‘Men in Black 3′ Posters and Image: Agent J & Young Agent K [Updated]

[UPDATE: We’ve added another Men in Black III poster. Check it out in the gallery above, or scroll on down for a larger version.]

The standout moment of the Men in Black III teaser trailer definitely belongs to Oscar-nominee Josh Brolin, who does an impeccable Tommy Lee Jones impersonation while portraying a forty-years younger version of MIB Agent K. Many people are already speculating that Brolin could be the sci-fi comedy threequel’s saving grace and prevent it from becoming the disaster its messy production process points towards.

Sony apparently agrees, judging by the fact that the latest official still released from MIB3 features Will Smith as J alongside Brolin as the (still, no-nonsense) youthful K.┬áNot to mention, two new posters released for the movie likewise emphasize the idea that Brolin will indeed eventually “transform” into Jones.

Take a careful look at the latest pair of Men in Black III posters [UPDATE: along with a one-sheet that features Jones, Smith, and Brolin together] and see what we mean:

Previous reports concerning Men in Black III have indicated that Jones’ scenes as the elder K bookend the film, while the majority of the running time revolves around J and young K trying to stop a time-traveling extraterrestrial biker named Boris (Jemaine Clement) from disrupting the time-space continuum and destroying Earth. If that is indeed the case, that sounds like a dicey approach, given how pivotal the comedic chemistry between Smith and Jones are to the first two MIB flicks.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld appears to be banking on the idea that the dynamic between Brolin and Smith can produce equally hilarious results, as evidenced by the scene depicted below, where J (in a familiar moment) finds himself once again demoted to “Noisy Cricket” status by the young K:

A full-length trailer for Men in Black III is slated to arrive online by the beginning of next week (at the time of this writing). That new footage should provide a preliminary look at how well Smith and Brolin play off one another in the film, while also offering a better taste of the alien-induced mayhem and comedy this threequel has to offer in general.

Men in Black III will arrive in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters around the U.S. on May 25th, 2012.

  1. Wow, for a second I thought you posted the same poster twice, than I realized one was Brolin and one was Jones.

  2. The poster with Tommy Lee Jones looks weird. Something about it is just… off.

    • I know what you mean. When I first looked them over, I thought that was just Jones’ head Photoshopped onto Brolin’s body in the 2nd poster.

    • Lol I agree, its the photoshoped hand with gun i think. Clearly not his, makes him look like he’s got baby hand syndrome. Its the same exact hand and gun for brolin but for some reason it plays off slightly better for him, maybe his head’s smaller than Lee’s hehe

      • Yeah makes him look like he’s got a squishy bullfrog head.

    • I think its the super long lips… It looks like he could unhinge his jaw and swallow my head.

  3. I am really hoping that this is good…

  4. So agent j has a baby arm in this movie? Neat

  5. Agent k* my fault

  6. As far as I’m concerned it will simply relies entirely on the trailer.
    - 5 years overdue sequel
    - MIB2 sucked
    - one of the co-star is clearly taking the exit with this one
    - production was a mess

normally only two of those would be enough for me to pass. BUT

    - there’s so much potential in this franchise. I mean there’s a Saw 8, a FF 5 and only 2 MIB and only 1 is good ???
    - will smith still make it look good
    - 1st time ever that I find the young version of a character convincing. Brolin does look like a young K.

  7. It’s had a very difficult production, but I’m really looking forward to this one.
P.S. Just want to add: The resemblance between Brolin and Jones is uncanny!

  8. The first Men In Black movie was great but the second movie was awful.

Why have a third MIB movie be made? Adding the time-travel plot in the movie might not work out well.

Still this could either turn out to be worse than MIB2 or better than MIB2 and great as MIB1.

  9. I really hope this movie is good but I’m a little disappointed that TLJ isn’t in this one I really enjoyed the chemistry between him and Will Smith. I hope Brolin does him justice

  10. Does anyone know why Tommy Lee Jones is being pushed aside in this franchise? I hope it is not ageism, but it would appear so, seeing as how they are introducing a younger version of himself. Pretty pathetic, from my point of view. I’d rather see more of him and less of Will Smith.

  11. Could be that Jones is tired of the movies and wants to move on – but really, what else has he been doing recently? Maybe they’ll call it quits after this one. The second one wasn’t completely terrible, but there were quite a few plotholes.
This is probably the first Will Smith movie in a long while where he isn’t whoring out the talents of his children. I have a little more respect for him now.
