The Wonder Woman movie is a project that has been in-development for years and years now. It has been off and on since way back in 2005 (at least), until earlier this year when it was reported that Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures were trying to get the project moved along (finally), looking for a good spec script and the “right” director to bring the female superhero to the big-screen.

Hollywood hottie-of-the-minute Megan Fox has ben rumored to play Wonder Woman in the movie version, and this was only further sparked when a fan-made image of her in the outfit made its way online (shown above and below). However, like the rumors of her taking over from Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, Fox has denied speculation that she would play Wonder Woman.

But if you’re thinking she might want to do it if asked… not only does she deny she’s been approached, but she flat-out disses the character and the idea of a movie featuring her:

“Wonder Woman is a lame superhero… She flies around in her invisible jet and her weaponry is a lasso that makes you tell the truth. I just don’t get it. Somebody has a big challenge on their hands whoever takes that role but I don’t want to do it.”

Wow, Fox certainly doesn’t shy away from saying what she thinks. Not only does it appear that she doesn’t like the character, but that she doesn’t “get” her…. Having said that, I have to say I’m kind of in agreement with her. I won’t go as far to say the character is “lame,” but as superheroes go, I don’t think she’d be the first one I’d set up as my next tentpole movie project (although, perhaps that isn’t fair to say since this has been a project in-development for years, even before other superhero movies were made).

Also, I’m not sure if a Wonder Woman movie would do all that well at the box office. It certainly wouldn’t tank, but I don’t think it would be the smash success that films like The Dark Knight and Iron Man were (I think more along the lines of The Incredible Hulk). On the other hand we ARE talking about Megan Fox in a low cut top and short skirt, bounding about and flying through the air…

Sadly, as it has been for a while now, there is no official news yet as to which creative direction the Wonder Woman movie will go – with neither a writer nor director in tow – but at least we know now who most likely will not be donning that outfit.

What do you think of Megan Fox’s comments about Wonder Woman? Since she most likely won’t play the character, who do you think should play her instead?

  1. what about jessica biel? imagine her in that outfit? and shes a decent actress.

  2. Biel is a good actress. I’ve never found her attractive, but she would work as Wonder Woman I guess I mean she’s ripped like a dude in a lot of her movies.

  3. What was failed to be mentioned was the fact that Megan Fox said this statement after the people in charge of this project stated that they would not have her play the role (THANK GOD!). After rumors spread that she would be approached to get the role they said that they wouldn’t have her. At first, she was saying that she would love to play this part, representing a real, powerful woman. But now that they reject her she goes and says things like this. I read this on a website a couple of weeks ago, sounds like a spoiled little kid to me.
I am absolutely glad that she will not play this role. Megan Fox comes across as being a bit slutty. Wonder Woman is not like that at all. Megan Fox might be skinny but she doesn’t have the right body type or the face to play Wonder Woman. The girl they originally had cast in the cancelled Justice League movie with the young actors is a much better choice than she is.
I’m glad that Megan Fox will not be able to ruin such a classic character.
For the movie I would watch it just because she used to be as big as Superman and Batman, I would like to see her return to her former glory. With a great script, actors and team of filmmaking, I’m sure they could make this into a successful movie. If Marvel could do it with Thor, who is a God; why can’t DC do it with Wonder Woman who is also from a more fantasy-type world like Thor.
I would like to see this film actually happen, along with the many other great superheroes in the DC Universe.

  4. @Neb66 Not sure Jodi Lyn O’Keefe would make a good WW, she looks too…dominican. Seriously though, her features are too hard.

Jessica Biel don’t seem the type either. Maybe an unknown or little known actor.

  5. @Julissa

a BIT slutty? Really??? How did you get THAT feeling??

    [/sarcasm]

  6. I don’t EVER remember WW being as big as Superman, Batman or even Spider-Man. She, to me, was a B+ character. Not quite Supes or Batman, but not the level of Green Arrow, either.

@Neb-I like your choice. She looks perfect for the part. I’ve never seen Prison Break, so I have no idea if she could act, but she certainly has the look!

  7. @ Andy S

She is part of the main three heroes of the DC universe, Infinite Crisis revolved Batman, Superman and WONDER WOMAN.

    Way to pay attention.

  8. thank you all for responding to the comments I made. I just had PULL THE RACE CARD because i needed to see where some people actually stand with this sore issue. It seems when any person of color speaks out about any subject regarding race(NO MATTER WHAT IT IS the first thing people say now is that they are pulling the race card.It is kind of funny now because I can see that people are so over the race issue. Its nice to see that people are sick of racial issues And those that do pull the RACE CARD.so now I am back( sorry for those who would rather see me disappear) and i will only talk of the real issue which is Wonder Woman and who should play her.

  9. the poster almost had me believe it was real, lol, too bad megan fox couldn’t play her, but she really did make the character sound ridiculous, still wouldn’t mind watching the thing

  10. funny

  11. @Gregory Cole

LOL, yeah OK… anyway, I hope you enjoy the site. :)

    Vic

  12. Panda is right. She’s not a lead anymore than Halle.

Besides, she just doesn’t ‘measure’ up to that costume.

  13. ..How about Jeri Ryan or Diora Baird?
Either one could ‘fill the part’ nicely.

    Just thinking out loud..

  14. This may be out there…. so try and stay with me on this the Woman that i have also thought about the role of W.W.,had a short lived tv show called Pepper Denise, was mystique in the X-Men,she has the height, looks, lord knows she has the body, and can act (MY OPINION SHE CAN)Rebecca Romijn Stamos. So tell me is that pushing it. Google her youtube picture compilation… fantastic.

  15. I don’t see it at all Gregory. Doesn’t seem right at all for the part.

  16. @Daniel F

Alright I’ve waited long enough too ask this.

    Why do you care?

You’ve already said you agree with Megan Fox that WW is lame, and as I’ve seen it you’ve posted at least 20-30 times on the topic.

Again, why do you care who is cast in a “lame” part, let alone posting so much about it?

  17. Thanks Daniel F. for your input, but this is a question for those who actually like the Wonder Woman charater. If W.W. is a lame Hero to you it should not matter to you WHAT SO EVER.

  18. O.K. I do realize Angelina Jolie is older than Megan fox, and that most of you think that she is to old,But i am sorry I just watched Mr and Mrs Smith again… She is Wonder Woman.Down to the Diana Prince role at the end of that movie with the hair up and glasses. So she is older so what. The movie is W.W. not Wonder Girl. Angelina is a Woman. Megan fox Still looks to young for the part.I will say that Megan would be able to grow into the part more cause she so young.I just have A.J. hang up thats all.

  19. @Hammie…

You’re right, I DON’T pay attention to the comic books, anymore. Neither do ALOT of the people that go to see comic book movies. They remember the characters from when they grew up. My only real exposure to Wonder Woman was the TV series and the Superfriends cartoons. She never seemed like a MAIN character to me. I liked the character, but to tell me that she is as big as Supes and Batman is just crazy talk.

  20. @ Andy S

The main characters of Superfriends were Superman, Batman, WONDER WOMAN, Aquaman, and the Wonder Twins. try and go watch a few more episodes on Boomerang.

And considering she had her own TV show where as Green Lantern, Aquaman, Hawkman never did; should tell you something.

But then again you don’t pay attention too closely.

  21. @Gregory, no to Angelina either. She looks too bimbo-ish, not anyone strong enough to play a superhero. She was completely unbelievable in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, it looks like she can barely hold up the guns she was using, it was pretty sad.

About Rebecca Stamos, I don’t know, obviously the hair is the wrong color, and also obviously it can be dyed, but I don’t know… But I can’t think of anyone myself either so…

  22. Angelina Jolie looks ‘bimbo’ ish??? Are you kidding?? Now I’ll give you that her body isn’t curvaceous enough, but a bimbo she ain’t.

  23. Oh yah, my mistake, she’s so intelligent and strong…

  24. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0708381/

She is perfect for Wonder Woman.

She has height, build, hotness and she is a Tony award winner for playing a royal.

  25. The thing is that the Wonder Woman that most people write off as being lame is not the Wonder Woman that currently exists in the DC Comics universe. While I’m not sure if the jet is still around, she can fly on her own now and I certainly can’t recall seeing the invisible jet for some time. Also, she doesn’t deflect bullets with her bracelets anymore, she’s got freaking super strength and she’s invulnerable. Not to mention the lasso of truth has been recently showcased as a pretty powerful defensive weapon in Gail Simone’s run of the Wonder Woman book and even in other recent Wonder Woman related material like the animated movie.

Honestly, I think the animated movie itself is a great example of how to make a Wonder Woman live action movie. In fact, though most of the movie I just kept thinking, “Why couldn’t this have been live action?”

The problem is that Wonder Woman doesn’t have the same amount of note worthy work related to her as Superman and Batman. Batman’s material is made of huge, industry changing graphic novels like The Dark Knight Returns and Superman has had loads of memorable Elseworlds projects like Red Son or big company wide specials like The Death of Superman made about him. Wonder Woman doesn’t have that. That could of course be changed with the correct writer and if people would give a Wonder Woman book a chance instead of just writing her off as so much lame girl stuff.

Honestly, writing Wonder Woman off because of her bullets and bracelets invisible jet flying past would be like writing off the current Batman because of the old Adam West TV incarnation. While the old incarnation is still fun and valid (I love the old Wonder Woman TV series and I can dig some of the 40s comics) it’s not the same as what you are getting now.

  26. @Phil
Then why did she need an invisible jet? Oh, wait a minute, maybe it was just to transport that pilot back to America. With the right writers and director, I think this movie could work. Also, the X-Men movies didn’t have their same uniforms, so maybe WW can have a totally different costume.

  27. @Hammie…

WTF did I say to you that got a bug up your butt? I KNOW WW was a main character on Superfriends, but to tell me that she is as big as Superman or Batman is just your own wishful thinking. I have stated that I like the character; would like to see a well-written movie, but that I really don’t know as much about her currently as I do the other. I realize that she is a bigger character than Green Arrow or Aquaman in the DC universe. However, I bet MORE people know about Supes, Bats and Spidey than they do about WW. THAT is what I meant by being a B+ character.

  28. @John…

Yeah, the costume would probably change for a movie. Worked well for X-Men, can work for WW, too.

  29. @Ken J

Ken, yes you do have your opinion everyone is entitled to that,But please please please forgive me when i say that you are smoking something. A.J. is completely believable in that movie as well as Wanted and the Tomb Raider movies, and alot of the time she insist on doing her own stunts.I am sorry I just had to run what you said about her to a few of my friends and 9 of the twelve people i ran it by said you were smokin something. The others said you were watching the wrong movie. If you think jolie cant hold a gun Megan fox sure as heck can’t.
