Just over a week ago, we found out we would not be getting a full trailer for the sequel to Transformers until next May. And why should we when when the movie is marketed, shared and hyped for free with the simple appearance of a set photo, a fan-made concept shot, or a rumor of a certain Autobot or Decepticon’s appearance?

So, faithfully adding to that mix, we have some images which may be giving us a first look at Megatron, and maybe answer whether he will be making a return in the sequel. Transformers World 2005 scored some images that are supposedly concept art from Transformers 2.
Take a look and see what you think:
The new design for Megatron pays tribute to Galvatron (the recreation of Megatron) and could represent “The Fallen” for which the film is titled. We know from the first movie that Bay doesn’t utilize character names properly so this could be the case here. There is already confusion over how Devastator will appear in the sequel if they called some other character that in the first, as well as including one of his component Constructicons in Bonecrusher.
The vehicle shown in the images is designed in the alien protoform style we saw in the first film and the pictures appear to originate from toy packaging. The tank itself looks pretty cool but having Megatron’s face centered and sticking out between the treads looks ridiculous. The concept of “vehicle mode” is that the transformers are not robots, but vehicles - and having his face stick out doesn’t really fit.
I can only imagine that if these are legit, Megatron’s pretty face is there for all of us to see to make him intimidating and allow him to give a little monologue while demolishing things with that mixer whisk of a cannon.
If this vehicle appears in the film, I hope it’s not for long. I would like to see Megatron/Galvatron/Fallen or whoever get a proper vehicle mode that follows the “robots in disguise” motto - I mean, that’s the only reason these robots and the movie are called Transformers.
However after all that, keep in mind, we did hear from Mr. Michael Bay a few months back that misinformation about the sequel would be leaked intentionally to throw off fans. Therefore this could include fake scripts, false reports and yes, even fabricated concept art or images which this could easily fall under.

My guess is concept art, not for this film but from the first.
This looks so much better than what he was in the first film that weird looking jet plane.

I can’t actually say what I really think, as doing so would violate the rules for posting here.
As for being real, maybe. We’ll see when the images of the toys start leaking, which shouldn’t be too far off. Given the lead time necessary for production and getting them into the stores, those images usually leak several months before the toys are on the shelves, which should be as much as a month, or more, before the movie hits theaters.
Do you have an opinion on the design maybe? Do you think this design will appear in the film or do you think its more likely to be fake?
I could not agree with you more. I think that the whole concept car/tank or what ever that thing is sucks. I grew up to Transformers, and I was even disappointed in the first one when Megatron didnt’ turn into a gun. And what’s up with the names??? I mean they gave all the autobots there names, but only Starscream and Megatron from the Decepticons. I won’t lie and say I’m not looking forward to seeing the new one, and was very excited to hear that my favorite character Soundwave will be appearing in the next movie.
I think the design is as bad as all of the designs from the previous movie.
As for whether it’s real, I won’t hazard a guess, but will wait to see what the toy designs look like.
The tank things a bad idea although the space ship plane thing wasn’t well done it still fit more to the character deadly and agile rather than a clumpy tank thing.

Well if the fallen is talking about megatron i am disapointed, i was hoping that they would put a cameo of unicron in it.
Megatron’s tank form rocks it fits a whole lot better than that cybertron jet, although the cyberton jet is also cool. But the tank is a whole lot cooler than before.

I’m fine with his face between the treads. However I’m going to venture a guess and also say it’s concept art from the first film, not meant for the sequel. I agree, though, it’s a much better look than his Cybertronian jet form.
Kinda hard to blend in on Earth, if they keeping giving him “Cybertronian” vehicle modes…. Kinda defeats the purpose, don’t ya think? His face reminds me of the old Go-Bot Rocklord guy….. Thank goodness I still have the animated movie…………….

He doesn’t want to fit in as he is too proud to be a man made object like the rest of them.
does any 1 feel like optimus was a bit of a wimp and if megatron becomes stronger like the cartoon movie he will waist optimus without braking a sweat.

If the plot is true that megatron is reborn or rescued or whatever and more autobots and decepticons are found then fight each other I’m VERY disapointed. What a lazy, lazy sequel plot. I’m sure they will unearth some very powerful weapon and fight over that… come on! They can do much better.

@de ron assis - I totally agree about Optimus. He owned Bonecrusher like it was his job then played ragdoll to Megatron. What happened to that sword?
I also don’t get why all of the transformers would not simply re-morph into flying units? If in the movie, they just scan any object and become it, wouldn’t they all take advantage of flight?
If this Tank is confirmed, does that mean He’s forfeiting flying? Or do those giant jet-engine-looking things on the back of the tank have anything to say about it. I guess any unit can just triple change to a flying unit but we didn’t see that utilized or fleshed out properly in the first film.

I don’t recall. It’s late and I’ve had 3 glasses of wine, but I did read that the images came from Hasbro and they confirmed they are from the film.
