John "Kahless" Taylor says:

I just checked wikipedia and RDJ isn’t that old after all, only 43. Wesley Snipes will be 48 in 3 years, so he may be a stretch to play Black Panther.

790 says:

I have a feeling Snipes won’t serve all 3 years.
He’ll prob be out in less than a year.

Jimmy the C says:

Robert Downey Jr can play T’Chaka AND T’Challa.
(Did you see his new movie promo?)

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

The movie where he plays an actor in Vietnam posing as a black man? Yeah, I saw that and he looks very convincing.

KEL says:

This is great news. Bring it on!

I can’t wait for the Cap movie, Iron Man 2, and Avengers!

Too bad we have to wait 2-3 years tho.

I can do without out a Thor film, but if they do Thor, I hope they do the original/classic comics’ version with Don Blake. :-)

Too bad WB/DC can’t set up their movies in the same universe like this. If they ever did a JLA film it would have to be with a Batman and Superman who are from the same reality and not from the BB and SR U.

790 says:

Yeah KEL, Marvel is making DC look like newbees.

Gary says:

i heard the thor movie was going to take place on Asgard.
They are going for a Lord of The Rings type epic.

Rick says:

Adrian: Matthew McConaughey is the *exact* person I have been talking about for Cap, too. He is built, blonde, good actor and has just enough “down home country boy” thing going already.

Rick says:

I would go with Djimon Hounsou (from Gladiator and Blood Diamond) for T’challa nowadays.

Rick says:

As a side note, I am getting a bit fed-up with all these multi-line titles things. Personally, I would go the other direction and call the Captain America film something like “America,” period.

KEL says:

McConaughey is a HORRIBLE choice for Cap. One of the worst choices, he’d be worse than Reb Brown. Just my opinion as a longtime Cap fan. Keep his ass away from Cap I say. If he could play any superhero it would be Booster Gold for DC.

Screen Rant says:

Why all the hate on McConaughey as Cap? If he beefed up I think he’d be great. He’s got “All-American” written all over him and he can play the ultra good guy really well. Did you guys see him in “Contact?”

Vic

Adrian says:

Exactly, Vic. I’m sold on picking Matt. You will be surprise at how hardened, heroic, and commanding, but charming he can be. KEL, remember people didn’t think RDJ good enough for Ironman and look how that turned out! Remember “Reigh of Fire”? Like I said early in this forum, KEL buddy, rent “Reign of Fire” again and take a look at Matt performance. That’s Cap in battle mode which is perfect to me.
He holds his on against “Batman” Bale in that film and is the last bad @ss in England on that film. Just given him a open-minded chance.:)

790 says:

(IMO) Matthew is too redneck and not quite buff enough.

He was good in that horrible film “riegn of fire” but that was years ago when it seemed he had more passion for acting. (Too me) it looks like he’s a slacker in the choices he makes in films and he’s lost his edge. (IMO).
I also have doubts about him doing sequels.

Good choice would that blond guy from American Gladiators.
He’s an unknown and I think that’s what this film needs.
I would give Matt a chance but I don’t see him as being the best choice.

Panda says:

“McConaughey is a HORRIBLE choice for Cap”

preach on bro. I don’t hate him, I just don’t like him for a superhero type.

Vic – I did like him in Contact, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. he’s just not a superhero.

Get an unknown and sign him for a 5 movie option

Adrian says:

Sorry you guys, looks like I was smoking crack on that paragraph.

Adrian says:

790: Matthew’s southern draw is perfect for Cap, because it is so uniquely American like John Wayne. No other country sounds that way. Matthew is also very witty, confident, and humbled. He can also bulk up, like Bale, Jackman and RDJ did. Use stuntmen for the acrobatics and martial arts. He’s also acted opposite of Pacino and Sam Jackson and held his on.

Adrian says:

Also guys, Matthew has enough star power (equal to that of RDJ’s and Norton’s) to bring in both international and domestic non-comic fans, and especially LOTS OF WOMEN to help sale Cap as a very strong tentpole.

790 says:

Well I like the guy, I guess but Captain America with a southern drawl….?
I just don’t know what the fans of the comic would say about that.
Oh yeah, check out KELs comments.

Adrian, have you seen that blond Gladiator guy from the new American Gladiators show?
He would be perfect. They could even save a few million by not casting McConaHEY.

I think there looking at Matthew to bring in the ladies.
I say this in closing, if the script sucks it won’t matter who’s in the suit.

Adrian says:

790: Your right about the script, but with Marvel at the helm, I’m not too worried.

FYI guys: It more believeable that a “country” boy could throw that shield than a northerner!

Adrian says:

KEL: LOL, Booster Gold, yeah your right, but I think ANY American male would take pride and honor in having the chance to be Steve Rogers the one and only CAPTAIN AMERICAN. I also have a lot of love and pride for the Captian too. Always picked him in the Avengers arcade game and just about teared up with anger that Marvel “killed” him with a stupid shot-gun!X’KEL: LOL, Booster Gold, yeah your right, but I think ANY American male would take pride and honor in having the chance to be Steve Rogers the one and only CAPTAIN AMERICAN. Rick says:

Actually, I think Matthew is buffest in “One for the Money,” and it is a more recent film. That was the feature that first inspired me to think of him. To be honest, casting a no name that likely can’t act would be a death knell as bad as a poor script. Getting the attention of actors closer to the A-list is can help maintain quality throughout.

Panda says:

“casting a no name that likely can’t act would be a death knell”

a) that’s why they need an unknown who CAN act
b) an A-lister who can’t act just as bad if not worse in long run

Matt is too goofy. He was ok in Reign of Fire but I still don’t see it.

790 says:

Isn’t Matt too old? I mean come on the comic version of Captain America was a young recrut in the army that they basically use as a test subject. Hence then he becomes the ultimate super soldier.
(Right? Am I smoking crack on this one?)

MaconaHEY dosnt work for this film unless there only doing it for the ladies.

And yes I’m spelling his name wrong for effect. ;-/

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

I would go with Djimon Hounsou (from Gladiator and Blood Diamond) for T’challa nowadays.

I have thought about him as well; wonderful actor. But I was watching Star Trek: Enterprise the other day and the actor who plays Ensign Mayweather, IMHO, would make a superb T’Challa. The only thing is, does he have the acting ability?

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Good choice would that blond guy from American Gladiators.

790, we think too much alike. I don’t watch American Gladiator but I saw the ad with the blond guy and I immediately said, “That’s Captain America”.

You need to stop reading my mind. :o )

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Matt McCon. is a wonderful actor but as Cap Amer., I don’t know. Who would play Steve Rogers before he takes the supersoldier serum?

John "Kahless" Taylor says:

Power Man -
I think Michael Jai White would make the perfect Power Man.

Iron Fist -
You have to get Ray Park for that one.

Shang Chi -
Tony Jaa would be my first choice. Most would pick Jet Li.

Thor -
Tough one. Maybe the guy from American Gladiator, if they give him acting lessons.

790 says:

Lol John, yeah I don’t watch Gladiators ether (really I don’t). But there’s a 100 ft tall banner hanging on the NBC building here in Burbank with that arian looking dude. He’s perfect for Captain America.

How much acting lessons do you need to pull off Cap? I think he can do it and the guy would prob become a huge star like Arnold or Dolph Lungrin (spell check that last name). ?

KEL says:

790,

the man’s name is Michael O’hearn, and he CAN act (a little, anyway). He even played Superman in the Superman/Batman: World’s Finest fan film (which is AWESOME!!!):

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PIWskgVx_v0

Great guy, IMO.

Not so sure for Cap tho. Remember, whoever plays Cap will have to be EXTREMELY thin/frail before the super soldier project, then totally pumped looking to be a convincind physically perfect human being, what Captain America is supposed to be.

Vic, Adrian,

sorry about the knee jerk reaction to Mconaughey as Cap the other day. He just didn’t strike me as Cap. Mostly cuz I don’t think he can do serious and don’t really like him as an actor. He has the build tho, and I will check out those flix you mentioned to give a better opinion. :-)
