marvel studios panel comic con Marvel Offers Free Captain America & Thor Signings

Marvel just made another fan-friendly and exciting announcement for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. This Saturday July 24th, you’ll be able to get a free signing from the stars and directors of Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America. That’s right, folks. If you get to the Marvel booth first thing Saturday morning, you can grab a ticket to ensure your special signing. Did I mention it’s free?

If you’re wondering who’ll be on hand for these signings, Marvel isn’t messing around. Both directors, Kenneth Branagh and Joe Johnston will start and end the session and in between you can nab autographs from Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), followed by Captain America himself, Chris Evans and his co-star Hugo Weaving (The Red Skull).

The schedule is as follows:

  • 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: “Thor” signing-Kenneth Branagh
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30p.m.: “Thor” signing-Chris Hemsworth & Tom Hiddleston
  • 2:00 p.m. – 3:00p.m.: “Captain America: The First Avenger” signing-Chris Evans & Hugo Weaving
  • 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.: “Captain America: The First Avenger” signing-Joe Johnston

Tickets will be limited and no doubt in very high demand.

What’s interesting about this is that if you take note of the times, Marvel is kicking off the signings just before Warner Bros. makes their big presentation which includes Green Lantern and their DC Entertainment movie surprises. There’s nothing like a little competition.

Marvel’s Thor and Captain America combined panel takes place later that day, starting at 6pm. With this announcement, Chris Evans is confirmed to be in attendance which goes against the initial Marvel Comic-Con panel rumors which had him and the cast of Captain America possibly only participating through teleconference.

Let the speculation begin on what this may mean for Marvel’s presentation and the major surprise announcements being promised. With production on The First Avenger: Captain America only just beginning, we won’t be seeing any footage for it yet (or will we?) – that’ll be reserved for the first trailer premiere for Thor and hopefully some additional footage.

Could we see an announcement of who’s playing Hulk? Could we meet the entire roster for The Avengers? May we finally meet Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man? Will geek-fave Joss Whedon be present, causing an overload of talent on stage?

What are your thoughts and predictions?

We’ll be reporting live at SDCC as it happens so follow us on Twitter @rob_keyes and @screenrant and let us know your thoughts.

  1. very cool of them to do

  2. FREAKING SAN DIEGO MAN!!! How I wish I was there Saturday

  3. I would be shocked if Whedon is there personally! Especially with Branagh, Johnston, Evans, and Hemsworth there. Man, who’s minding the store? Somebody is bound to have a clip where all the Avenger’s in costume drop unconscious, and then wake up on the floor of Comic-Con. How cool would that be? ;) This could very well be the best Comic-Con ever…

  4. Awesome, I hope I can get a pass for the Chris Evans signing. Love him!!

I wonder if this means he will show up for the Scott Pilgrim Panel or not.

I’m looking forward to the Avengers Panel. Hopefully Mark Ruffalo, Nathan Fillion, Eva Longoria, Kevin Pennington and Jeremy Renner are there.

    • your trippin mark ruffalo is not going to be banner.

    • Hi Karen,

I think Evans may not be a part of the Pilgrim panel. I know he’s not doing their press line (everyone would just ask about Captain America so it takes away from it).

I expect Renner will be confirmed but Pennington may only be at the event on Saturday but not for the panels.

  5. Comic Con is like going to Comic/Sci-Fi/fantasy Disneyland, the only bummer is that everyones there at the same time and they’re all ahead of you in line.

And the foods not as plentiful ,,,, and good…

Unless you have lots of cash to burn!!!!

    Yep its like Disneyland,,,

  6. I’m so pumped for all the news that will come out of comic con. Wish I could of gone.

I am sad a bit to see what comic con is all about fade away. It’s like over night Hollywood moved in. It’s more like Massive Media Con than comic con.

Still fingures crossed for some actual news about Batman and superman.

Also would be nice to get something good from Marvels Avengers after Evans being cast , poor Thor costumes and letting Ed Norton go i’ve lost faith. Maybe we can see Nathan Fillion get a role as Ant man in this or maybe some kind of news. I have no faith in cap very little in Thor and border line zero in Avengers. It’s been a rough 7 months.

    • dude have you ever been to comicon? i used to live 1000feet away from the convention center right across the trolley tracks from where they hold comicon i just moved last year and dude. its nothing but comics action figures nerds in costumes celebreties and video games did i mention COMICS!! i once saw gene simmons eating a salad looking miseerable as hell. so please man im not trying to insult you but your statments are always reaaly lame you dont think out what you say its like you just put stuff on here to piss people off. again i am not attacking im simply voiceing my opinion about comic con that comicon does have a lot of hollywood media nowadays but it still does have the eccense of what made it awsome back in the day just more comics are becoming film and cartoon franchises

    • ya, 90% of the space is strictly for comics, merchandise etc. they do to panels every hour and a half for big movies in Hall H, but its very much separate from the actual show floor and the regular comic events.

      • hollywoods been getting a bigger and bigger presence for the past 6-7 years or so, the con has been selling out for the past 3 years i think too, when i started going in the early 90′s, it was much more fun for me, there was no selling out of tickets either till recently. i could actually walk around and not bump into anyone lol. being a san diego native, theres a rumor that 2012 will be the last one to be held here in san diego.

  7. Wish I could be there at the CON, particularly at the Marvel Booth, but I live in Australia and its hard to get away.

I’ll have to settle for Aussie Con # 4 – the 2010 World Science Fiction Convention which is in Melbourne in September.

I can hardly wait to see the Thor movie.

  8. I love howyou insult me three times and then say your not insulting me hilarious.

I’m not the first person to comment on Hollywood moving in and taking over. Not only have several other people mentioned it on this site but there are litterally dozens of articles on the subject. It’s not simply about comic movies there is a growing trend of non comic non sci fi films and tv shows moving in. This is talked about all the time even IGN has a written big articles about it. This isn’t just me and it has nothing to do with pissing people off. There is no logical reason for anyone to be upset about what I wrote it wasn’t insulting or mean spirited at all I’m not sure what your problem is but please get thicker skin learn to do a little research before opening your mouth and stop inulting people for no reason.

    • me get thicker skin? hah arnt you the one whos always whining to the “auto moderation” saying and i qoute “theyre insulting me” ” you insulted me 3 times” yes i did but im not butthurt its just iv been to comicon iv experienced it. you havnt. and im not doing it for no reason your opinions are very shallow and ignorant. i dont need to do research when i been there first hand. so stop trying to come back with wannabe intellegent remarks and insults cause your not. iv read your earlier posts and this is why i dont like you. you act intellegent but you spell tomorrow. tomarrow. and aliens alians. personally somone who cant even spell the word alien is a person im not insulted by just amused.

      • the con used to be WAYY less about tv and hollywood, more about comics and the creaters of them, seems year after year its getting less and less about that to me

      • Spelling isn’t proof of or lack of intelligence. I can admit though when it comes to spelling I have a learning ability that i’ve had since birth and it’s always been a problem. Still you really shouldn’t bother insulting someone based on their spelling or grammar when you suffer from the same problems and struggle to put together a coherent sentence. It’s ‘I’ve’ by the way not ‘iv’ also it’s ‘ intelligent’ not intellegent’ ‘someone’ not ‘somone’. You probably don’t need to do research because you probably don’t know how. Yes sadly I lack in one thing spelling and you apparently fail at every intellectual level there is. My comments were based on my observations and the observations of many others including respected journalists.

I merely made simple observations that were not offensive in any way nor did I mention anyone’s name. No logical or sane person should of been upset or even bother by what I said. I have no problem with you disagreeing with me or discussing that disagreement with you. I do have a problem with your childish and insulting behavior.

This is the last I’ll comment on the subject. I’m not going to bother me self with childish banter and insults. I’m sure you will feel the need to respond and I welcome you to due to your predictable childish behavior I’d expect nothing less. I’m done however with this conversation and you.

        Enjoy your sandbox.

        • some people just like to argue just to argue daniel lol, all i do know is this: since 1991 from my first con experience, there was no lack of tickets, no sell outs, a lot less tv, movies, and other media, its become over the years a machine of sorts for hollywood, and that saddens me. this year i wont be going, its only the second one that i will have missed since i started going in 91, im just tired of the crowds, tired of the over exposed media ive seen there in recent years..i mean really who cares if the big bang theory has a booth there or not?? not me my friend, not me

  9. Adrien Brody, Nathon Fillion, Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, Edward Norton, as far as I am concerned all are welcome to the Marvel Universe. What is Eric Bana doing ? Ben Affleck ? Jennifer Garner ? lol This is the event of the year!!! SDCC is going to be the place to be for comic book fans and movie fans alike!!!

  10. Its true Hollywood is moving in and taking over,,, (not that its a total loss,,,) ;-)
Name one comic book that’s filling a huge hall full of screaming fans,,,

    Name one,,, ,,,

  11. You know Hollywood really started taking over Comic Con after Star Wars came out and changed the world.
May the force be with you,,,always,!

    • lol, i do love your insights 790!
