Today, the Daily Mail released some photos taken from the set of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. While these aren’t the first photos we’ve seen pop up from the set, it is the first time we get to see photos of Michael Douglas’ first day reprising the roll of his iconic character, Gordon Gecko.
Not to give all the attention to Mr. “Fancy Pants” (That’s my nickname for Douglas. What? Sir enjoys fancy pants.), More photos were released showing Shia LaBeouf filming a scene with Frank Langella as they stroll through the park. In the film, Shia plays Jacob Moore, a young stockbroker with Langella as his mentor, Lewis Zabel.

Back to “Fancy Pants.” For those hoping to lessen Shia’s presence in the film’s sequel, you’re in luck as the film will also follow Gordon Gecko on the lecture circuit as an author after having spent 14 years in prison for insider trading and security fraud. While nothing has been announced, Charlie Sheen is expected to make a cameo as Bud Fox, the stockbroker who took down Gecko in the first film. Still, with Gordon Gecko around and Fox only making a cameo, he’s going to need a new prospect and since the last time Frank Langella heard the words “new prospect” was in 1845 when he was heading out west because of some “new fangled” philosophy called Manifest Destiny, I have a feeling it’s going to be Shia.
After looking at these photos, I have to say that I’m not feeling the new look for Douglas as Gecko. He seems less intimidating, less energetic… pretty much less everything Gordon Gecko was and everything we loved about him. Still, this was just a photo of him hanging around set and I’m hoping that somewhere within himself he has the power to properly bring back this character and when the film starts rolling he’ll deliver an amazing performance.
I like Shia, but that last photo makes me hate every essence of him. What is up with his shoes? I hate to say it, but he looks like a tool. I mean that in the nicest way possible. I’m a huge Shia fan. (Even Stevens all the way!)
What do you think of Gecko’s his new, less hair gel’d look? Do you think Douglas’ performance will garner him another Academy Award? Maybe a nomination? Honestly, what’s up with Shia’s shoes? I still don’t know how I feel about this film, but I’ll watch it none-the-less.

Damn, I’m glad someone has in-your-face photographical evidence of why Shia needs to go away unless you haven’t seen the evidence already in the movies he’s been in. I hate him and his acting. Sorry, I know you’re a Shia fan but he’s just horrible. Right on the money when you say Shia is a tool. He always has been.
Douglas doesn’t look his part only because he hasn’t had his hair jelled back like in the 1st movie. You said it was him just walking around set so he probably didn’t have his hair prepped yet. Hell I don’t even think he’s gone through wardrobe yet.
First thoughts as well when I saw the pic of Shia. Gordon Gecko cannot look as intimidating as the first film because he was spent the last 14 years in prison and in addition to that Gordon Gecko aka MIcahel Douglas is now an OLD MAN…comne on, Douglas is almost prehistoric at this point….I still think that the movie will be good and that it will be a good reflection about modern times

@tasouli: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, to be sure…but honestly? Age bequeaths experience…I’d be willing to bet that Chuck Norris could absolutely trounce Vin Diesel; also, would you rather have Screen Rant run by some twentysomething who thinks Sockless Shia is the bomb when it comes to acting talent?
Like Vic said, “Yeah, you’re right. Stallone, Eastwood – those old guys couldn’t intimidate a fly”; well, in the case of Eastwood, he’s put out some excellent films as of late, without subscribing to the idea of CGI-this and CGI-that and CGI-everything-in-between.
Bet you anything that both Langella and Douglas don’t forget THEIR socks…
After seeing gran torino eastwood does not intimidate me anymore… I just see him as someone that constantly coughs up blood… Buuuuut at the same time (with those previous words tossed to the side) i have lots of respect for him. Also just wanted to say that if back in his “the good, the bad and the ugly ” days they had the cgi we have today… I would have loved to see him take on the wolverine role.
Stallone is still pretty intimidating though… He seems like he could literally punch my face in ( a la Punisher: Warzone).
On regards to the movie one thing i do agree with tasouli is that a reason douglas isn’t that intimidating might be because of the time spent in jail… He might be a little more “reformed”. Then again it might all be an act just in case he’s being watched. Either way come april or whatever the date is i will watch this movie.
