I just don’t know about SHanks – they should have gotten someone who looks like they have the upper body strength required to use a mace as a weapon. Also a REALLY unflattering shot – his chest looks narrower than his waist.

Didn’t Geoff Johns say the Green Lantern wouldn’t be in the movie? Yet now we see the Lantern ring. What are we to make of this? I bet it is part of a flashback, with Hawkman talking about the old JSA and its members. As he talks about them, maybe we’ll get a little flashback visual of each member?

I love the JSA painting and wish we got a good clear shot of it.

If Clark and the others should fight against Zod, they most have a plan to stop him before turns metropolis into he’s own planet, I think if hawkman, green lantern, The Flash, Batman and some one else from justice leauge could come to smallville so they can help Clark, Chloe and Oliver to fight against Zod and he’s army. And next year it’s mayby time for Clark to show the true color on he’s costume after all there will be a movie based on the tv show. Called Metropolis but the question is will Allison Mack, Tom Welling, Erica Durance and Justin Hartley be in the movie. ?

Well, the bit about superhero characters being “ripped” is true… and also untrue. They often tend to have muscle definition where none should exist on a human body. Some comic artists tend to overdo the whole musculature thing.

I can’t tell if this is actually Shanks in disguise or just a really good artist’s rendering of some sort. It looks great, either way, and I personally like to see the show staying so true to Hawkman. He’s a classic character all the way. I thought Smallville jumped the shark a year or so after John Schneider left the show but having watched the current season, they seem to have got a tight handle on matters and are putting out some of their best episodes.

Kolchak, agreed, but i think for a TV show (especially one about superhero “early years”) I’ll be ok with him not too ripped. Though it would add to the character.

And of course he looks ridiculous. This is SMALLVILLE people. Since when have they not had cheesy costumes? lol (Although i really do like the Green Arrow costume)

The costume looks good but it would help if the actor were more ripped. Hawkman is insanely buff. I know it’s always a trade off between getting real actors or WWF wrestlers in superhero parts, but the ripped look is important to comic book properties. It is a visual medium. To be fair, it’s only a one week gig for most actors and they won’t buff out over that. If given a couple of months, like in a movie situation, I’m sure Michael Shanks and most actors would have the dedication to buff up.

The first thing I thought was “Michael Shanks from Doomsday arcade?”

And then after seeing the image I thought “Wow….that looks awful”
