The sixth season of NBC's fan-favorite Parks & Recreation has seen a great deal of upheaval among Pawnee, Indiana's Parks and Recreation department, what with the recall of Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) from the city council, the extended absence of Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt), and the departure of Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe) and Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones).

Despite the challenges with the cast and the show's relatively low ratings, Parks & Rec has a devoted core following, and is apparently beloved by the network itself, at least enough to warrant NBC President Bob Greenblatt's assertion that the show will have a seventh season.

Parks & Recreation's critical success has been noteworthy, and has attracted a number of high-profile guest cameos of a markedly different type than just about any other comedy. True to the sitcom's look at the inner workings of Pawnee's political give-and-take, a stream of Washington, D.C. luminaries have made appearances so far: Arizona Senator John McCain, California Senator Barbara Boxer, former Maine Senator Olympia Snowe, and Smilin' Joe himself, Leslie's hero and Vice-President of the United States, Joe Biden.

Now, The Wrap reports that the First Lady herself, Michelle Obama, will appear for a special cameo on the season 6 finale, set to air on April 24th.

Joe Biden and Amy Poehler

The First Lady evidently filmed her cameo while in Miami to support her "Let's Move" initiative, where she announced a new partnership with Boys and Girls Club of America, the National Recreation and Park Association and the Partnership for a Healthier America. These associations have all pledged to help provide healthier snacks to school kids, part of the First Lady's overall commitment to defeating childhood obesity.

Amy Poehler attended the event as well as introduced Mrs. Obama, and it seems the producers have fit the backdrop of the event into the episode, which is titled "Moving Up." Could this title reference Leslie's next step in achieving her lofty political ambitions? Her dreams were seemingly thwarted when the City of Pawnee's neighbor and centuries-long nemesis, the City of Eagleton, was incorporated into Pawnee, which saw that population replace Leslie in the recall election with one of their own (played by Veronica Mars herself, Kristin Bell).

Expect the First Lady's appearance to be brief, but hopefully pivotal, as the previous political cameos were fleeting and not much more than novelties. A turn by Michelle Obama, on the other hand - who can out-dance Jimmy Fallon and hold her own alongside Will Ferrell - will likely turn out to be a special moment for Leslie Knope.

We'll have more Parks & Rec, but just how much more beyond a seventh season - and who will remain - is still up in the air. One thing we've learned, however, is not to count Leslie out.
