Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy in the latest synopsis for Marvel and Netflix's The Punisher. Jon Bernthal has seen his role as Punisher significantly increased since his debut in Daredevil season 2 as both companies green lit a spinoff for everyone's favorite anti-hero. Ever since it was announced, fans have not-so-patiently been waiting to see what is in store when Frank is given an entire season as the lead and not a supporting role.

Details on The Punisher have been few and far between, with Netflix and Marvel even going as far as to continue to hide its release date. But, the promo wave has begun with several The Punisher teasers coming out and most recently a set of new photos that introduce the cast. Thanks to a new synopsis, we finally have a better understanding as to what the series will entail.

The new synopsis for the series ties in many elements that have previously been teased. Frank's concealed identity, a story that is bigger than just New York, and conspiracies are all present in the following synopsis:

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

Last time viewers saw Frank, he was blowing up is own house after finally getting revenge on those that killed his family. For his solo series, it appears as though the conspiracy theory that Frank uncovers will be the catalyst for him leaving New York. When he's gone, it may be the information Frank uncovers that brings him back together with Karen Page. As a reporter, she could have the resources he needs to get more information on those involved with the conspiracy or get any other details that aren't public knowledge.

It is also good to know why Frank has repeatedly been shown wearing a hoodie, growing his beard, or going to further lengths to hide himself from the public. After being involved in the killing of several gangs and The Hand, it is not surprising to know that Frank Castle is now a somebody in New York - and probably wanted by several people, possibly including some from his past.

The exploration of Frank's past will be a vital part of The Punisher, and could go beyond just adding backstory to an established character. If there is a giant conspiracy that he uncovers, tying it back into his days in the military would give him added motivation. Plus, depending on how far this conspiracy goes, it could provide the show with the avenue it needs to include another Marvel hero.
