television p TV 2009 Mid Season Channel LineupWith the Winter slumber upon the networks, we have to wait until January of 2009 to see new episodes of our favorite shows and what not.  With Screen Rant connoisseurs in mind, I was wondering just what might be coming up out there that would be remotely interesting to us.

Mostly, shows already in progress.

Some are running out their initial series and drifting off into the ethers once again.  Others are plugging on.

There’s an occasional new show being inserted into the mix.  I probably missed a few here and there, but I like I said, I’m focused on what we might be watching.

On ABC,
Wednesday, January 14
Lost (Repeat of previous season finale)

Wednesday, January 21 is dedicated to Lost
Starting at 8 PM
Lost Clip Show
Lost (Because We Left)
Lost (The Lie)

Wednesday, January 28
Lost
Life on Mars

Monday, March 09
Castle (Series Premiere)
Castle is about a horror novelist that consults with the NYPD.  Eh, I don’t know… thougt I’d toss that in there.

Fridays and Sundays will remain unchanged.

On CBS,
Friday, January 9th:
Ghost Whisperer
Numb3rs

Thursday, Feb. 12
CSI
Eleventh Hour

Sunday, Feb. 15
Daytona 500, 2 PM Eastern*
Cold Case
The Unit
* I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t mention the great American race.  This is what Vic has to put up with me in the mix!

Thursday, April 9
CSI
(I don’t know why every list I have found says CSI twice.  Feb 12th and April 9th.)

On NBC,
Monday, January 5
Chuck and Heroes return in February.

Tuesday, January 6
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

Wednesday, January 7
Knight Rider (Closing out it’s run.)
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit encores
Life returns in February.
Law & Order

Thursday, January 8
My Name Is Earl
ER

Friday, January 16
Friday Night Lights – NOT a TYPO!
Friday Night Lights is kicking in their new season.  Via a shared financial arrangement, DirecTV gets first run of the show, then they let NBC air the new episode.  I’m glad it’s back.  I hope this works out for the show.  Jeeze, it’s been so long I forgot what was happening on the show.

Saturday, January 10
Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit encores

Don’t forget:
Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 6:15 PM

The CW
Thursday, January 15
Smallville
Supernatural

Tuesday, March 17
Reaper (Yep, that is not a typo.  Reaper returns to The CW)

Of course, I have to toss in that Battlestar Galactica finishes out it’s run on The Sci-Fi Channel, starting January 16th.

  1. I thought Lost was going back to thursdays at 10

  2. Gary,

Private Practice moved to Thursdays beginning Jan 9th. Life on Mars moved to Wednesdays, following Lost.

  3. Fox:
24 returns Sunday Jan 11th. Moves to Mon on the 12th.
Bones moves to Thursday @ 8:00 in Jan
Terminator moves to Fridays @ 8:00 in Feb
    Dollhouse premieres Feb 13th @ 9:00 (fri)

  4. Maybe I’m living in a cave, but most of these shows I have never watched a single episode! The rest I lost interest in after season or so.

I guess thats what happens when the second half of your childhood is spent without a T.V.

  5. Castle stars Nathan Filion for fans of the man.

  6. What about Scrubs ? Any news on their start date?

  7. Daniel F:
I’ve seen multiple reports on the show, but from my best guess / source (TV Guide) was reporting a start date for ABC’s SCRUBS of Tuesday, January 6th at 9 PM.

    CanuckLou:
THANK YOU. I had seen the news on Nathan Fillion in CASTLE, and it totally slipped my keyboard while I was typing. Dang those IR boards.

    Typhoon:
Thanks… We’ve covered 24, Terminator and Dollhouse so often, that my “I wrote about this before” mental filter scrubbed it from my article, but I should have included them. And thanks for the BONES update.

    For you “THE UNIT” fans:
There will be an upcoming episode that focuses on Robert Patrick’s character Tom, from his younger days, giving him more of a history for us to appreciate. They also have a new character coming on board. A “maverick” named of Zach, but who goes by the name of Sam. yea, head scratcher, but it is THE UNIT!! One of my faves!

OK, that’s it for now. Gotta run!
(See, it pays to check the comments gang!!)

  8. Try this again (this post apparently didn’t take last night).

    According to IMDB:

Jamie Bamber is joining Law&Order:London. Fans of BSG will find that interesting. Personally, I skip Law&Order and all of it’s spinoffs.

Knight Rider is likely done after 17 episodes.

Also (strong rumor) ABC is likely going to pick up Fox’s King of the Hill. Fans of that show might get a reprieve.

  9. Did anyone catch “Leverage” on TNT last night? It was a pretty sweet series premiere. I cant wait to see where the show goes. It’s like Oceans 11 meets the A Team.

  10. @ash ali

I saw Leverage last night too. I thought that was really good and I gotta say even though she is crazy, Parker is one of my favorite characters so far!

We got a new episode Tue. too at 10.

  11. With the exception of “24″,network tv shows really suck these days…

I don’t get how some of these shows last so long…

I don’t watch network tv shows at all anymore. Its all movie dvds and some cable show tv series that’s about it…

    Scrubs, Lost, ghost whisperer,,, =crap!
5 min of Dexter or BSG has more writing talent then all 3 of those shows…

People,, lifes to short to watch reruns of Jericho or the Lost specials.

  12. I for one can’t wait to see Fillion in Castle I love the ideal of a horror writer helping the cops check out the site here http://castletv.net/

  13. Add HOUSE moving to MONDAYS! CRAP! There goes my ‘House/Fringe’ Night! Sometimes I need me a Kyser Blade for the FOX programmers… – Stark

  14. Stark,,,,,
Is that name based on the Farscape character?

  15. I got hopelessly behind on this years “Heroes”.Everyone seems to think it is positively awful. I would like to judge myself, but cannot find a website that has a schedule from week one of re-runs. Can anyone help before the DVD comes out next year?

  16. Bruce, will there be a revised version of this, seeing as there was lots of forgotten or updated info [some in the comments that followed]?

This is a great resource, as I’d like to have these all in one spot as I plan my spring season addictions….

Also at a glance, I notice that your 1/16 date was out of sequence.

    Thanks
