Earlier this week we got our first look at what some members of the Green Lantern Corps may look like for the upcoming Martin Campbell-directed DC/Warner Bros. film through some very well done Green Lantern concept art. These images featured some of the alien characters that Hal Jordan (Green Lantern/Ryan Reynolds) meets on his journey of becoming a superhero.

Since then, some more concept images of the same style have popped up for two more characters – one of which is for Sinestro, one of the most important characters in the Green Lantern series. In addition to the Sinestro concept art, there is also an image of the Guardians.

The header image above depicts the the short blue-skinned white-haired Guardians of the Universe. For those who don’t know, these fellas are the founders and leaders of the Green Lantern Corps.

And now, for the first possible look at Sinestro – Click to enlarge:

These images of the Guardians and Sinestro, as well as the previous images of Kilowog, Tomar-Re and Abin Sur may not be what the characters end up looking like on screen. These are confirmed as official concept art but there could be plenty of other designs or changes made when bringing the characters to life.

I do like what I’ve see from these images and I’m excited to see the final product… and Reynolds’ costume.

What do you think of this version of Sinestro? Can you picture Mark Strong looking similar to that?

Green Lantern and is scheduled to open June 17, 2011.

  1. Whoa ! is Sinestro Rock'in a Mullet ????
lets hope the film is mullet-less.
other than the mullet all of the concept art has been pretty sweet.

  2. hahaha i cant picture mark with a mullet HAHAHAHAHA
but yeah i do hope that not the final look, doubt it will be anyways concept art is usually a guideline for designers

  3. I really hope Sinestro's final look doesn't include that ridiculous hair because he is totally reminding me of John Travolta in Battlefield Earth. That's bad, very bad!

  4. if u look close, that kinda looks like hugo weaving in the wolfman! without the whole suite. well i think so atleast! tho cool design, the hair looks kinda.. stupid really:p im sure the finished product will be more awesome!:)

  5. Except from the goddamned mullet he would look great. The suit was a little bit wrong too but at least the suit was in a “righter” direction than the hair. This is though concept art and I am sure they are going to make the right decision as they must have hundreds of these.

  6. Kinda looks like Ming the Merciless. :P

  7. That Sinestro is horrific, and not the good kind of horrific. The guardian looks good though.

I hate the black and grren. They really need the white gloves. I know they want to be “fresh” and “hip”, but that garbage that Sinestro is wearing in the photo looks like it was done by the guy who created Halle Berrys Catwoman suit.

  8. At least the concepts look somewhat like the original comics, albeit meaner… upgraded a bit. Everything in this movie depends on the CG, I just hope it's not crappy like I am Legend, or twilight or transformers, like that fast jerky movement that can't be followed.

We need epic panoramics of space battles with the corps, I hope the CG is up to par and with Avatar, the bar is set pretty high.

  9. Just saw Edge of Darkness. Great film. Based on Campbell's films I'm thinking Green Lantern is going to be an intergalactic cops n' robbers film with a lot of complex twisting plots.

As to the artwork… yeah lose the mullet. They have Sinestro looking Arabesque. The Guardians look great although slightly Yoda-ish.

  10. Probably one of the coolest superheroes every made!

  11. I can totally picture Mark Strong as Sinestro, the thought that Jackie Earl Haley was going to be in that part seems so completely laughable now!

Is this concept art genuine? It is a lot of information to come out this early into the production.

    But looking cool so far.

  12. I'm a big fan of GL (Green Lantern) and have been waiting for years to see GL get his shot at the big screen and while excited to see Ryan Renolds as the lead (one of the best actors today in my opinion) I have to say that this concept for Sinestro doesn't work.

its not that the character doesn;t look great or that the cistumne isn't awesome but that in the DC universe, even thouh characters change and evolve over time, this version of Sinestro looks too much like a Gneral Zod then a SInestro. Maybe its just me.

I don't care for the Guardians art either. I know movies often deviate from their comic books established characters & story but whatever they come up with for the Guardians they really need to be small. CGI is great but there are some quality littel people actors out there who would do a fantastic job as a Guardian. Peter Dinklage (played the ball busting childrens author in the movie ELF) would be a great candiadte for a Guardian as would Danny Woodburn (played Big Man in the WATCHMEN) and even Tony Cox(Bad Santa). In fact all 3 of those guys together could provide the 3 main Guardians and man that would be a great combination.

The only thing that could have come close to topping that is if David Rappaport were still alive as he would make a great 4th Guardian. And to top them all would be the famous Michael Dunn who potrayed Loveless in the popular TV Series the WIld Wild West. I know if he were alive he might be too old to pplay this part but if we could go back in time and get him from his Wild Wild West days he would be the spitting image of the typically portrayed Guardian.
