Regardless of what side of the aisle that you sit on, it's hard to ignore the outrage, confusion, fear, and chaos, that America has expressed in the past six months. In recent decades there have been several notable moments that will wind up in future history books. The son of a former president won an election despite losing the popular vote, years later America faced its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and in 2008 the country elected the first African-American president. However, last year's election was a moment unlike any other in modern history.

Former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was the front-running Democratic nominee and on the precipice of making history as the first female U.S. president. She faced an opponent in Donald Trump, who had spent a lifetime in the spotlight for his ups and downs in the business world and as a celebrity on the NBC show, The Apprentice. The campaign was filled with personal jabs, accusations of criminal activity, fake news, email hacks, and that was just in the summer months. However, that all paled in comparison to the actual election which Trump won, despite losing the popular vote by more than 3 million voters.

Since the election Trump's campaign staff and now his White House cronies, have been hounded by numerous intelligence agencies, including the FBI, into possible collusion with the Russian government. Documentary filmmaker and Academy Award winner Michael Moore (Bowling for Columbine) has never been one to shy away from politics or controversy and it was announced today that he's in the midst of producing a revealing documentary on the Trump scandal titled, Fahrenheit 11/9. In a new press release issued by The Weinstein Company, Moore explained what he hopes to achieve with his upcoming movie:

Michael Moore at the Oscars

“No matter what you throw at him [Trump], it hasn’t worked. No matter what is revealed, he remains standing. Facts, reality, brains cannot defeat him. Even when he commits a self-inflicted wound, he gets up the next morning and keeps going and tweeting...That all ends with this movie."

Moore has made his name by taking on powerful corporations, scandals, and leaders, by exposing the truth behind the political smokescreens that may, or may not, be widely reported. His 2004 film Fahrenheit 9/11 is the highest grossing documentary of all-time. It was a detailed account of the murky events that led up to the biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history, while exposing the Bush administration's negligence, as well as little known connections between the Bush family, Saudis, and Bin Laden family, which led to increased war and violence in the Middle East.

Fahrenheit 11/9 will be produced by Bob and Harvey Weinstein under their Fellowship Adventure Group banner. The duo were also the driving force behind Fahrenheit 9/11 getting a wide distribution in 2004, despite a staunch uphill battle. Moore has been covertly developing the project since before the election, as he was one of the first personalities to predict the rise of Trump, months before voters headed to the polls. He will be rejoined by many members of his team from Fahrenheit 9/11 including, Meghan O’Hara, Carl Deal, and Tia Lessin.

Everyday there seems to be new developments revealed in the investigation into Russia's interference in the U.S. election and the possibility of collusion between Trump's campaign with that same foreign power. As claims of "fake news" grow louder, making it harder for citizens to decipher what is real, it should be comforting for moviegoers to have a familiar face compiling, deciphering, and documenting the history that is made daily.

Fahrenheit 11/9 does not have a release date set presently.
