it will be interesting to see how well he will pull off the hammer character

I love Sam Rockwell, so this is very exciting for me. he has played a few bad guys with a sense of humor(Matchstick Men, Charlies Angels), so it really doesnt bother me. Plus, both Downey and Rockwell have a very good cockiness about them that shines through in the characters they play. Honestly I think that Rourke has very few lines and this is a Rockwell dominated movie(in respects to the villains lines in the movie). Rockwell is to Jim Carrey the Riddler as Rourke is to Tommy Lee Jones Two Face is the way I see it.

Ken J says:

I’m confused at to the role he would play in IM2 and anything in the future. So he’ll be the evil genius financially backing all of the future IM villains or something? Either way, any update on IM2 is a good update because that means it is moving forward, oh yah, can’t wait.

Ken J says:

Oops, meant to say “confused as to the role” not at to…

Rob Keyes says:

Look at that sinister look by Mr. Rockwell…

G.K says:

What if, now this is just a theory, but what if Hammer uses Whiplash as a ‘test’ for Iron Man to see just how strong he is and breaking points are. then begin to make his own Iron man (one made out of titainum perhaps?) that will start to do things that Iron man would. Meanwhile Tony has had unexplained blackouts (his three martini breakfasts arent helping much either) that makes him think he is doing this. soon he drinks more and more to allevate the pain till one point he fights titianum man drunk and loses

Gorjirus says:

The only problem I have with this, and it is a geek point that really might not matter in the long if Sam does a good job with the role, but Justin Hammer is supposed to be some ancient old guy, (we are talking around 80).

Rob Keyes says:

@ Gorjirus,

You’re right bud.

I think they’re aiming for Hammer and Stark being complete equals and therefore better rivals (fame, money, skill and age).

Ken J says:

I can see the merit of going either way. With the younger one, it appears to be a more even rivalry, but with the older one, you get the whole dimension where sometimes Stark’s brilliance will be overtaken by the older guy’s experience with dealing with people like Stark. We’ll see how this take works out.

RastaZen says:

I’m not familiar with this Justin Hammer character.
Is he just another evil millionaire playboy industrialist ?
or does he put on a costume and commit acts of super-evil ?

someone enlighten me , please :)

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a perfect call for favs to include Justin Hammer in Iron Man, so happy that he went with this, because it won’t feel like too much of a robot vs robot wars and more like a businessman vs businessman war as well.

I just think that Rockwell looks a bit meek , there is no fury in his eyes so to speak just an evil, sinister stare. Do not get me wrong, it is not bad , just that the rockwell I am familiar with in the comics always seemed a more stronger chracter mentally that Stark and had that stranght in his face. But I will wait and see how favs pulls this off, after all, he does have quite a bit of respect for the chracters in Iron Man, which is respectable in itself.

But he is a good casting call though, I would not mine Rockwell as JH.

FRED says:

sorry, big typo. This is what I meant to write- “I just think that Rockwell looks a bit meek , there is no fury in his eyes so to speak just an evil, sinister stare. Do not get me wrong, it is not bad , just that the JUSTIN HAMMER I am familiar with in the comics always seemed a more mentally stronger chracter than Stark and had that strenght in his face.”

LOL, Rockwell was in no comics.

@RastaZen

Hammer is an evil businessman, I don’t think he ever put on a suit of armor.

Glad to hear that things are moving along on this film! Looking forward to more IRON MAN!!

Drew says:

I read a rumor that Mickey Rourke will be playing Omega Red in Iron Man 2. I know. way out of left field, but after seeing the latest picture of Mickey sporting the new hair-do for the movie, it looks like he could be Omega Red. Rourke had his hair pulled up in a pony tail on the top of his head just like Omega Red does. It looks sorta Samurai-ish.

Think about it Rourke isnt playing Crimson Dynamo or Whiplash, but a cross between them.

Omega Red has retracting carbonadium tentacle that acts as whips.

Omega Red is also a Serial Killer/Child Rapist in Russia.

As much as I would rather see Wolverine take on Omega, I would love to see him on the big screen.

FRED says:

Okay, if that is the case then Favs would probably be trying to sneek in the extremis armour as Stark as an event response when he gets infected by the death spores. But I think that that Favs would keep Mickey Rouke as Crimson Dynamo and not use the extremis armour so quickly, but I would like to see Omega Red as it is a refreshing from the first movie’s transformer-like style story line-the robot vs robot thing.
