I think it could be the other way around. I'm beginning to think the new Transformers movies are stealing from the Terminator franchise. Let me list some of the ways comparing ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ to ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’:

-The main good robot in the movie dies, giving his life for the main human hero’s well being (although in Transformers he does get resurrected) , "GEE, DOES THAT... SOUND... FAMILIAR?" (end of Terminator 2)

-in revenge of the fallen a robot that can 'shape shift' into a human is sent to try and kill the villains main enemy "JUST... LIKE... THAT... OTHER MOVIE!"
(Terminator 2 Judgement Day [the SHAPESHIFTING T-1000 going after John])

-the villain uses Sam's loved ones (his parents) to blackmail him "AGAIN, 'VERY ORGINAL'." (The T-1000 does the same with John's mum in... you guessed it, Terminator 2)

-both movies comment on the self destructiveness of human nature (T2 did first);
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
THE TERMINATOR: It's in your nature to destroy yourselves.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
OPTIMUS PRIME: We've witnessed your human capacity for war. You would absolutely bring more harm than good.

The list goes on...

This Transformers has taken from the Terminator franchise. They thought they could hide that. Granted Megan Fox is a good distraction, but even she can only hide so much.

[...] With those in mind, these robots look absolutely awesome! Michael Bay’s Transformers may have helped remind recent American mainstream filmmakers to employ giant robots. What’s gladly not shared between the two is a subtle but good attention to construction. These robots look a lot more believable than Michael Bay’s renditions which had parts looking like a collage made up of random parts (though convincingly rendered). I entered the key words: “michael bay transformers a pile of junk” and I found fellow internet strangers who share my opinion on the look. Here’s the picture comparison provided by the site. [...]

About the feud between MCG and Michael Bay, i must say Bay is being childish. Bay must not seen Cameron's first two terminator films that had big robots called Hunter Killers i think that had no legs but were big robots on the ground. and the standing robot in Terminator Salvation really aint that different. Though i enjoyed Bay's transformers film, he still disappointed me by not doin his research on the transformers names. anyways, bottom line is Bay is whining over nothin. he couldnt possibly be worried about compitition over two franchises that got nothin to do to one another.

... Yes, I understand it was a joke, just saying the joke would have actually been funny if it made sense, which it doesn't, thus this quote from my post:

"so it’s kind of a joke that makes no sense"

I'm pretty sure I just acknowledged that it was a joke. But I'll take your ten buckaroos anyway. ;-)

Or maybe you should spend it to buy yourself reading comprehension skills...

OOooohhhhhhh...ok, sorry, that was corny... *EPIC FAIL* :-D

I agree - Cameron's blessing is the only one that actually matters and is an indicator of the quality of the film.

And getting Arnold's blessing would be nice. He promoted T3 because he was in the movie, so obviously he's going to promote it. But he's not in this film, if he says good things about it, it might actually be true. I really do remember something about Arnold saying T3 was not a good movie at some point after the movie had finished its theatrical run. Maybe I'll look for it when I get home from work.

But definitely if it gets Cameron's blessing that would mean something.

I think the purpose of all of this "asking for blessings" BS is not in the fear of offending anyone, it's for publicity. Fans of the original (real) series T1 and T2 that were let down by the atrocity that is T3 would probably be skeptical of T4. He's trying to "win" them back by going "look, the people behind the originals think this is good, it's not going to be crap like T3."

I don't see how a blessing from Snow White would accomplish this, so it's kind of a joke that makes no sense, but whatever...

And getting Arnold’s blessing would be nice. He promoted T3 because he was in the movie, so obviously he’s going to promote it. But he’s not in this film, if he says good things about it, it might actually be true.
I thought I remember after the movie was done in theaters and there was no real need to promote it anymore that Arnold actually admitted that he thought the movie wasn't good... (T3 I mean)

WHy does McG need Arnold's blessing for this new Terminator movie..the last one sucked monkey dandriff and that had Arnold's blessing too...Geez why are they afraid to say they can make a decent Terminator movie without the blessings of Cameron, Arnold, Hamilton, etc ,etc

WHy not get the blessings of Edward Furlong (the most annoying aspect of the T2), Robert Patrick, Joe Morton, Nick Stahl, Kristanna Loken, Claire Danes, Earl Boen(the only member other than Arnold to appear in all three films), Ronald McDOnald, the Burger King, TDK, Snow White and whoever else they think they need to make this film so no one previously attached to the franchise gets offended because they weren't asked for a blessing..

Just make a good movie and you'll have nothing to worry about blessings from anyone except the people who buy tickets to see it...
