Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum has debunked the rumor that he will be reprising the role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming Arrowverse event, “Crisis On Infinite Earths”. The actor portrayed the famed villain on the Superman prequel series for seven seasons. Many fans still consider his iteration of the iconic character to be the best.

The upcoming Arrowverse crossover will be an adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths, a twelve-part series written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by George Pérez. This is a comic arc that had major repercussions for the entire DC Universe at the time of its 1985 release. The Arrowverse crossover has become an annual event for the CW, with last year’s impressive “Elseworlds” leaving fan expectations for “Crisis” at an all-time high. Over the past few weeks, there have been plenty of exciting announcements for these upcoming episodes. Some of the more exciting developments include the casting of former Man of Steel Brandon Routh as Kingdom Come Superman, a confirmed appearance by Black Lightning (Cress Williams) - who has been absent from these events so far - and Batman: The Animated SeriesKevin Conroy being cast as Bruce Wayne. Marv Wolfman has also been brought on to co-write the story. Like the comic that inspired it, “Crisis” is expected to have a lasting impact on the Arrowverse.

Michael Rosenbaum has taken to Twitter to debunk rumors that he is set to reprise the role of Lex Luthor for the event. A recent article suggested that Rosenbaum would be appearing - though it came from an unreliable source. Rosenbaum stated that this story was the first he’d heard of the news, even questioning Supergirl’s Lex, Jon Cryer, who also said that he’d heard nothing of the sort.

Fans would love to see Smallville stars find their way over to the Arrowverse and they’re not the only ones. Even Arrow star Stephen Amell himself stated that he wanted to see Tom Welling return to the role of Superman for the event - though, for his part, Welling seems more interested in playing Batman instead. “Crisis On Infinite Earths” is set to majorly shake up the Arrowverse. There will no doubt be many changes in store now that its flagship series is coming to an end. However, Batwoman is set to premiere later this year and a new Arrowverse show will also debut in 2020. Aside from the effect that “Crisis" will have on Arrow’s shortened final season, it’s also been revealed that the crossover will have a huge impact on The Flash.

“Crisis On Infinite Earths” is shaping up to be one epic event and it’s likely there are more unexpected announcements still in store. Fans would be overjoyed not only to see Smallville's Lex, but the show's Superman as well. Although it's been off the air for quite a few years, Smallville holds a special place in the hearts of fans. For many, Rosenbaum and Welling's portrayals of these beloved characters remain the definitive versions and it would be amazing to see them show up in the Arrowverse.
