This week:
Affleck goes to Arizona, Warner Bros, figure out Beetle The Bard; The Wolfman howls at a different time; Keanu Reeves has 47 Ronin and own a piece of Hollywood – cheap!

1. One time “Jack Ryan” and former tabloid fodder Ben Affleck is getting behind the camera once more following the stellar Gone Baby Gone.
Affleck will helm Arizona, the film details the death of an investigative reporter who died whilst covering the mob.
I’m damn happy that Affleck is regaining some of “the cred” that he lost during the JLO years. I think that he’s one of the last great leading men (in the traditional sense) and a growing filmmaker!

2. Love Harry Potter? Well I don’t, but if you do then you should be interested to know that Warner Bros. is very keen to figure out how the hell to turn J.K Rowling’s Beetle The Bard into a movie, or a series of movies.
The problem is that the studio has no idea how to develop these fairy tales into a feature (or features).
Answers please to Screen Rant (we will share the profits 50/50).
3. If, like me you are looking forward to The Wolfman then prepare to be disappointed. The horror remake has been moved again on he Universal release schedule. The Benicio Del Torro film will now open on November 6 rather than in April 2009.
Probably to get the Halloween audience. Besides – who would open a horror movie in the spring. It’s kinda like opening Halloween in August. Do you here that Dimension?!

4. The Day The Earth Fell Asleep …erm I mean Stood Still star Keanu Reeves has signed on to 47 Ronin. According to Variety the film is:
“an epic period film for Universal Pictures based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan.”
Wanted co-writer Chris Morgan is penning the script. I’m sure that there’s going to be enough Matrix homage/rip-off to make this worthwhile. Maybe.

I’m interested in The Wolfman and I have been interested in that character since I was a boy..especially the old Universal movies.
I think Affleck is under rated and his career is just now recovering from the whole Bennifer fiasco…Direct films for awhile and then return to the screen in ating roles. I think he has great leading man potential and is somewhat underrated as an actor..
HAven’t seen the last three Potter films released just the first two and although I thought they were good movies they haven’t had much in the way of replay value for me. I have the last three films on DVD but I haven’t even opened them yet and I have had them for quite some time…I know I should watch them but I need to find my motivation.NOt sure about the new Rowling book(s) but will it be the cash-cow that Potter is?
Geez is it just me or Keanu Reeves attached to everything right now..I think he gats a bit of a bad wrap..but to each their own…

Nowhere in the post above was Keanu “bashed” so I don’t know what the heck you’re talking about.

Glad to hear Affleck is directing another film.
I believe 47 Ronin was a book,
I will have to look that up but it sounds familiar though .
47 Ronin is a remake of a japanese film ,
Chushingura.
I guess i should say in my research I found out about a similar story told on film about the same event.
I dont know if 47 ronin is a direct remake of chushingura.
But they appear to be about the same story so, it is possible .
Myabe Keanu is a good actor, maybe he is not, but let me ask you this question have you ever seen Keanu show any bit of emotion in any charactor he has played? I don’t think i have ever seen him smile onscreen.
Moving on, I have NEVER liked Ben Affleck, I personally don’t think he is htat great an actor, He plays the samething over and over again, he is not diverse enough for me. He should stick with the two things that have earned him Oscar Credentials and that is Directing and Writing (Gone Baby Gone and Good Will Hunting). Plus, albeit not entirely his fault, he ruined Daredevil.
As for Ms Rowling, I believe her to be a one trick pony. A talented writer,but in order to win me over, you need to do more than Fantasy and Wizardry.
