It is a lot of hype. No doubt. However, it’s James Cameron. If it was someone else – spielberg, ridley scott, tim burton – I would have serious doubts. Cameron has a vision like no other director out there. He’s the man when it comes to big budget movies. He makes films that happen to have a costly vision, as opposed to seeking projects because they’re big. If anyone can do it, he can. Think about all the years he’s been a professional filmmaker – roughly thirty. And how many films has he made in that time? This is only his eighth project. He puts all his energy into it. What’s more, he turns down projects like T3 when he feels he doesn’t have a vision for it. His work ethic goes unmatched among big budget directors.

cat, keep in mind that a previous article citing a budget of $300 million is incorrect. It was $200 million. Still a lot, but it’s a difference of $100 million, so it makes a difference. I’m pretty sure the movie will at least turn a profit if nothing else, but the hype behind it should prove more profitable than simply just that. It might even have a significant impact on the movie making industry as a whole, who knows.

As I said, the film will … well … most definitely be awesome, but still …
this ridiculous hype is going nowhere fast, piling up anticipation…

Maybe the first trailer will completely change my mind … who knows?

Woot, a theater right by my house has digital 3D. Funny thing is, the “bigger” theater close to it shows 3D movies using regular projectors. Not the same as with digital.

Empty hype.

For YEARS now.

This film will disappoint, no doubt about it.
It’s like waiting for Christmas Eve … for 3 or more years.

Either you loose interest or your expectation grows beyond any limits.

I have no doubt that the film WILL in fact be amazing, but this hype is worse than Cloverfield.
