Metal Gear Solid Poster… With Christian Bale & Daniel Craig?

Published 5 years ago by

Take this one with a huge grain of salt.

There’s been virtually no movement that I know of on the Metal Gear Solid movie of late – but today someone sent me a picture they say they took at Sony Pictures in Culver City, CA this weekend of what looks like a movie poster for Metal Gear Solid.

And that’s not the craziest part…

The pic below shows a July 2011 opening date… and it features Christian Bale & Daniel Craig. I’ve included the original pic and a “tweaked” version to make things more clear.

Here’s the original:

And here’s the cleaned up version:

Christian Bale & Daniel Craig in Metal Gear Solid?

What looks like metal sparks from a welding torch are actually reflections from surrounding lights and are not part of the poster.

I guess we’ll know soon enough if this is real if I get an email asking me to pull it.

What do you think… Craig and Bale in Metal Gear Solid? Have we gotten owned or could this be the real thing?

  1. WOW!!! cant wait

  2. Cool….I really didn’t like the games that much, but if Bale is in it then that at least peeks my interest.

  3. I’m thinking we can go beyond a pinch of salt. I think we need a mountain. Not that this wouldn’t be awesome, though am I the only one that thinks David Hayter should actually be playing Snake? Or maybe Arin Hanson, I guess, lol

  4. I feel like we are getting owned on this one…

  5. sparks look like its part of it.

  6. that would be sweet if they were in it but again I see trouble ahead for Bale. Just taking gigs now for the money no matter the script?

  7. I am pretty sure the image of Bale is from The Prestige..the image of Craig I can’t nail down because I haven’t seen a lot of his films..Layer Cake maybe..

  8. I pray this isnt true… why Bale? He doesnt deserve to be snake (of course im basing Craig/Bale casting choices purely on hair color or Liquid/Solid) but still am I the only one who thinks Bale is a bit second rate as an action hero??

David Hayter should defintly play snake, not only does his voice define the character he also looks the part

  9. That is a bad photoshop job if that is what was used…

  10. @greenknight

You may be right, hence the heavy caveat attached to the pic.

  11. It’s a bad photoshop!

  12. They should use the guy who played the blond guy in Alias (sorry forgot his name…) to play as Liquid

  13. Bale looks like he did when in the Machinist, but could be Prestige. Certainly feel like seen that picture before.
Also hasn’t he enough to do saving Gotham and humanity?

If true, would be great though. Both really good actors.

  14. It’s a bad photoshop. Here’s the original picture of Christian Bale:

Click here to see it: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c183/ferdalump/Daily%20Brois/balephotoshoots/27876_bale02_122_1159lo.jpg?t=1245117381

It was taken by Larsen and Talbert for USA today–and was part of a photoshoot Christian did with Christopher Nolan in 2008 to promote The Dark Knight.

  15. @Jen

    Nice find.

Guy INSISTS he took it there with his camera phone. :)

I wonder if there’s any chance it could just be an internal mock-up poster… (yeah, yeah – I’m reaching).

  16. Umm I think it’s fake , but I think your thinking of the wrong movie Greenknight. That is not from the Prestige that’s not what Bale looked like in the movie.

  17. NO PLZ NO NOT BALE FOR SNAKE, PLZ KEEP IT COLOSE TO THE CHARACTER AS THE GAME HAS PLZZZZZ

  18. I wish.. MGS has a great story with definitive characters. I think they could make it great: Snake battling Raven, Silent Wolf, Revolver, and the rest of Fox Hound with a final battle against the Metal Gear Rex/Liquid? Could be one of the first great video game movies.

  19. Culver Studios, self producing this,? I doubt it.

    This is bs.

  20. This isn’t real.

Firstly, this poster is obviously an amateur fan creation. (“Hideo Kojima” is massive letters? Riiight.)

Secondly, the sparks are PART of the poster (notice how they go behind the crappy looking Metal Gear Solid logo).

Thirdly, the image is just a composite of freely available images in the internet.

Finally, it’s just REALLY amateurish. There’s no way the final MGS movie poster will look ANYTHING like this.

    Sorry!

  21. ya, i’m gonna go with owned

  22. bale is john connor, batman, and now snake…give me a break

  23. this cannot be true! it’s too soon to design a poster for a movie that comes at 2011… BTW photo of bale is taken from terminator photos!

  24. No not Christian Bale !!! why ???
what about Josh Brolin !! he is look like snake , isnt he??

  25. God, CB is ok, but I’m tired of seeing him in every action movie just about. Enough already

  26. Looks like a concept poster used to pitch the story, this idea has been going around for years and Bale has always been interested to be the lead actor.

  27. we got owned, the main lights on the room would also have a grainy effect on the ambient light of the room this was taken, specially if it was a telephone camera.

the picture is too clear and then it becomes lower quality on the poster? nah, we got owned…..

  28. Christian Bale’s name would go before Daniel Craig’s — if this was real.

  29. I agree with Sean. Bale would get top billing.

But this is a very lame poster, real or fake. And last I checked executive producers don’t their names slapped right on the top of the poster, even if they’re the guys who made the source material.
