Over the first four months of 2012, moviegoers have been offered a few great films and a bunch of mediocre offerings. But now, the season of summer blockbusters is set to begin with the highly-anticipated release of The Avengers. Featuring a team of superhero superstars including Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, this film is already breaking box office records.
But The Avengers isn't the only movie to look forward to this month. May 2012 will feature the release of the long-awaited Men in Black III and the international blockbuster Battleship makes its debut in the United States (it's already opened overseas).
As we've done before, here's a list of films that we at Screen Rant are looking forward to this month. We've settled on 7 films - and this time we're counting down the movies, ranking them from least to most most-anticipated movie of the month.
John, just pointing out that the headline says “7 Movies We’re Looking Forward To: May 2012″, yet the in-article-title says “9 Movies We’re Looking Forward To: May 2012″ while in total, there were only 6 movies (I think you forgot to add MIB3)…
Anywho, I’m only looking forward to seeing The Avengers a few more times (it was just THAT awesome ) and I’ll also be catching MIB3 near the end of the month. I honestly couldn’t care less about the others.
I’ve never heard of the movie directed by Bobcat, so I’ll look for SR’s review of that one. Avengers is a no-brainer (number 1 on my list), MIB 3, then Battleship; I may check out Dark Shadows (depends on reviews).
@ Kahless
When people ask what do reviewers or critics mean when they say “dark comedy” I use WGD as a example.
You’ll be able to judge for yourself if you watch it wether or not you like it but most people I know who’ve seen it either just thought it was ok or they hate it.
Just to let all the none British people know. Avengers kicked some major ass in my book and had some pretty darn comedic moments that will have you in hysterics. Definitely worth it’s hype in my opinion! Just 4 more films on my list to go!
Only Avengers for me. Too many other good movies coming this summer to waste it on crud like Battleship. If Battleship came out in say… February I may have thought about it though.
battleship is getting bad reviews, already been out in australia for ages, i liked godbless america but it’s not for everyone. avengers was awesome. i can wait to see MIB3, and dark shadows doesn’t really excite me at all, i’m kind of sick of the burton/depp combo

The Avenger,
Thanks, it’s been corrected. These list posts are very twitchy when it comes to formatting.
