The Wonder Woman movie is a project that has been in-development for years and years now. It has been off and on since way back in 2005 (at least), until earlier this year when it was reported that Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures were trying to get the project moved along (finally), looking for a good spec script and the “right” director to bring the female superhero to the big-screen.

Hollywood hottie-of-the-minute Megan Fox has ben rumored to play Wonder Woman in the movie version, and this was only further sparked when a fan-made image of her in the outfit made its way online (shown above and below). However, like the rumors of her taking over from Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, Fox has denied speculation that she would play Wonder Woman.

But if you’re thinking she might want to do it if asked… not only does she deny she’s been approached, but she flat-out disses the character and the idea of a movie featuring her:

“Wonder Woman is a lame superhero… She flies around in her invisible jet and her weaponry is a lasso that makes you tell the truth. I just don’t get it. Somebody has a big challenge on their hands whoever takes that role but I don’t want to do it.”

Wow, Fox certainly doesn’t shy away from saying what she thinks. Not only does it appear that she doesn’t like the character, but that she doesn’t “get” her…. Having said that, I have to say I’m kind of in agreement with her. I won’t go as far to say the character is “lame,” but as superheroes go, I don’t think she’d be the first one I’d set up as my next tentpole movie project (although, perhaps that isn’t fair to say since this has been a project in-development for years, even before other superhero movies were made).

Also, I’m not sure if a Wonder Woman movie would do all that well at the box office. It certainly wouldn’t tank, but I don’t think it would be the smash success that films like The Dark Knight and Iron Man were (I think more along the lines of The Incredible Hulk). On the other hand we ARE talking about Megan Fox in a low cut top and short skirt, bounding about and flying through the air…

Sadly, as it has been for a while now, there is no official news yet as to which creative direction the Wonder Woman movie will go – with neither a writer nor director in tow – but at least we know now who most likely will not be donning that outfit.

What do you think of Megan Fox’s comments about Wonder Woman? Since she most likely won’t play the character, who do you think should play her instead?

  1. i guess all i need to say is “Shut up, meg.”

  2. I haven’t read all the comments, however, if I had to choose an actress to play Wonder Woman I would choose an entirely different Megan – Megan Gale. Not saying that Fox wouldn’t look fantastic, but Gale is more what I would envision Wonder Woman as. More ‘Amazonian’ ;)

    • Eh, many actors/actresses don’t know a part before they are approached/sign up for said part. I don’t think her not knowing the character should disqualify her from playing the part. Who’s to say Angelina Jolie knew what Lara Croft was about when she accepted the part? And that’s just one of several dozens of examples. That being said, she’s clearly not interested in taking the part, and whatever her reasons may be for that, that’s how things stand. If this movie ever gets made (and I for one hope it does), I pray it will the character justice. Let’s face it, Wonder Woman is fanboy/girl material and anyone that doesn’t know her doesn’t give a rat’s ass about it. That’s the audience they should be focusing on and the best way to please said audience is to stick close to the original material. When there are more then rumors flying around, we’ll be able to better speculate on the subject at hand.
Personally, I’m glad Megan Fox is unlikely to play her, but that’s just a personal opinion that doesn’t make any difference to anyone but me. It’s not like any of us have any real say over who it’ll be. If anyone.

  3. I just think that WW should be made and without fail. The whole iconic tale should be told with a very good, modern grounded script as the audience of today is far more sophisticated than even 10 years ago. My take on the whole ethos of WW:

Obviously bring the story up to date with a slightly re-imagined origin story that would begin in WW’s home world. A crisis of some sort with a fierce enemy that is hellbent on destroying her world and the world of men. After almost decimating her world with its minions, she vows revenge to destroy the enemy as she follows it to the world of modern men. As a princess she has powers but these are given to her so that she can carry out her mission to destroy the enemy and its minions. The powers are:
flight, strength, ultra fast reflexes(deflecting bullets and other weapons), unique fighting style that is as good as any current martial arts and a fierce determination with a zero tolerance for baddies and bullies. Her uniform would also be less flamboyant and more in the style of Greek military garb. She also has a sword which she has a focused power that is sourced from within her. This is her most powerful weapon.
To play her I would like to see Monica Bollucci, Lena Headley or Erica Durance. She has to be unskinny with a good height(5’8+). Thats all I have to say..

  4. I think that Megan Fox would be one of the best woman to play the character Wonder Woman, she has it all to play the role as Wonder Woman, she would make that movie the best, she should take the part because one she is perfect to be Wonder Woman, two she will get payed to be the charter, even if she don’t want to do it she should for all her fans, and she will get paid for it done deal we get what we want and she gets the money for the part. Well I really hope she will take the role as Wonder Woman I would definitely watch that movie.

  5. Megan may look like Wonder Woman, but I don’t see her as a warrior princess.
To me the role should go to OLIVIA WILDE!

  6. Rachel Weisz would be an amazing Wonderwoman :)
