The Falcon and the Winter Soldier revealing that Sharon Carter is indeed the Power Broker means that she once again failed Peggy Carter's legacy in the MCU. Marvel Studios' second Disney+ series had a straightforward and grounded story following Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes' new adventure in a post-Infinity Saga world. But it did feature one twist — the revelation that Sharon has made a villainous turn and is now the criminal mastermind known as the Power Broker.

Introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Agent 13 was tasked by Nick Fury to keep an eye on Steve Rogers, who was still settling into his life in modern times. When S.H.I.E.L.D. fell, she joined the government through the terror task force, effectively involving her during the Sokovia Accords battle in Captain America: Civil War. Sharon betrayed her organization to help Steve Rogers and Team Cap, resulting in her being branded as an enemy of the state. Years later, she re-emerged in the MCU in Madripoor where Sam and Bucky learned that she's dealing high-art in the black market. As it turns out, however, valuable artifacts aren't the only thing she's selling; she's also creating super soldiers and making money off of their services.

In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 6's post-credits scene, Sharon was fully pardoned and given back her old job — as promised by Sam when they reunited in Madripoor. However, she seems to be set on her villainous ways as the series' stinger also revealed that she has no intentions of stopping her illegal operations. It's uncertain what her motivations are considering that she can rebuild her life now that she's back working for the U.S. government, but whatever the case may be, this highlights how she once again failed Peggy's legacy. While she has operated with the same principle that her grand-aunt did for the most part of her MCU arc, almost starting a romantic relationship with Steve on the heels of the S.H.I.E.L.D. founder's death is not just off-putting, it's disrespectful to her memory. To be fair, the former Captain America was actively participating throughout their whole flirtation period that culminated in a kiss. But things are different and much worse this time, Sharon becoming the Power Broker is a decision that she made on her own.

Sharon Carter Power Broker

Marvel Studios didn't get into the specifics on how and why exactly Sharon became the Power Broker. However, it was heavily implied that she resorted to illegal ways in order to survive after she was essentially abandoned. While Ant-Man and Hawkeye were able to strike a house arrest deal and the rest of the members of Team Cap were able to continue to be in contact as they hid from authorities, no one checked on what happened to her, despite the fact her life was jeopardized simply because she decided to help Steve and his team.

Taking this into consideration, Sharon turning evil to fend for herself was somehow understandable, but choosing to continue being on the side of evil after she was pardoned is definitively wrong. Considering that she was even called Agent Carter — the same moniker that Peggy had during her days in active duty - during her reinstituting ceremony made this so much worse as it highlights how Sharon's supposed to be her grand-aunt's successor.

At this point, there are af couple of future MCU projects where Sharon Carter can appear after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. She could ultimately be the villain of the reported Captain America 4 movie focusing on Sam's Star-Spangled Avenger. Otherwise, she can also factor in Armor Wars since she's looking to sell weapons in the black market. Whether or not Sharon is redeemable following her villainous turn is currently unknown, but if Peggy knew what she's up to, she would more likely be very disappointed.
