Maybe work on a Terminator sequel should wait another 7 years... Why not instead focus on continuing Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles? That was an AMAZING series which ended on a disappointing cliffhanger - and, instead of using the same old time-travel cliché, the series could interchange between the two time lines (present/past and present/future).

What we know . . .

Salvation introduced the war which didn't appear to be as bad as portrayed in the flashbacks of T1 and T2. T-600's are the main killers in the movie and there were no laser guns (as previously seen in the flashbacks of the first two movies). Kyle Reese and Conner meet for the first time and the T-800's have just went into production.

Knowing this and hearing that there will supposedly be two more installments to this franchise, this is how I think it should go.

T-5 deemed as Terminator: The fall of man - The war gets worse due to advancements and mass production of the T-800's and there firearms that parallel the scenes of the flashbacks we all know so well. The introduction of "laser" guns to the resistance and the difficulties of spotting the terminators due to the advanced human resemblance such as the flashback from T-1 when Kyle was telling Sarah about the future and she was dreaming about it. Just as in Salvation the resistance, now becoming worn down due to Skynets robotic advancements, will intercept the blueprints for time travel unit that Skynet has created alongside the mission objective for the T-800 that will be sent back, to kill Sarah Conner. In an attempt to create there own time traveling unit they realize that certain parts needed for the unit are manufactured only in the many Skynet bases around the world. The climactic scene being that Conner and Reese go to one of the bases to retrieve this part. While in Skynets base, Reese finds information stating that he is Conners dad . . .

As they did with the Matrix Reloaded there will not be a definitive ending but only a "to be continued" where the sixth installment, that I would call Terminator: Redemption will start right from the ending of the fifth installment . . .

Terminator redemption involves the creation of the time traveling unit. my plot is kinda thin at the moment but what I think should happen. The war rages and Reese has still not told Conner that he knows he is his father. Like I said my plot is thin for this movie but at the end of this movie is when they find out that the T-800 has been sent back which is where Kyle Volunteers to go back to protect Sarah. Conner is hesitant . . . I can see it now, Kyle looking at Conner right as he's about to go through time and saying "How else am I going to meet your mother" . . .

No matter how it goes time travel should wait till the end of the new trilogy to tie it all together making the new trilogy a prequel to the old trilogy. I've read rumors that the next sequel will have time travel and will take place in 2011 in London. Come on, I've waited for years to see the humans and machines fight and to see how the war pans out. Don't rob me and others of this. Time travel should only be used to tie the two trilogies together and not be used for any other reason.

If time travel is a must for the next installment it shouldn't be Conner going back in time, as I have read rumors, but a scene where he sends Kyle back. And if time travel is still a must for the third installment they will have to introduce the T-1000 in the Post Judgment Day war and Show them sending a T-800 back due to knowing a T-1000 was also sent back for reference to Terminator 2 Judgment Day. But as for my own opinion, the time traveling should wait till the last installment and tie into Terminator 1.

P.S. I look at Terminator 3 the same way as Aliens 3 and 4, they were made to make more money not to make good movies.

>@DAVID GUIVANT, it was explained in(Terminator) that Skynet >couldn’t locate Sarah Connor’s exact location because the >nuclear war. (Made things a bit messy)
>
>Therefore finding records of her parents wasn’t an option

Umm a Terminator just has to travel back in time to BEFORE Judgement Day and then find some way to communicate that information to the future Skynet. I think the continual sending of Terminators back in time is lame. Remember in the very first Terminator the time travel machinery was supposed to be destroyed so how did they come back in T2, T3? That was never explained in the movies :(

I have wrote down about 26 times, and now i will write down again: A real and not just a real terminator fan, but for the simple audiences are very dissapointed about this plan of T5 idea. It is totally madness plan! Maybe for a 10-15year old kid and some fool who don't know nothing about terminator film are like this idea, and these people only 10% or 15% but the other percent of audiences are VEEERRYYYY VERRYYY NOT INTERESTED AND REFUSE THIS TOTALLY WRONG IDEA... So the story has to rewrite...This is as serrious as the idea was in the T4: when connor has become a robot and killed: reese, his wife, and the others...so...no comment :( It is time to think it over ... I don't understand, perhaps the T4 is not a J.Cameron feeling film, but it was good for a lot of people who i asked, and therefor i can't believe what happened to McG that he write a mad plan for T5...:( It's very serrious!!! :( Our fan member hope they recreate this idea as soon as possible :(

Why cant it just be a trilogy about the future war!? Wasnt that the whole idea of this trilogy? We already have T3 and The Sarah Connor chronicles. We dont need another T2-rerun.

We want to se post apocalyptic battlefields and friggin sharks with friggin lasers on their heads!

Yeah there is more to the Terminator movies than just action....thats why the first two were great, T3 on the other was just about action.

While I am looking forward to "Terminator Salvation" I think McG shouldn't do this, I personally hope that Cameron will come back after "Avatar" is released.
