime.
    Godzilla definitely.
X-Men.. oh man.. so far don’t love the trailer but i am there. Still waiting for some crazy special effect.

Interstellar.. it’s .. Nolan.. w/ Imax.. I am there regardless of what was shown in teaser.

Surprising winner of the trailer so far is Amazing Spiderman 2 and Edge of tomorrow…
    Transformers 4.. All depends…

  23. Kate surprised me with her role in The Other Woman. Good for her!
