The newest promo for Marvel and Netflix's The Punisher appears to promise an official premiere date announcement coming very soon. Similar to how Charlie Cox's take on Matt Murdock offered comic book fans the first faithful live-action version of Daredevil to date, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/The Punisher proved to be the unrestrained and dimensional interpretation of the character that fans had been waiting decades to see. So after his breakout turn in the second season of Daredevil last year, it didn't come as much of a surprise when Marvel and Netflix announced a Punisher solo series in the works, with Bernthal attached to reprise his role as the Frank Castle character.

While Marvel and Netflix had been withholding of any official footage or plot details from the spinoff series for a majority of this year, the release of the first teaser trailer for The Punisher appeared to signal a change in that moving forwards, following the premiere of The Defenders earlier this month. It now feels like only a matter of time now before the show's highly-mysterious premiere date is finally announced.

Unfortunately, Marvel and Netflix have not given fans quite that much concrete information yet. Nevertheless, the Twitter account for The Punisher has unveiled another short teaser trailer for the series (see the video above) - one that not only offers a first look at some of the show's many characters but also comes very close to revealing the series' late 2017 premiere date.

With there being only a few more months left in the year, there's no doubt that Marvel and Netflix will be announcing a Punisher premiere date sometime soon, especially considering the amount of time the companies' will be factoring in to promote the series prior to its debut. And coming off the releases of Iron Fist season 1 and The Defenders earlier this year, The Punisher promises to be a different type of superhero series than any of its Netflix MCU predecessors, with a brutal darkness at the center of it and an intriguing militaristic component to its storytelling structure.

Fans got their first look at that military setting and some of the show's new characters in its first teaser trailer, with this latest promo just continuing that trend. Not only does the promo's style fit in with the military side of the show's story, but it does a good job at briefly introducing some of the series' notable characters, and how they all will play a role Frank's overall mission, in some form or another. So while fans may have been disappointed by The Punisher's absence in The Defenders, this announcement certainly makes it feel like only a matter of time now before they'll get to see much more of the beloved antihero.
