Production on director John Moore's fifth entry in the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard, is currently underway in Hungary. The latest installment was already set to be a family affair as John McClane's son, John McClane Jr. (played by Spartacus star, Jai Courtney), enters the fray in a pivotal role - but he won't be the only younger McClane running around.

It is being reported that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is reprising her role as John McClane's (Bruce Willis) daughter from Live Free or Die Hard, Lucy McClane.

Bleeding Cool is citing the blog of Ted Cross, who's serving as an extra on the film, and recently wrote about working alongside the actress (NO SPOILERS):

"I got to work with Bruce Willis again, which is always nice. The best, though, was that I got to work with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Willis's daughter. I've had a crush on her ever since she was the lead actress in Scott Pilgrim vs the World. "

While plot details of A Good Day to Die Hard are still being kept under wraps, the basic premise revolves around Willis heading to Russia to bail his estranged son out of jail, only to get wrapped up with him in some sort of terrorist plot. It was initially speculated that Winstead wouldn't be returning, only because the franchise as a whole seemed ready to shift to McClane's son, who's been described as "a badder ass than John McClane." While it's unclear at this point how it'll be done, Lucy McClane will apparently be involved in the plot, one way or another.

In the fourth entry she was eventually taken hostage by Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) and used as leverage to lure out McClane and Matt Farrell (Justin Long) so they wouldn't sabotage his own terrorist plot. While it would feel a bit recycled, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine Winstead being used as bait once again, but that's nothing more than speculation.

Live Free or Die Hard, despite featuring some truly outlandish stunts and action sequences (the tunnel chase and the fight on the jet, in particular), was received well by critics and audiences, which spurred on the fifth film in the series. The film could see a more serious shift in tone under Moore's eye, as the director has indicated that he's not interested in the sarcastic and sometimes silly humor associated with past entries (I'm sure we can still count on at least one, "Yippee Ki Yay," though).

In addition to Willis and Courtney, Winstead will be joined in the film by Cole Hauser (2 Fast 2 Furious), Russian actress Yulia Snigir, and Sebastian Koch (Unknown).

A Good Day to Die Hard is scheduled for a February 14, 2013 release date.
