IGN.com gleaned a few details about what’s happening with the next Terminator sequel in a conversation with James Middleton, a producer on the upcoming TV show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Most of it is the same as the last bit of news that came out last May, but there are a few new details.
- They’re still going to have the screenplay written by two of the writers of Terminator 3 as was reported back in May.
- Despite some legal wrangling that took place, The Halcyon Company, which now owns the franchise is still set to produce the film.
- They want to start pre-production in October and shoot for a 2009 release.

- There is no director attached to the project yet.
- The movie will not be called Terminator 4, but will have a title: subtitle format like the previous film (Terminator: Rise of the Machines)
- There’s no lock on Nick Stahl and Claire Danes returning from the previous film. Depends on a number of factors.
- Although Stahl played the critical role of John Connor, that character will not be the focus of the new film. It sounds like the new hero will look to Connor as a mentor or role model.
- They’re still planning on making this a new trilogy, but of course that depends on how well the first movie does.
There’s certainly lots of story potential here… it would be interesting (but depressing, I’m sure) to see the events that transpire between when the Skynet computer system gained self-awareness and when John Connor sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect his mother.
I’m curious to see how this develops.

Would I be correct in assuming that Arnold would not be in the movie? Or is this a well known fact and I have just been living under a rock?
LOL, no, you’re not under a rock. There were rumors of a CGI Ahnuld cameo but it turned out to be bogus.

the terminator movies were prity good, now all they have to do is make a forth one about the future war how humans adapt to it and how they send the robots into the past.then make another one and call it terminator the final battle where the terminators loose or win hwo knows.If they do that it would be prity cool and we whon’t have argue whith each other hwo is going to play the next terminator arnold (i can’t spell his last name it’s too damn hard) batista. ps i don’t suggest that batista should play as the terminator but hi’s thje first muscle bound that came in my mind.

Good point, I hadn’t thought about part of the upcoming trilogy covering mankind’s triumph over the Terminators.

I am a huge fan of all of the terminator films. I don’t care how bad the third one did in theaters, I still loved it. Who cares if it sucked. I’m 22, so I’ve been watching the progression of these movies since I was in diapers. When I saw the 1st movie when I was a small child, I thought, “This is cool, but when do we get to see the man who sends his father back in time to protect and impregnate his mother.” When I saw the sassy little kid who played John Connor in the second film, I thought, “Wow, John Connor is going to be bad ass.” When I saw the third film, it definitely didn’t hold a candle to the 1st 2 but it was good to see how the beloved hero took on the challenge of leading the new world against machines. Now I find out Christian Bale *bows in worship* is playing John Connor, but he is not the central character, I’m pissed. I didn’t wait 20 some years to see some nobody Marcus become a hero. I have been waiting so long to see John Connor after the apocalypse. I’m so disappointed.

I personally want to see the rest of John Connor’s story, Not some guy named marcus, who no one has heard of.
