sam rockwell moon Moon Trailer & Clips

One of the hits at the Sundance film festival was a little sci-fi flick starring Sam Rockwell called Moon. Unfortunately I didn’t see it, and based on the trailer and few clips we have for you below, I’m sorry I missed it.

Check them out after the jump.

Head over to IGN.com for an HD version of the trailer.

And here are five clips from the film:

Based on this the film looks like a cross between the working man, creepy vibe of Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of IMDB.com:

Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He’s been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth’s energy crisis.

Isolated, determined and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and work on his raging temper. He does his job mechanically, and spends most of his available time dreaming of his imminent return to Earth, to his wife, young daughter and an early retirement.

But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar.

Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It’s more than his contract that is set to expire.

Very interesting looking and I’ll definitely be checking this one out this summer.

Moon opens on June 12th, 2009.

  1. WOW! That looks really good, I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before. I’ll definately be keeping an eye out for that in June.

  2. I hope they didn’t just reveal WAY too much about the ending of this film in that synopsis…

  3. Dude,
it Looks So Freak’in Cool !

and i immediately thought of H.A.L

Definately Look’in fwrd 4 this Film.

  4. Could be suspenseful or predictable. I hope it isn’t about the wicked corporation (like the Umbrella Corp.) creating clones that die off about 3 years. I have not read or seen anything it just may be this predictable. I hope not.

  5. Saw the trailer, didn’t ned to see the clips or read what it’s about.

    I. Am. Going. To. See. This. Movie.

There’s a reason I love Sam Rockwell and it’s this.

  6. I really like to see Sam Rockwell playing, he has a great vibe.
The clip reminds me of Alien and Sphere, two films I really liked, so I am looking forward to Moon

  7. I think, too, that the synopsis gave away too much. Anyone else thinks he’s some type of clone, like in The Island?

  8. This film, after seeing the clips, reminds me of Silent Running. Sam Rockwell looks like he can make Moon work and it could be one of the few films to draw me back to the cinema.

  9. Wow this thing looks fantastic! I first heard about this a few months back in Empire magazine, however since then it had kind of dropped off my radar (since we haven’t heard much about it until now).

Sam Rockwell is such a brilliant actor (if you haven’t seen The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford… Rockwell is fantastic in it), and it looks like he’s been given an entire movie to prove just how good he can be.

    Can’t wait for this one.

  10. Awesome!! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for this one :)

  11. Looks fantastic. I just hope like Ken F said, its not predictable and throws a curve ball somewhere.

  12. Color me intrigued.

  13. I think this is a rental. Feels like it’s been done before, with a definite bit of “2001″ in there. Not going to spend $9 in the theater, but will definitely hit the home theater one day.
