‘Mortal Kombat: Legacy II’ – Full Season is Now Online!

Published 2 years ago by

The wait is over: Director Kevin Tancharoen is back with the second season of his acclaimed web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy!

As we saw in the trailers for Mortal Kombat: Legacy II, this new installment will follow characters like Liu Kang (Brian Tee) and Kung Lao (Mark Dacascos) - both of whom appear in this premiere – as they and others join  Raiden (David Lee McInnis taking over the role) to battle  forces from the dark realm of Outworld, led by evil sorcerer Shang Tsung (original Mortal Kombat movie star, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa).

This first episode is only a tease, really, but it nonetheless evidences several important things that will carry over into the rest of the season:

  1. The production values are definitely improved, with much of the series having an almost soap-opera look to them, with some creative visual flare.
  2. The action direction is also much improved, with episode 1 showcasing some pretty bone-crunching martial arts choreography.
  3. There is a much more serialized storyline happening this time around, which should do well to keep viewers invested (as opposed to the pick and choose character story format of season 1.

The other good thing about Mortal Kombat: Legacy II is that Tancharoen and Co. have wisely decided to tale a cue from Netflix and release the entire season online simultaneously, instead of trying for an episode-of-the-week format. You can get your binge-view on by clicking the Image below.

For Mortal Kombat fans, Legacy II looks to be an even more polished and fully-realized version of the game mythos. There are still a few rough edges noticeable in the seasonal preview included at the end of episode 1 (Kitana and Mileena, looking at you two) – but overall, this series is good enough to provide future incentive for studios to allow enterprising directors to adapt their IPs into inspired Web series or short films.

Tancharoen is so enthused about the possibilities, he’s already talking about making a Power Rangers fan-film after this…

  1. Cool. I just got into this. I really enjoyed the first season.

  2. It’s missing episodes on YouTube. Unless I’m missing something.

    • Did you go to the playlist link?

      • Yea. It has 1-3, 5, 7, 9 and then the finale. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong lol

  3. soon cable tv will become a thing of the past.

    • I’m surprised you guys still have cable over there.

We ditched cable TV and moved into digital TV back in 2002.

  4. The first episode was pretty good. A lot more improved than the first season. My only concern is that I’ll have to watch Ermac as a zombie…

  5. Just finished it and it was great. Definately better than the first season. And I LOVED the first season. I just wish this season would have been a little longer.

    • I just wish it didn’t end with cliffhanger. The whole season was building towards that the final confrontation and we get to be continued We don’t even know when season 3 will come.

  6. Yeah I just finished it as well and I thought it was pretty epic. Loved the twist at the end of scorpion and sub zero’s fight. Although Johnny Cage is my favorite character and this didn’t really help his case haha.

  7. Just finished the season It was a good season I hate the ending. That cliffhanger was cheap

  8. I didnt like it. They spent so much time on back story and recapping season 1 they hardly even tapped into the tournament it’s self. When they did progressed threw the tournament it was mostly filler shots of land scapes. I hope in season 3 they leave all this back story behind. At this point the only back story I care about is how Raiden turned from white to asian between both seasons. Other then that just freaking focus on the tournament.

  9. I liked the time between Ep. in season 1 better than how this one was done, but it was pretty cool. I liked season 1′s Raiden way better than this season but other than those little things…

  10. Liked this better than the first season. However, I don’t know if I’m intrigued enough to really hang on and wait a year for a third season. Just make the movie.

  11. Unfortunately….. this season was not worth the wait…. very disappointing. every episode was a tease and nothing more…..

  12. So I watched them all in one sitting like I did with Arrest Development on Netflix. My final thought was not as good as the first season. The ‘ Previously on, and Next time on,’ took up about three minutes of story time that could have made each espiode better. I had high hopes, better acting and I was just starting to like Stryker and Johnny Cage before the cliffhanger. Really another Legacy coming when, please just get on with the final tournament already.

  13. I am seriously disappointed in the second season. They focused way too much on the origins of kitana and loosens (when we saw this already in the first season) and then kitana suddenly decides to make up her mind about the daddy issues in the middle of a fight? After her sister attacked Johnny cage for no apparent reason? And they had no backstory for Stryker whatsoever. I feel they spent too much time on weak fillers and not enough time on actual story progression. And where the hell was Shang Tsung while the “tournament” was going on? What are the parameters of the tournament? Randomly get into fights with strangers? We know why Scorpion and Sub Zero are fighting, and why Kenshi is fighting Ermac ( who they completely messed up), but what about johnny cage and Stryker?

I was happy, however, with the treatment of Liu Kang. What a twist. I hope they focus more on current events and the organization of the tournament in season three.

    • “Loosens” was another horrible autocorrect mishap when I meant ‘Mileena’.
