In the top of your story, you say Iron Man 2 is still scheduled to open May 7, 2009. I think you meant 2010.

You made me poop myself there a little at first read.

Thanks, bud. It’s been corrected. Don’t know how I missed that…

Vic

Oscar! says:

I pooped too! LoL This is good news, more time=better films. I hope they are all as good as Iron Man :) especially Captain America!!!!

Oscar! says:

Wait, werent they filming Spider-Man 4&5 together? or was that just a rumor?

T. says:

I’m mad I have to wait even longer now. But wow, can 2011 now officially be called the Year of Marvel? Spiderman, Cpatian America, and Thor all in the same year? And when will Batman 3 come out?

T. says:

I understand movies suffer when rushed, but why is i taking so long to get Thor and Captain America off the ground in the first place? They seem to be way behind schedule on those two. No actors or finished scripts ready by this point? Someone’s dropping the ball. Looks like they’re putting all their eggs in one basket for 2010. Iron Man 2 better be amazing!

Matt says:

i hope they get spiderman 4 back on par w/ one and two and learned from their mistakes on spiderman 3

SK47 says:

instead of concentrating on release dates, Marvel should be concentrating on the key elements: story, script, director, actors, etc.
Worry about a release date after you have that firmly in place.
This is their fault to begin with.

@SK

Pushing back the release dates gives them more time to work on those key elements.

zibe says:

I am more excited about these movies more than I have been about any others. I am glad they pushed them back also. I would rather they take there time and make great movies instead of putting out multiple movies out back to back. The Captain deserves the alittle T.L.C. considering it is the last movie before the big one. Anything less than excellance will just be unexceptable for any of these characters. Any definites yet as far as the actors for the leads go yet?

SK47 says:

@Vic, yeah.
They should have worked on that first instead of promising release dates way back after Iron Man came out even before they had anything in pre-production.

jordan says:

This is good for marvel though we have to weight longer i woud rather do that than see the movies get rushed. it seems that marvel wants to do things right and rushing
Thor is not a good idea he is the trickiest to do and not evon in production
yet so i don’t mind weighing 2 years for him and with Captain America coming out in 2011 maby there will be a cool crosover. Also the Avengers will have some big compatishion with Harry Potter coming out the same weekend as the avengers.

Rob Keyes says:

@ blipvert,

Thanks for the heads up (and the laugh) :)

I changed it after seeing your comment earlier today.

Rorschach says:

@oscar
i herd that to.
does any one know if there filming spidey 4&5 together ?
and i hope the kikd topher grace to the curb the spidey film should remain “Forman-less”.

as for the push-backs, i agree with many that its probly 4 the better , cuz ya cant rush things like this, look at Spider-man 3 ,Sony, producers , exc. where Rushing Sam.R and we got that Abomanation.

so i say giv it time, and we’l get way better results.

arrell says:

The wait for the Avengers is just cruel =(

Panda says:

I was so disappointed when I heard about Scarlet Johanson playing the Black Widow (that’s correct, right?)

Later release dates are a disappointment too, but no complaints. As long as we have good movies for years to come, I’m happy. Last year was a bit much for me: IM, TIH, TDK, all within 3 months? whew!

Ken J says:

@ Oscar, I heard something about that too, but filming together doesn’t mean releasing together…

Gary says:

Not surprised about the changes,
Glad Spider Man 4 has a release date.

Bill Blume says:

I have to wonder if part of the strategy here is to use some of the money they get from the second “Iron Man” to pay for the other films.

darthbalo says:

I agree that its a good thing that they are pushing back the release dates on some of these upcoming films. I’m so excited to see these movies and right now it seems like forever until they come out but taking the extra time we should good better movies. What do you guys think for choices to play Thor and Captain America?

Andy S says:

I’m going to agree with the majority here. Pushing back the release dates can only help the films. Let Favs do IM2 justice and then he can think about Avengers. I really hope they don’t screw up Captain America. That has such potential to be a great story and movie.

James M says:

John Cena professional wrestler and actor from the WWE is the only one to be CAPTAIN AMERICA he has the physique and agility and strength to do some stunts without special effects I watched him picked up The Big Show Paul Wight the 7 foot 500-pound wrestling star over his head and toss him no special effects that’s someone to be CAPTAIN AMERICA he has also done 2 movies

Ken J says:

Oh no, here we go again…

Why don’t we just cast every movie only with pro wrestlers from now on? This decade in movies will then be known as the Pro Wrestler glory days…

While we’re at it, we should replace Robert Downey Jr. with a pro wrestler, screw Christian Bale, I’m sure some pro wrestler is buff enough to look like the Batman in the comics, Mickey Rourke? Come on, playing a pro wrestler in a movie doesn’t count. A Pro Wrestler should have played that role, it’s insulting that they actually got someone who knew how to act to play that part…

The Avengers would have nothing but pro wrestlers, one of those wrestling babes should play pepper potts, I’m sure you have a wrestling babe in mind for Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Hornet, man, so many opportunities for so many wrestlers. The Hulk? Forget CGI, let’s just paint a pro wrestler green, but what to do with Edward Norton? Ah, I’m sure noone will notice, get a less buff wrestler to play Banner, so he’ll go from buff to more buff and green.

Damn man, the new Avengers movie will be taken so seriously then, I’m sure it’ll break new ground.

Lol, I wish I knew the names of more pro wrestlers. This would have been so much more fun if I did, lol. :-D

Oscar! says:

Oh noes!!! I thought it was gonna end at Triple H for Thor, now people are gonna ask for John Cena to be Captain America??? And to say he is the ONLY one who should be Captain America….wow, im gonna go die now.

Rob Keyes says:

@ James M,

We want quality movies – Cena and Triple H will never lead a big budget summer tentpole film

Ken J says:

What are you talking about Rob? They have the size and at least Triple H doesn’t completely suck. Isn’t not completely sucking all we need in an actor??? I can’t say the same for Cena since he does completely suck, but he’s strong… so there… no need for wires, that’s one hour less computer work to paint out the wires, that’s well worth the poor acting that will result…

Ken J says:

I’m kidding of course. :-P

Bill Blume says:

@Ken J… Glad you added that last part. I’ll call off the men in white coats now.

Ken J says:

Hey, I thought you called them off?? They are knocking at my door, I’m holding them back with a table, a few chairs, some house plants, and some aluminum foil. I’m almost out of foil, might not have enough to cover my head to prevent the government from reading my thoughts!!

Rob says:

lol, Ken

Like Bill Blume, my mind was exploding reading that comment
